"How are you feeling?" Ms. Morrell asked breaking the silence the pair had fallen into.
"Tired." She said flatly twisting her necklace in her hand looking away from the councillors prying eyes.
She was currently stuck in the last session of the day before school ended and it sucked. All her friends had been pulled in since the whole police station ordeal and Matt's drowning.
"That's not what I meant, this must have brought up memories for you." she asked making Melody force herself for not rolling her eyes.
Her mother had drown at sea or at least that was the lie her father told years ago that had been drudged out of her file forcing her to attend these sessions along with the rest. The lie her father told to keep her safe and her mother officially dead.
"I don't want to talk about that." She muttered holding back her annoyance.
"Do you feel sorry for Matt?" Morrell questioned.
"The boy who murdered multiple people, held me and my friends at gunpoint and stalked me?" She raised a brow at the councillor.
"Can you feel sorry for the nine - year - old Matt who drowned?" she reworded the question for her.
"Just because a bunch of dumbass jocks dragged him into a pool when he couldn't swim doesn't give him the right to go off killing them one by one." She snorted. "Or the right to stalk me, Stilinksi told me he found more photos of me changing on his camera, and not just of me though. I mean, he literally photoshopped himself into these pictures. Stuff like us holding hands and kissing. You know, like he had built this whole fake relationship, that's creepy as hell. So yeah, maybe drowning when he was nine years old was what sent him off the rails, but the guy was definitely riding the crazy train long before he started killing." She snapped lightly.
"Have you talked to your friends since that night?" She asks tilting her head lightly at the girl.
"A bit, Scott has a lot on his plate right now and so does Stiles. Allison -I've called and left messages but she doesn't answer. But that might be more her choice, you know. I get the feeling she doesn't want to talk to us-me. Her mom dying hit her pretty hard. But I guess it brought her and her dad closer. And my other friends have too much to deal with right now so no."
"-Im used to being alone though, I don't mind." She shrugged
"You mean, Isaac. One of the three runaways. You haven't heard from any of them, have you?" She pressed shifting in her chair.
"How come you're not taking any notes on this?" She avoided the question narrowing her eyes." I do my notes after the session."
"Your memory's that good?" she questioned raising a brow.
"How about we get back to you?" Ms. Morrell crossed her arms.
"I'm okay-" Ms.Morrell raised her brows making her groan, "I miss my home and I'm anxious, usually I run but I have this feeling." She lied shaking her head at the sudden tension in her shoulders.
"Like you're drowning?" She interjected raising a brow.
"Like whatever is going on in this town isn't finished." She corrected tightly.
"I'll leave you with this Winston Churchill once said - "If you're going through hell, keep going."
"Sounds a lot like "Just keep swimming." Melody snorted. "I'm used to being anxious, Ms.Morrell."
"Maybe we should talk more often." She shrugged at Melody.
"I'd rather not talk about my dead family with a stranger. I'm not a stranger to grief Ms. Morrell, I know how to deal with it." She sighed going to pick up her bag when she got stopped by the lady voice.
"Are you really dealing with it or just shoving it down, I've noticed you haven't joined any music classes since arriving even despite being friends with Adeline Martin."
"What does music have to do with Matt." She tried not to snap, "It doesn't, we are talking about you." The lady reasoned making her sigh.
"Playing without my dad- he wasn't just my father or my best friend, he was the only thing left of my mother and playing just makes me think about how much I've lost."
"I think you'd find that you would find your parents in music rather than feeling their loss. I would like to see you back in band next year." Ms. Morrell leaned forward in her seat locking her eyes on her.
"And I'd like to move back to Crescent Cove, we don't all get what we want Ms. Morrell." She plastered on the fakest smile she could muster and grabbed her bag, "Have a nice day."
Melody walked into the hallway hastily grabbing her phone before trying to call Derek again and fitting his ring tone.
"Derek I swear to the Gods if you don't call me back i'm gonna come drown your Furry ass." she warned in a voicemail before almost running into Scott on his way out of school and stopped him.
"Scott?"
"Oh- Hey Mel." Scott forced a smile.
"How are you?" Mel raised her brows tucking her phone away in her back pocket.
"Well my mom still is barely talking to me, I am still failing three classes and I'm gonna be late to work." He sighed and Mel's eye brows shot up.
