Chapter 25

Mina entered the building after parking the car. She goes straight to the clinic where Dahyun laid unconscious. Momo called her on what happened and when she heard that one of them got hurt. She felt the burn in her blood. The thirst to kill intensifies but this time it is all towards those insolent monsters.

"Dubu..." She saw the girl sleeping. All her wounds already healed but the fact that there is blood and the special substance in IV shows how hard she had been through. Mina gritted her teeth. Dahyun is her comrade, a family that she has been with for those ten years.

"Who did this?" She asked to no one. Her eyes turning into intense blue. She can't calm her growing vexed towards the organization. It is piling up like a dangerous tower of sand.

"Mina" A voice called her from the door. It was Sana.

"I heard about what happened to the two of you. Who did it?" She asked full of coldness in her voice. She is angry but she can't express it. The only thing you will know is the killing intent around her.

"Akira did she is a red subject." Sana lowered her head and gritted her teeth remembering the monster. She's no match to it but she will do everything just to kill it.

"I see." Mina's aura seems to calm down when she heard the name. She walked pass Sana. "Don't worry I'll hand her head to you." She said before finally leaving the room. Sana felt it, like death itself passed through. The chills on her spine is no joke.

Sana inhaled trying to calm herself. Mina is scary but she shouldn't be scared of her friend. Exhaling the fear, she closed the door of the clinic and followed Mina.

"Where is the captain?" Mina asked her while they are on the way to the meeting room.

"She's not here for the moment but she left the explanation to Nayeonie." Sana answered. Mina just nodded.

"Good" Mina patted her shoulder that made Sana wonder what's happening to the world. Mina never once showed them such thing. Is this what captain means? They stopped in front of the meeting room door.

"Minari are you okay?" She asked to her companion.

"I am" She curtly answered. Sana doesn't know but something is really different.

"Well let's go inside." She brushed the thought at the back of her mind and decided to just focus on their plan. She pushed the door open, revealing Momo and Nayeon who seems to be talking about something.

"Oh you're here. Let's start"

"Unnie how did you know?" I asked after I sitting on the sofa.

"Chae promise me before I'll tell you the truth you will listen to me until the very end. No interruptions." She stared at the girl as if implying she means business Chaeyoung is still in trance but nevertheless agreed to the older woman.

"I know Mina." Her first sentence made Chaeyoung frown. She wanted to ask her but she agreed not to interrupt.

"She's under my care for the past ten years and she works as an assassin. I am the one who gave her the assignment to assassinate you.-"

Chaeyoung can't hold her mouth anymore and fired a question.

"What?! How dare you unnie.." She can't believe it herself.

"Listen to me first okay?" Jihyo eyed her sternly. Chaeyoung huffs in anger but still listened.

"I have my reason... I know Mina can't kill you. I didn't know she was your unnie until two months ago. I discovered from the secret files I stole there is a hidden file about her. Chaeyoung, ten years ago I am not normal at all. I am a result of a experiment just like Mina. The God project" Jihyo closed her eyes and just as she opened  them again her irises are already blue. Chaeyoung was hit with realization. Her unnie is indeed an oddball. She always says things as if she knew everything. This is her secret.

"I am one of the special case of God project along with Mina. The others are considered failure. The two of us became friends. Before she lost her memory she always tells me stories about you but I didn't know that the little girl she was talking about is you. The organization has a thing called cage where the childrens being experimented are forced to fight for their life." Jihyo's gaze looked down from the sudden trip of memory in the cage. It was inhumane and hellish.

"The two of us included but Mina is ahead of me in everything. The professors in charge of us favors her and started calling her perfection but the other kids prefered to call her witch. All of us there are orphans or daughters of the mad scientists. Mina is a daughter of the worst one. Her father has been letting her drink the formula to mutate cells. Which made her different from us. She is strong, intelligent but they took it away from her." Jihyo let out a sigh.

"What did they took from her unnie?" Chaeyoung could feels the anger slowly building up from her stomach.

"Her emotions... In exchange of perfection they took her ability to feel affection. Saying that it will be a hindrance to her powers."

So that's it. The answer to my question. Now that I remember, when we were kids unnie has something called medicine that she always told to take. In excuse, she said it was because of her weak body.

Chaeyoung lowered her gaze and realize it herself. Just how hard her unnie has gone through without her. She always sees Mina as the kind and gentle person she is but those people changed her. She can't forgive it. Not a chance.

