Chapter 45

The night gets deeper, the sky started  to cry, sIlence filled the room, hearts crying from the lost. Jihyo took a step forward to pat Chaeyoung's shoulder. They're inside Momo's laboratory and a cold body lied on the table. Chaeyoung no longer cried. She just stare at her friend's peaceful face. Akira's body was covered with black thick blanket.

"Rest all of you. We need to wake up early tomorrow." Jihyo instrucetd.

"But.." Chaeyeon trailed. Her eyes red from the constant crying.

"We need to rest to think of a better plan. We can't let this happen again." She reasoned and Chaeyeon understood. Everyone started  leaving the room until it was only Momo, Mina, Jihyo and Chaeyoung left.

"Mina you can go first." Chaeyoung said to her with her voice empty. Mina wanted to stay and retort but Jihyo sop her.

"Let her for now." Jihyo softly said to her and smiled sadly. Mina looked down but nodded in the end. Jihyo and Min left he room together.

"Chae you have the ability." Momo patted her shoulder before leaving the room too. Chaeng frowned to her Momo unnie's words. What's the use of my ability of my friend is already dead? After some seconds, she realized what she means. Don't tell me... Closing her eyes, Chaeyoung concentrated. She walked closer to her friend and opened them again. Blue irises stared deep on the dead.

"Sorry for the intrusion Aki." She touched her friend's cheek and just like that, visions filled her eyes. She saw everything. What happened after Mina left, how she forgot and how she died. Chaeyoung gritted her teeth seeing the scene of how that kid Mina killed her friend. But her heart ache when Akira called for Mina.

"I'm sorry." Another tears escaped in her eyes. The next scene is when that masked person came. Chaeyoung gasped on what she discovered. A smile creep on her lips.

"Woah" She snorted. Her tears ceased to fall as she found herself laughing. If you were to see it from a distance, you would probably mistaken her for being crazy.

"Those three." She said in annoyance. When she felt like her head is starting to hurt and her body is starting to numb, she stopped her reading.

"This woman for the last time- aish." She grins before landing a flick on the cold dead body. She let out a satisfied sigh and her eyes turning back to normal.

I should go.

Chaeyoung finally decided to go back to her room only to find out that Mina is waiting for her. She's leaning on the door while listening to music. Chaeyoung smiled to the sight.

"Hey why are you here?" She asked. Mina saw her and took out the earpiece.

"I waited for you."

"Hmm I could see but why?"

"Because I don't want you to cry alone?" She answered but her tone is not really sure. Chaeyoung smiled to the thoughtfulness of the woman. What did I do in my past life to deserve such girlfriend?

"Come." Chaeyoung took her hand and opened the door of her room. She's no longer sad compared before but if she were to act normal, Mina might be weirded. She let the girl sit on her bed while she turned on the air conditioner.

"Would you like to rest?"

Mina blankly stared at her and nodded. She reached for the cover and slipped inside to lay comfortably. Chaeyoung smiled secretly and laid on her side of the bed. They laid side by side and facing each other.

"Why are you so silent?" Chaeyoung noticed the observing eyes of her girlfriend.

"I am always like this." Mina answered without changing her expression. Staring at the girl in front of her, Chaeyoung was reminded of the memories Akira regained.

"Did you cry?" Chaeyoung took Mina's hand into her own. Mina didn't answer. Sure she did but that's something she can't explain. Chaeyoung saw the flash of hesitation in her eyes and so she decided not to push about it. Maybe even if she did not remember her own sister, her heart does.

"Hey Minari what will you do if the little Mina took me?"

Mina's brows furrowed.

"What nonsense are you saying?"

"I was just thinking. Akira got attacked by that one chance. What if-"

"Stop spouting nonsense Chae. There's no way I'll let that kid take you. Not even a strand of your hair." Mina's voice was so threatening. It's like the old Mina who do not know how to feel emotions came back. Chaeyoung let out a sigh. Goodness I knew she would react like this.

"Okay okay calm down. I was just asking a what if situation." She chuckled.

"Then stop asking because It's irritating that you think I'll let them hurt you."

"So possessive eh." I'm supposed to be the one possessive between the two of us before.

"I have the right." Mina retorted. Chaeyoung chuckled to their exchange.

"You sure have." She smiled "Thank you." Mina did not reply to her words, instead she noticed something different.

"hmm you know I thought you're going to cry." Mina stared at her eyes directly. Yeah right. That's the normal thing I should be doing right now. I mean my friend just died. That stupid Aki.

"That's mean. You just reminded me of a sad memory." Chaeyoung pouted and tried to act like she's going to cry. Mina panicked for a second seeing her reaction.

"S-sorry I didn't mean to say that..." She bit her lower lips, feeling guilty all of a sudden. Chaeyoung mentally cooed to the cute sight of her lover. Cute!

"It's okay I get it. You just want to comfort me right?" She tried teasing her again with a crying expression. Mina sat up and tried reaching to her only to stop midway and hesitate.