"Is your mom home?" Melody asked getting an idea, "Yea-why?" Scott asked clearly confused.
"Did you tell her about me?" She questioned making his shoulders slouch, "I did, I'm sorry." he apologized.
"That's fine Scottie, I was gonna go talk to her, think she'd let me in?" Melody asked
"Honestly, I don't know but you're welcome to try, I'll see you later Melody, I gotta run." he smiled.
"I'll see you at the game tomorrow." she nodded walking to her locker to get her stuff before heading to her jeep.
Mel ran to the store picking up different flavours of ice cream and chocolate before heading to Scotts.
Melody gathered her tote bag and snacks before walking to the door hopeful that the lady wouldn't turn her away.
Melody wanted to try to help Scott, plus she could use some girl time. At least then she might feel like she's doing something.
"Melody?' Melissa frowned shocked at the girl standing at her door.
"Hey Mrs. McCall, um- you can say no but I was wondering if you want to talk? I brought you a bag of treats either way but I failed at finding a copy of Dirty Dancing." she sighed holding up the bag of goodies.
Melissa eyed the girl hesitating. "Did Scott send you?"
"No, I sent myself, I needed some girl time before the whole disaster struck but you don't have to say yes." She explained shuffling on her feet.
"Come in." Melissa sighed opening the door wider making her eyes grow, "really?"
"Really." The mom smiled and Melody's heart clenched as she walked in and took her shoes off.
"I brought a bunch of snacks 'cuz I wasn't sure if you were a sweets or salty gal." Melody said putting her bag down on the coffee table as Melissa went to get spoons and a towel for Melody remembering what Scott told her.
"Oh I'm both" Melissa smiled sitting down and handing a confused Melody the tea towel.
"For the ice cream, uh- Scott said-" Melissa tried to explain and she could tell she was uncomfortable saying something about supernatural stuff so she cut in, "Thank you, that means a lot."
"So tell me about this girl time issue." Melissa smiled softly breaking into a bag of chips as Melody dove into the chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream with the towel around the small cup.
"I think- well I like this boy, but I've never-" She sighed trying to explain it all without diving into her plans to leave.
"You can talk about it, you're a mermaid, I'm guessing I'm the only parent figure that knows now so let's chat." The woman nodded her on.
"My dad and stepmother knew but that was it." She sighed
"I'm sorry Melody." The mother consoled her.
"I plan to leave once I graduate, to go find my mom, I don't know if Scott told you she's still alive out there but she is. My dad made me promise to graduate though before. So I never, well I made sure I never liked anyone. I like it that way, but ugh-" She fretted stabbing the ice cream with a sigh
"You like him a lot." Melissa frowned at her.
"I don't know, that's the thing, I've never liked someone before so I don't know, and I don't know if he likes me either. And that scares me. Like how could someone ever like me? I'm a freak." She mumbled the last part but Melissa caught it.
"You're not a freak Melody, you just different than everyone else and that makes you special not a freak." Melissa consoled rephrasing the words the younger girl used.
"Who is it? This guy?" Melissa asked leaning into the couch with Melody.
"Issac" She grumpled shoving ice cream into her mouth.
"That's another werewolf right?" Mrs McCall hesitated over the words.
"Yeah he's apart of Derek's pack. He's a nice guy though, well most of the time, and that another issue! He acts so tough and mean sometimes and like a soft puppy the others."
"Issac has had a rough life, Scott mentioned his dad was abusing him. Maybe the tough act is just that, an act. Maybe give it time." She said
"As for leaving, I don't know what to tell you to do. Learning about who and where you come from is important for you." Melissa shook her head struggling to say the right thing.
"I promised myself I would." She sighed before looking to Melissa.
"Uh- how are you doing with the whole- ya know?" Melody asked lightly.
"I'm freaked, honestly, I wish Scott would've told me sooner too but, his behaviour lately makes sense now. It's just-"
"A lot, freaky, overwhelming?" Melody asked tying to fill in the losses words.
"Yes." The mother sighed.
"I felt that way too, I mean finding out your mother was a mermaid and now your one, is one thing. Someway that made sense to me since the ocean is so large but when I found out about the rest- I was freaked. I didn't want anything to do with them." She nodded
"What changed?"