"So what is your reason for telling me this?" She returned to look at Jihyo's orbs.

"We escaped ten years ago but that was because Mina lost to the power. She can't control herself anymore and caused a massive massacre. She killed every professor, security, burned the facility, and even beheaded her father. Do you know the reason for her berserk?" Jihyo eyed her gently with a weak smile. Chaeyoung just stared at her as if she knew already what the woman will say.

"It was because the organization threatened her that they will get you and kill you that made her lost it."

Chaeyoung can't believe it herself. Her unnie did that because of her. Ugh too much information makes my head hurts.

"In order to stop her I need to do it." Jihyo avoided her gaze and turned to the glass window.

"What did you do unnie? don't tell-"

"Yes I was the one who made her forgot everything about you. For the sake of everyone's lives. I used my secret ability. Memory manipulation. It's like hypnotism but stronger."

"So that's why" Chaeyoung lowered her head in realization. Now that answers everything she wanted to know about her unnie. The revelation is too much to process.

"I'm sorry but if given the chance to go back I would still do the same. The reason why I'm telling you this is because i need you to save her. The organization is hunting us especially Mina. We need you to keep everyone safe." Jihyo stood up from her seat and approached her. Jihyo was right, if she was in her place maybe she will do it too.

"W-what is it?"

"Make her feel love again but don't let her remember you." Jihyo bit her lower lip. She knew this is a hard request but this is important for all of them.

"Unnie what are you trying to say?" Chaeyoung herself can't understand it. She wanted Mina to remember her. How desperate she is for that. She thought she can finally do something to make her remember because of that nightmare but no... It's as if the heavens won't let her.

"She must not remember Chaeng because if she will she'll lost it again. I have been concealing my identity to  her to avoid letting her recognize me. Once she saw my face with my blue eyes everything will be in chaos. A hateful monster will wake up and she will kill even the innocent ones. This is something only you can do. Please..." Jihyo started to get on her knees. Chaeng can't move to her seat. She can't...

Can I give up my first love?

Jeongyeon is on a walk towards the nearby store to buy some food. She has been laying all this time and she felt bored. On her way to the store she saw a woman who seems to be fighting with the ice cream vendor.

"Ajusshi can't you just give me a small cup for 100 won?" The woman beg.

"No you always say that. My boss will scold me if I let you have your way again." The middle aged man denied her request.

"Tsk your boss won't know if you won't tell him." She argued.

"Yah kids this days are really shameless." He snorts.

"As if old people like you are better!"

Jeongyeon listened to their banter and decided to fix the problem. It's not like she wanted to join the mess but it's really annoying to witness such childish argument just because of an ice cream.  What's with this girl?

"Excuse me. I'll pay for her so just give it to her." Jeongyeon handed a bill to the vendor. The woman stopped too and stared at her as if she's an alien from an unknown planet.

"You know that woman? you should teach her some manners." The old man hissed and get the order.

"Sorry ajusshi." Jeong coyly smiled and turned to the lady.

"I paid for it already please enjoy." She said.

"Who are you?" The woman asked with curious look on her face. Jeongyeon wanted to answer her but the man already called.

"Here is your ice cream." The man handed Jeongyeon the ice cream without even sparing a glance to the woman.

"Thank you. Here you go." Jeong handed it to her which she gladly accepted. Seeing the ice cream makes the woman eyes twinkles.

"You really like ice cream?" She asked to the smiling woman.

"Yeah it's my salvation to this worthless world." She answered without looking at Jeong. Aw she looked so excited, it reminded me of Nayeon.

"Such words. I'll get going." She chuckled and took a step back.

"Wait! What's your name?" The woman stopped her by holding her wrist. Uhm is it okay to tell her? there's no harm to it I guess?

"Yoo Jeongyeon." She answered with a puzzled smile.

"Jeongie huh I'll remember it! I owe you one." The woman waved at her and started walking on the other direction. What a weird person. She decided to just go back on her trip to the store but-

"Hey!" Jeong called. The woman turned around with a smile.

"You did not tell me your name?!" she shouted since the woman is already a bit far from her. It's only fair to know her name too. Who knows they might meet again. She saw the woman giggle.

"Akira! My name is Akira!" and with that the woman continued to walk on her way. She looks too happy while skipping.

Tsk what a kid.. Well what should I eat?