"No- I mean yes I do want to comfort you but I hate seeing you crying." Mina lowered her gaze slightly bashful from her words. OMG this is the first time the straightforward assassin is getting shy!

"If you want to comfort me you should embrace me." She continued to tease. It was supposed to be a joke but Mina being Mina. She take things seriously when it comes to the woman before her. When Chaeyoung noticed that Mina got stunned on her place with a complete blank and innocent face, she decided to stop her teasing. But it's too late...

"W-wait what are you doing?" She was beyond surprised when Mina started inching closer to her. Until she's successfully on top of her.

"Sana told me one thing about lovers." Chaeyoung started to have cold sweats when she heard Sana's name. Knowing that unnie for weeks, she discovered her overly public display of affection too. Nothing good will come out with those mouth.

"W-what? I'm just teasing you." She nervously gulped from the intent stare coming from the woman above her.

"The way to comfort a woman is to make her feel good. That's what she said."

"But Akira just died. We can't it's disrespect-"

"It's okay she will understand that you are in pain and you need a moment to forget."

Her jaw hanged. She can't make an excuse. Mina will have something to retort back. Damn you Snake!

When the morning came. Jihyo called for a meeting. Chaeyoung and Mina came together hand in hand but Sana noticed something off.

"Hey Chaengie why are you so red? and what's with the turtle neck? It's so hot these days." Sana looked at her innocently. Chaeyoung glared at her. She wanted to scream in her face that it's-your-fucking-fault.

"I just want to." She said with a force smile. Jihyo looked at her too and made a known smile. Chaeyoung wanted to dig a hole to hide. Just kill me!

"Enough with the chatter. We have to proceed to the plan. We already took care of everything. This afternoon we will fly to Japan. Tomorrow we will meet a person that will help us. Dahyun will be with Momo. Sana, Jeong and Nayeon you will meet with her. The rest will be at standby. If we will be fortunate. The infiltration will happen the day after tomorrow."

The meeting is only short as Jihyo just instructed them on what they will do. Everyone agreed but the atmosphere is still gloomy. Jihyo understood where it is coming from. They lost one friend, a family.

"About Aki, let's do our best to avenge her." Jihyo smiled, a sad one. Chaeyeon tightened her fist. The more she remembered the pitiful death of Akira, the more hate rose in her heart. I'll make them pay.

"That's all for now. You can prepare for later." She dismissed. Everyone get out of the meeting room. Only Tzuyu and her stayed. Jihyo let out a sigh. She could feel the side effect again. Her body starts to tremble and her strength is depleting. Good thing that Tzuyu managed to catch her on time.

"Sorry." She smiled weakly as Tzuyu supported her weight. The younger woman let her sit on the chair carefully.

"I told you not to overuse your powers." She scolded and squatted in front of her. Jihyo took out her mask and her blue eyes slowly changes into black. Tzuyu's sad expression pained the captain.

"I can't help it. I have to do it Chewie." Jihyo lifter her hand to hold Tzuyu's cheeks. Feeling the warm hand, Tzuyu leaned on the touch.

"But unnie can't you think about yourself too? at least for once be selfish." Her voice started to tremble from the sadness she's feeling towards her lover.

"I'm sorry Tzuyu." Jihyo can't say anything but apologize.

"What about me? Will you just leave me alone? unnie I can't." A lone tear escape by those beautiful eyes. Jihyo's heart ached from the scene in front of her. She stayed silent and listened to her.

"Sure, everyone is there but being with you it's different. You became my sister, family, best friend, and the only person that I love. How could you be so cruel by letting me suffer alone?"

"I'm sorry." She closed her eyes. She can't bare seeing the pained gaze of Tzuyu directed to her.

Unknown to them, Chaeyoung is silently listening behind the closed door. She tricked Mina that she'll be packing her clothes in her room but in reality, she need to talk with the captain. Her eyes shows sadness too. She saw Jihyo's vision about her death and if that woman in black is saying the truth then her time is almost at its limit. She respected Jihyo too much for carrying all of them as her responsibility. She felt useless.

I have to do my part too. She's sacrificing herself.

She decided not to disturb them. Her intention is to ask the captain about her original plan but it seems like that can be done next time.

...

"You are..." Jeong gasped realizing who is the woman in front of them.

"Yes I am. I thought I told your captain I'll only negotiate with a normal person." She eyed Nayeon and Sana behind Jeong.

"But we can't be so sure if you won't do any trick." Nayeon crossed her arms.

"Tch. I will if you are here. Mina will- I mean the little Mina will know from your scent." She took out her glasses and looked at them sternly.

"Nayeon, Sana get back." Jihyo instructed from the earpiece.

"But-"

"Follow the order or we will mess up."

She grunted in annoyance and took Sana's wrist to leave but not until she turned back and said...

"I'll fucking kill you if you do something."

"Yeah yeah shoo."

Nayeon gritted her teeth but still left. Now it is only Jeong and the other woman left.

"Hi I'm Yoo Jeongyeon."

"Kim Jisoo, now let's go right to the point... I will be your key to enter the cage. But I have a condition."

"What is it?"

"Spare my sister."