"The kanima, Derek was set upon thinking it was Lydia, I didn't want the twins or their family to feel a loss like i did and now I'm just -here." She shrugged.
"Your son has some seriously strong morals Mrs. McCall, he's a good guy." She added with a smile.
"Call me Melissa, and thank you, I think I'm beginning to see that." Melissa smiled at her proud of her son.
"You going to the game tomorrow?" Melody asked before eating a large spoonful of ice cream.
"I switched with another nurse so I can, you are coming right? You can sit with me."The lady furrowed her brows.
"Uh- yeah, that would be nice." She smiled
"I can meet this boy too." Melissa laughed
"Oh gosh." Melody eyes went wide.
"I'm joking, you can point him out though." The mother laughed.
"Sure, I will." She chuckled
"So how about Dirty Dancing? We better start it before Scott gets home. I got a copy." Melissa smiled getting up to punch in the movie before settling down to watch with the girl.
It was passed dark when Scott finally made his way home surprised to hear laughing within.
"Whoa what happening here?' Scott furrowed his brows at the mermaid and his mother curled up on the couch laughing with the ending of Dirty Dancing paused on the credits.
"Hey Scott" Melody smiled
"Hey, Seems like I missed a party, did you guys have fun?" Scott smiled at. seeing his mom seem so relaxed after the past week being so stressful.
"Yeah we did." Melissa smiled before melody pipped up "There's some ice cream and chips left for you Scott."
"Thanks Mel."
"How was work?" Melody asked as she stretched.
"Uh- Good, Deaton showed Issac how to take pain away" Scott said before metally hitting himself for motioning the wolf that might or might no be leaving town even after he mention Melody. Issac snapped she was better off without him.
"Issac was there? Did you hear from Derek?" Melody frowned leaning up.
"No Derek has been silent and Issac just wanted some advice." Scott answered before walking away shutting the conversation down.
"Oh." Melody shrunk down and Melissa gave her a small smile.
"I probably should head home anyways, maybe get a swim in. Thanks for tonight, mrs- Melissa." She muttered almost calling her Mrs McCall as she got up
"No, thank you, I needed that. We will see you tomorrow then Melody. Have a nice night."
Melody smiled getting her bag before heading out.
â·â·â·
Melody was currently standing beside Melissa McCall in the locker room as Coach started to dress the team and Melody couldn't help but notice Issac was missing.
"Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will be joining others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind."
Melody frowned at the random speech, "What?"
Coach smiled "Mankind - that word should have new meaning for all of us today."
"What the hell is he talking about?" Melissa asked looking to Melody who shrugged just as confused as she was then to Stiles.
"He does this every year." Stiles replied leaning over to the pair.
"Seriously?" Melody sighed, this school couldn't be weirder.
"Yeah." Stiles nodded holding back a grin.
Coach threw his hand up yelling "We are fighting for our right to live."
"Yeah!" The team shouted in excitement making Melissa still, "Wait, is this?"
"Yeah, it's the speech from Independence Day." Stiles confirmed with a sharp nod.
"But as the day the world declared in one voice -" Coach quoted with a wide smile
"It's Coach's favorite movie." Stiles leaned over again telling the pair making Melody laugh and Melissa shake her head at the man's antics.
"We will not go quietly into the night!"
Melody sighed "He doesn't know any sports speeches?"
"I don't think he cares." Stiles commented with a shrug making her smile.
"Today we celebrate our Independence Day!" Coach roared making melody smile and shaking her head at the mans antics.
"Yeah!" The players roared back before coach made way for Gerald to come speak making her stomach drop.
"Well spoken, coach. I might have chosen something with a little more historical value, but there's no denying your passion. And while I haven't been here long, there's no denying my pride in having a winning team for this school. I know you'll all be brilliant tonight, even with only one co - captain leading you. Now, I'm your principal, but I'm also a fan. So don't think I'll be content to watch you merely beat this team. Get out there and murder them." Gerald as making Melody's hand shake with fear as his eyes landed on her and necklace before walking off with a bone chilling smirk.
The message was clear- Gerald knew exactly what she was, meaning whatever his plan was Melody was about to be sucked in.
"You coming?" Melissa asked when she noticed the brunette wasn't following her yet, "I'll meet you out there." Melody nodded her off before walking to Stiles watching Scott talk with Coach.
