Chapter 38

Mina noticed how the child doesn't have any intention of making the first move. Well, if she was really her clone then that's likely to be expected. Letting out a sigh, she wears her earphones. Something, she always did if she don't want to be distracted. Noises could be pretty distracting. Playing the music, she started to smile. (Yes it's the song above. Hello fellow DS fan~)

"Let's see how much your words brings you." In a blink of an eye, the assassin disappeared. The kid is still calm like she knew what the woman is going to do.

"You're tricks won't affect me." She smirked. Mina appeared on her side and tried to launch a surprise attack but her punch stopped. She could feel a dense air around the kid forming like a barrier. A wide grin stretched on her lips.

"Interesting." She commented, before gathering some more force on her fist and sends the punch again. This time, it managed to get throught but the girl blocked it on time. The impact made her slide back a meter away.

"So this is the witch." The kid smiled but it was different. Something in her expression screams excitement. Mina didn't answer and just return the same smile. Her blood is pumping fast from the adrenaline.

Now, it was the kid who plotted an attack. She reached out her hand with an open palm. Mina felt it. Something is moving in the air. She can't see but she knew better to avoid the fatal attack. The child closed her palms, that's when the air around her change and denses itself like a sharp blade hunting her. Mina closed her eyes and took out the earphones. Her sensitivity heightened, she used it to predict where the attacks would come from. She snapped her fingers which produced a loud sound. If the naked eyes can't see then she will use eco-location. A tactic she just learned. It was the captain who suggested for her to try. Seems like she prepared me for this.

Now with a snap, she can see the the trajectory of each attacks and can easily avoid it. Mina noticed how the dense air formed like a tail and was coming from the child's back. It was the same as Akira's but different at the same time.

"Such a show off." She huffs and her eyes glows in intense purple. Mina prepared herself from the incoming attack. She opened her eyes and uses one of her abilities. A glimpse from the future shots up in her mind. She smirked and did exactly to avoid the child's plan to mess in her mind. Paralysis through hypnosis and one thing to avoid that is to be not in the sight of the user. She can use the same ability and can clearly counter it.

"Hey kid I'm here" She announced as she appeared behind the little Mina and tried to round kick her.

"Tch. I know." The child managed to get a hold of her feet with a smirk. Mina smiled, Of course she can use the same abilities as I have. She can predict minutes prior.

Mina took out her gun stealthy and fired to the kid but the bullets only slowed down in the mid air. There, she concluded that the child could actually use what she can't use at the moment. The god and red project combined together. The ability that caused the massacre ten years ago. So that explains the purple eyes.

The child who still has her feet in hand tightened her hold. Mina could feel her bone cracking from the force. It does hurt her a little but she can't be bothered about it. The child smiled madly at her. It irks her slightly seeing kid with the exact face as hers ten years ago. Mina let out a sigh and kicked the girl with her free leg. The great force caused her to let go voluntarily and to defend herself. She immediately took a distance from the kid while her other feet is limping.

She looked down at her injured ankle. Lifting it from the ground, she wiggled is slightly and then the bones started to heal itself. The purple skin returned to its normal color. I got what I wanted. It's clear now and all I need is to wait.

"Now then..."

Akira and Chaeyoung stood side by side. Jeong and Nayeon left to get the taller girl into safety. The younger girl was stubborn enough not to go and she knew that her unnie needs some private talk with her lover too.

"See that? do you think you can do something with that monster?" Akira crossed her arms. They're watching the fight not so far from them. Chaeyoung didn't answer instead, she continued to observe the fight. It was obvious that the younger Mina has the upper hand. Even though Mina is still composed and calm, she was clearly being played around.

Chaeyoung formed a fist. She was trying to search in her memory on what way she can possibly help them. She's only newly awakened and she didn't even know what ability she have or if there was a price to it. Her eyes flickers in intense blue from the frustration.

"Stay here. I'll go join the fun." Akira instructed with a small smile on her face. Chaeyoung stopped her friend by holding her wrist. A surge of electricity shot up on her palm and she immediately withdraw. Akira turned to her weirdly.

"Hey are you okay? I definitely have many questions to you but today isn't the time you know." Akira let out a sigh. But Chaeyoung didn't listened. Her mind wanders on her own hand. She suddenly felt the rush of information in her brain stunning her in a trance. Red project, the cage, taking Mina, and how to transform. It wasn't hers... It was Aki's.

"Aki I think I know what I can do." She looked up at her friend who's weirdly staring at her. Eyes flickering in blue, a smile creep in her face. Just then, she suddenly felt numb on her lower body but that was only for a brief seconds. What was that? Shrugging the thoughts away, she decided to focus on the present predicament.

"Chae don't push yourself." Akira warned her. Her eyes glowing in red as she was worried for her friend. "I didn't save you to be killed in the end. So stop whatever you are thinking because it wont do anything from that fake witch."

Chaeyoung bit her lower lips. She knew that. But someone must help them. Mina can't stop that kid for long once she let go of her true strength and the way Mina is extra cautious now shows she knew it herself. I need to think... someone that can help-

"Yo!" A girl in a mask came to the scene. All attention turned to her. Chaeyoung recognized the voice.

Mina relaxed after seeing the captain with a girl in her hold. She has a gun pointed closely to the woman's brain. She expected this knowing their captain's powers is a great advantage for them.

"What took you so long captain?" Mina deadpan and crossed her arms.