"Stiles, where's Issac?" Melody frown at the boy still not seeing the blue eyed wolf.
"He left." Stiles declared making her stop in her tracks, her face falling at the news, "He - what? Why?"
"Scott said came to work the clinic last night, asked if he was gonna leave, I guess Boyd and Erica are leaving town."
"Scott said he couldn't he's got too many people relying on me. He thinks he has no one."
"He said that?" she exclaimed her soft brown eyes going round, I mean she knew they weren't close but, she thought they, that he, would've stayed. They were just beginning to get along - or whatever. Melody thoughts stumbled along with her not knowing how to explain what Issac and her were.
"And I quote, from Scott's words "well I guess I'm lucky I have no one." I thought you and Lahey were a thing?" Stiles question antsiliy playing with his stick.
"No, just friends." She stuttered softly.
"It didn't look like that." Stiles added, when had he even see the pair interact lately.
"Uh- good luck." Melody muttered leaving the change room to go to the field her head racing as she walked playing with her blue crystal around her neck. The colour reminding her of the bloody wolf's eyes making her heart hurt.
Melody found Melissa already sitting with Stiles dad who smiled at the girl as she sat beside Melissa, the twins sitting with Stilinski.
"So where is he?" Melissa asked learning over to Melody whose shoulders slouched, "He left town."
"Oh Mel, im sorry." She said rubbing the girls back who took a deep breath and forced her shoulders up looking to her with a fake smile, "Its okay, probably for the better anyways, plus he's safer away from all this."
The lady just nodded side hugging the girl who focused on her friends talking on the bench leaning into the hug for a moment before pulling away with a soft face smile.
"You know what's going on?" Stiles asked Scott who frowns at him, "Not yet.".
"It's going to be bad, isn't it? I mean, like people screaming, running for their lives, blood, k*lling, maiming kind of bad?" Stiles sqwurmed in his seat with anxiety pouring out of him.
"Looks like it." Scott nodded flatly.
"Scott, the other night seeing my dad get hit over the head by Matt, you know, while I'm just lying there and I can't even move, it just - I want to help, you know, but I can't do the things that you can do. I can't - " stiles worried shaking his head and Melody's heart clenched at his words.
"It's okay." Scott consoled his best friend
Stiles furrowed his brows "We're losing, dude."
Coach walked up behind them with a confused face "The hell are you talking about? Game hasn't even started. Now put on your helmet and get out there. You're in for Greenberg." He said looking at Stiles who stopped in his tracks looking to the man.
"What? What happened to Greenberg?"
"What happened to Greenberg? He sucks. You suck slightly less." He hesitated showing how much less he sucked with his hands making Melody snort.
"I'm playing? On the field? With the team?" Stiles exclaimed standing up excited.
"Yes, unless you'd rather play with yourself." Coach stammered looking to the spastic boy.
"I already did that today, twice." Stiles shuddered making Melodys face contort with how grossed out she was, nothing like over sharing Stiles! she thought physically cringing.
"Get the hell out there!" Coach yelled and stiles franticly made his way onto the field making the sheriff exclaimed "Oh, no. Why is my son running out to the field?"
"Because he's on the team?" Melody retorted a little dumbfounded at his confusion.
"He is." he stammered in shock.
Melody nodded leaning over to look at the man "Mm - hmm."
" He's on the team. He's - he's on the field. My son is on the field!" he yelled punching the air and studdenly jumping off his seat. Melody joined in yelling "Go Stiles!" With a laugh before sitting down ready to watch the game when suddenly Scott's entire body language changed making Melody frown.
" -Ah, you can. Good. Then listen closely because the game is about to get interesting." Gerard glanced to Scott as Melody listened in tensing.
"Let's put a real clock on this game, Scott." He announced, "I'll give you until the last 30 seconds. When that scoreboard clock begins counting down from 30, if you haven't given me Derek, then Jackson is gonna kill someone. So tell me, Scott, who's gonna die tonight? Should it be your mother, who so bravely came out to support you? Or the sheriff, your best friend's father? Or how about that pretty little mermaid sitting in the stands, would be a shame to kill such a prize. Or how about the little redheads who managed to survive the bite of an Alpha? Or maybe one of these innocent teenagers with their whole life ahead of them?" Melody whole body language changed at the threat, the hunters knew about her and not only that Gerard just threatened everyone she cared about.
Gerard continued "Or should I do everyone a favour and kill that ridiculous coach? It's up to you, Scott." Gerard pined Scott with his eyes unaware of her listening. "But you are going to help me take Derek down. Because if you don't - I'll have Jackson rip someone's head off right in the middle of the field and drench everyone you love and care about in blood."
" He's probably just warming up." Melissa told a wincing sheriff watching as Stiles fail again, Melody could see he was trying though and that's all she cared about.
Melody turned to a worried Melissa muttering she'd be back as Lydia consoled Stiles dad.
" Sit down, McCall." coach barked at Scott as she snuck over.
"But, coach, we're dying out there." Scott wined.
" Oh, I'm aware of that. Now sit." he said forcing Scott to sit with his hands on his shoulders.
"New you shouldn't be down here." Coach frowning at Melody as she walked to Scott.
"I'll just be a minute coach, it's important." she smiled before looking to Scott.
"What the hell are we doing." Melody asked Scott kneeling beside him when Scott looked to her then behind her with shock as Melody felt a presence behind her.
"You came to help." Scott breathed in relief and Melody turned around to see a smirking Issac and her jaw threatened to drop. He came back, he didn't leave.
" I came to win." Issac retorted tilting his head before looking to Melody with a wide smile making her heart skip.
"You came back." She breathed slowly breaking into a smile at the sight of those damn blue eyes.
"You think I'd let you guys have all the fun?" Issac grinned back making her heart leap and she swore she heard his jump too. "I couldn't stay away." Issac muttered. The group looked over to Gerard with a glare and he stood slightly shocked to see Issac there before they looked back to each other.
" You got a plan yet?" Issac broke eye contact with her to ask Scott.
"No, right now it's pretty much just keep Jackson from killing anyone." Scott shook his head in worry.
"Well, that might be easier if you're actually in the game." Issac basically snorted back looking to Scott. 'We have to make it so coach has no choice but to play you."
"How do we do that? He's got a bench full of guys he can use before he ever puts me on the field." Scott asked looking to the other bench full of players before turning to Issac who tilted his head knowingly. "Can you do it without putting anyone in the hospital?" Melody asked slightly worried for the other players.
"I can try, Princess." he smiled making her stomach flipflop before she got a sudden burst of confidence and kissed him lightly on the cheek watching his face redden and ran back to the stands to watch.
One by one Isaac flipped and threw his own teammates around, causing Coach to empty the bench. At one point he literally threw on of his teammates to coaches feet making her laugh, she felt bad for the guy but that was just too clever. She could feel Gerards rage from here.
"Lahey! Seriously, what the hell is your problem?" Coach asks standing to point at him and Isaac just turns to him putting his arms out to shrug dramatically with a smirk and heading back onto the field making Melody snort at the boy.
All of a sudden Isaac gets tackled by none other than Jackson, who turns around taking his helmet off to walk off with a chilling smile. Melody's eyes widen as she abandons her spot beside Melissa on the bench and runs out onto the field behind a concerned Scott.
"It's not broken." Issac groans shifting a bit "But I can't move it. I think Jackson nicked me 'cause I can feel it spreading." Issac says at Scotts arrival and Melody got beside him finally.
Gerard starting speaking catching their attention as the paramedics took Issac," You want to play chess, Scott? Then you better be willing to sacrifice your own pawns."
"Crap" Coach swore getting over to the pair and shoving a helmet towards Scott,"McCall. Either you're in or we forfeit."
Melissa ran out to the pair grabbing her sons arm and looking between them, " Hey, something's happening, isn't it? Something more than a lacrosse game?" She asked worried
"You should go. Both of you" Scott looked at them.
Melissa shook her head at her son, "Oh, I'm not going anywhere." "Me either." Mel added before Melissa spoke up again, "And everything that I said before, forget it. All of it. Okay? If you can do something to help, then you do it. You have to."
Scott nodded,"I will, be careful and keep your ears on." he looked to melody at the last part and she sharply nodded following his mom back.
"Don't you know what you're really bargaining for, Scott? Haven't you guessed what the real offer on the table is? It's Allison. It's always been Allison. You give me Derek, and I'll let you have Allison." Gerard told Scott making Melody scowl, you can't give someone a person.