"Sorry Sana took lon-"

"Let. Her. Go." A deadly atmosphere submerge the area. Everyone felt it, even Mina itself. She was quite amazed, I mean I also have that power ten years ago or maybe it was stronger than that.

"Hime stop." Jisoo pleaded. She wasn't scared from the gun in her head at the moment. She was scared for the kid might go berserk.

"But unnie she was threatening you." Her deadly stares bore holes into Jihyo's soul. God she look so scary. It's as if I came back to that time.

"Miss I know what you want. Let me go and we will retreat." Jisoo offered a truce. She can't bare to stop the younger woman if she'll start killing anyone her eyes landed into.

"Can I trust you with that?" Jihyo asked. Her tone in business like.

"I am. She also needs a shot or all of us will die." She answered with all seriousness. Jihyo nodded. Slowly, she let down the gun.

"Go."

"Hime let's go" Jisoo approached the kid and took her hand. The little version of Mina has something in her eyes. She looked so pissed. The playful eyes no longer there.

"How dare her to point a gun on you." She grimly spoke. Her eyes full of malicious intent. Jisoo knew it was dangerous. She has to bet that the kid will listen to her. Lifting her palm, she brought it to cover the purple eyes.

"Calm down. Listen to me. We need to go." She instructed in a strict manner. It seems to work as the air around them started to calm down.

"Okay but on our next encounter... I'll kill you all." She remarked and took the hand of the woman she treated as her only family. Before leaving, she took a last glance to Mina. A threatening smile stretched on her lips.

"I'll take everything from you." and then in a blink of an eye they disappeared. Jihyo let out the breathe she didn't know she has been holding all these time. The tension was no joke. Mina still has her serious face then she turned around to see Akira and Chaeyoung standing close together. Her brows knitted in to frown. She approached them along with Jihyo.

"Hey Mina is my eyes broken or I am really seeing Chaeyoung's eyes in shades of blue?" Jihyo just noticed the difference. She don't know how to react. This wasn't in her vision and she clearly didn't expect the girl to be like them because... Chaeyoung was just Mina's childhood sweetheart or is there something more?

Mina turned to the red eyed girl with dark expression.

"Did you do this to her?" Her voice full of accusation. Akira deadpan and sighed.

"Why is everyone pointing fingers on me?" She asked in annoyance.

"It wasn't her. I just- uhm I don't know how to explain." Chaeyoung scratched her nape. She really don't know how to tell the girl. What will she say? that she was the girl Chaeyoung loves and that she don't want to be separated causing for that tragedy of their parting? Sure she can't say that.

"Then why is this stinky feline here?" Mina stared at Akira in coldness. The fight before was already forgotten.

"Woah how am I a stinky feline? you stuck up penguin." She retorts in a snort. Chaeyoung wanted to laugh from the little banter. Now that she has her memory back, she can quite imagine that the two sisters will be like this because way back before, they get along well.

"Stop it. Minari, Aki protected us. She didn't do anything wrong." Chaeyoung defended her friend. It's better to clear up the misunderstanding because clearly their on each other's head. Akira proudly smiled when she felt sided by the woman.

"I don't trust her." Mina squinted her eyes suspiciously to Akira.

"Tch. The feeling is mutual. You didn't even notice that I am Chaeyoung's friend if she didn't mentioned about it. Tell me do you really care?" Akira rolled her eyes. Mina could feel it, she wanted to pluck out some eyeballs for tonight.

"Watch your mouth. It might come off any moment." Mina's eyes flickers in blue. Chaeyoung doesn't know how to stop the two anymore. What should I say? It might fuel the fire more.

"Ohoho come on the-"

Her words was stopped by a sudden clapping coming from the masked girl. She has that amused smile in her lips.

"Daeeebak." She exclaimed. "You just survived a life threatening event and then here you go arguing as if nothing happened. Yeokshi." She continued to clap. The two of them fell silent. Jihyo click her tongue.

"Anyway, instead of wasting your brains here why don't we go back to the hq?" She suggested. Mina sighed and took Chaeyoung's wrist dragging her away. Akira wanted to roll her eyes badly again. She knew there is something romantic happening to the two but she can't help but feel annoyed because first, she's just helping a friend but then the only thing she receives are insults and distrust. Second, can't they just thank her.

"You too Aki come with us. You are part of the group now." Jihyo tapped her shoulder. Aki let out a sigh.

"Am I?" She asked in defeat because she clearly don't know if she's welcome.

"Of course. Thank you for saving our friends." Jihyo smiled to her. At least this person is reasonable enough.

"Well they're my friends too." She answered and they walked together following where the other two left.

"Sorry for judging you too soon." Jihyo sheepishly smiled.

"Not your fault and I don't care too." She shrugged. "We are in the twisted side of the world after all." She chuckled. Jihyo nodded in agreement.

"Well said." Jihyo took a glance at the woman beside her. She studied her face for a moment and then sighed.

"What?" Akira turned to her cluelessly. She has the innocent face on.

"Nothing. I just thought it's a waste." She pouted. Akira looked at her in frown.

"A waste of what?"

"Nothing I was just talking to myself." She chuckled.

"Are you crazy?" Akira eyed her weirdly.

"Tch. I think should consider being one." She laughed. Akira shook her head in defeat. She thought the older girl is far from saving.

At least being crazy, I don't need to have a reason to do something.