Melody sat there anxiously watching when suddenly that bad feeling got worse and she watched Scott run towards the school.
"Where are you going?" Melissa grabbed her arm stopping her as melody tried to rise.
"Somethings wrong, I'll be back." she quickly muttered and the mom let her go.
Melody booked it towards the school entering just in time to hear Issacs racing heart and Gerard taunting him, Scott turned to her telling her to be quiet as they walked in together.
The sight broke her heart, a part of her kicking herself for not checking on him when he didn't come back out. Issac was struggling to stand gripping onto the sink to pull himself up as Gerard up sheathed a large broadsword.
"It was a good effort, Isaac. It was. This would be so much more poetic if it were halftime." Gerard smiled before Issac caught eyes with Scotts yellow one and Melody seething beside him turning around seeing Scott growl.
Melody uses her magic throwing a hunter into the locker knocking him out while Scott attacks the other one and look for Gerard.
" Where is he?" Scott asked looking around as Melody makes her way to Issac helping him stand.
"Are you okay?" Melody asks grabbing his arm to help steady him.
"Better now." He smiled down at her before looking to Scott, "Nice timing.
"That man makes me wish I had claws." She grumbled softly making Issac chuckle.
"Gerard threatened you to give him Derek before the end of the game yet nothings happened. He said he'd kill one of us but Jackson only nicked Issac. So what's his plan?" She worried looking to Scott.
"We need to get out there, come on I'll help." Scott grabbed Issac's other arm helping them walk.
"He threatened you?" Issac looked down to her furrowing his brows.
Mel nodded pushing through the doors to go outside. "Right before you showed up, he knows what I am."
Issac's jaw tightened subconsciously pulling her close as they walked, not that she minded, it was nice, and she was also freezing.
The group walked onto the field, Issac finally carrying his weight so Melody had let go and was about to head back to Melissa and the rest went the lights suddenly went off making her yelp. Her fear didn't help when someone grabbed her making her scream before Issac lent down to her ear, "It's me, are you hurt?" He said clearly worried and Melody shook her head knowing he could see her as his eyes were glowing, her eyes were adjusting seeing his stressed face looking her over.
"Hey I'm okay." Melody said grabbing him making him look at her, everyone around them is in a blind panic running around and something runs into her making Issac grab her closer.
"Scott! Scott, where are you? Scott!" Melissa yells panicking trying to find her son.
"Mom, mom, mom, mom. Are you okay?" Scott runs grabbing her mom.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I'm fine. But somebody is hurt. Somebody is down on the field." Melissa yells and suddenly the lights start switching on showing people grouped around something on the field.
Melody and Isaac shared a look and Isaac grabbed her hand as they walked over hearing coach yell, "Get out of the way. Move. Back off! Move!" Coach shoved someone clearing the path so they could see Jackson. Jackson was laying on the ground not moving.
"Jackson? What's happened to Jackson? Jackson! Jackson! Jackson, what's happening?" Lydia started screaming a just as panicked Addie following her as Melody covered her cry with her mouth.
"He- his- he doesn't have a heart beat." She spluttered in shock.
"Can we get a medic over here? We're gonna need a medic!" Coach yelled beside the unconscious boy and Melissa came running over to listen to his chest.
"He's not breathing. No pulse." She said looking to coach, "Nothing?"
"Oh Gods" Melody exclaimed shaking.
"Nothing." Scott's mom said with shocked eyes before lifting his shirt to reveal blood, lots of blood.
"Oh -" coach exclaimed
"Oh, my God. There's blood. There's blood." Lydia yelled as Addie hugged her.
"Look." Scott tapped Issac getting the pairs attention looking to his hand that was covered in his own blood.
"He did it to himself." Issac said confused as Melody breathing picked up at the sight.
"Get down here." Melissa yelled at Lydia who was sobbing, "Get down here and hold his head. Tilt it up." She snapped
"I can't, I can't watch this." She cried making Issac pull the mermaid to his chest and he held the back of her head softly as she started to cry.
The sheriff pushed through the crowd taking in the scene before turning around trying to find his son but failing
"Stiles."Where's Stiles? Where - where's my son? Where's Stiles? Where's Stiles? Where's Stiles? Where the hell is my son?!" The man shouted making Melody turn out of Issac's grip to look around the field for her friend.
He was gone. Stiles was gone.
