Chapter 20

The sun is up, lighting the world with its petals stretching ever outwards into the rich blue. It is the brilliant flower of the sky that warms the days. Under the bathing ray of the sun through the window is the sleeping cub. The light stirred her from her sleep and apparently woke her up.

"Arghh" She clutched on her aching head who feels like she was forced to bump on a concrete wall. What the fuck happened?

She reached for her drawer but then she saw a the medicine already waiting above with a water besides it. She took the medicine and drink the water. Her throat is so dry and her breath stinks from seems like alcohol. Ugh yeah I did drink with Jeong unnie yesterday.

She looked around her room and then to herself. She still wears the same clothes and it seems like she just knocked herself out at the bar yesterday because she can't remember a thing about what happened after. Waiting for the medicine to take effect she continued to lay on her bed. Wait did Jeong unnie brought me home?

Feeling that she's good to stand, she decided to go get something to eat. Something like a hot soup. On her way to the kitchen, a delicious smell welcomes her. She saw Mina cooking something that looks like a yukaejang. Chaeyoung's mouth water from the appetizing food.

"Good morning" Mina greeted when she saw the woman standing besides her.

"Woah yeoksi our Minari is the best." she stated but her eyes were glued on the food.

"Tsk how was your hangover?" Mina asked.

"You know?" Chaeyoung looked at her in surprise.

"Of course I was the one who brought you here." Mina smirked. Chaeyoung's mind blanked out. She stared at the woman as if looking for some hint for a lie.

"But how? I mean I did not call you- "

"The bartender called me using your phone. You and Jeong unnie passed out. Nayeon is with me when we came to get you two." Mina explained. Now everything is clear to her.

"Fuck did Nayeon unnie got mad?" She asked in concern.

"Hmm I think so. She let us go first saying she needs to talk to Jeong." Mina nonchalantly said.

"Then how about me? Did I do something wrong?" Chaeyoung bite her lower lips. Afraid that she might hear something stupid she did the night before.

"Oh about you... Hmm let's see if Chaeyoung did something wrong." Mina teased her while acting like she's trying to remember something. Chaeyoung's heart is beating so fast, nervous for what the girl might say.

"You just acted like a baby and asked me to carry you." Mina smiled and Chaeyoung painfully close her eyes and shut her lips tight. As I thought ugh.

"Nothing else?" She weakly asked.

"I carried you on my back and you keep calling me unnie which I figured is the girl that you're in love with right?" Mina intentionally leave out the kiss part. She herself can't explain what happened. Just remembering about it makes her feel weird. She lowkey felt relief that the woman doesn't remember anything or the atmosphere might be awkward again. After agreeing to Chaeyoung's idea, both of them decided to act like that night never happened.

"Yeah she is" Chaeyoung smiled bitterly. Aish so stupid of me.

"Let's eat you have a work to do."

Momo and Nayeon stood side by side looking at a certain building where their target is suspected to hide. They shared a look before going inside the small inn.

"Are you checking in ma'am?" The lady in the lobby desk asked.

"Yes one room please." Nayeon smiled and the woman took care of their room.

"Here's the key. The room is in second floor." The woman gave them their key and the proceed to go up.

"Nayeon-ssi you look stressed." Momo noticed the small crease from the woman's brows. Nayeon looked at her and sigh.

"I got into fight last night with my girlfriend" She answered.

"Oh must be nasty." Momo smirked and Nayeon just nod in agreement.

"It is. She turned out to be feeling left out." She sigh. Momo patted her shoulder.

Flashback

Jeongyeon still has her head down while Nayeon is crossing her arms waiting for the girl to say something. They're now at the nearby park. Jeong sat on the swing while Nayeon is just standing in front of her. She wanted to know what's her reason before getting angry at the girl.

"Nayeonie Im just sad." Jeongyeon started. Nayeon raised a brow.

"About what?"

Jeongyeon sigh.

"I felt like you are being distant to me." Jeong confessed. Nayeon's gaze soften when she heard her lover's reason. Oh God did I gone blind?

"I- I felt like I'm a stranger to your life." The taller woman is fighting the urge to cry. Nayeon continued to listen.

"Like you are hiding something to me, like you don't trust me. I'm not stupid Nabong but I decided to respect you and wait for the time for you to loosen up and-" She stopped, realizing she's talking so fast. Jeong inhaled and sigh before continuing. "I'm sorry, I promised that I wouldn't ask about it." Maybe it is the alcohol that made her have the courage to let go what has been bothering her all this time.

Nayeon can't say anything. She can't tell her. Not now that they're on a hunt with a very dangerous organization. I can't let you get involve Jeong. But is that just it? Or I'm just being a coward afraid of rejection?

"I'm sorry." She bite her lips to suppress the threatening tears, guilt at the pit of her stomach. Jeongyeon chuckled hearing her sorry.

"It's okay. I understand." The woman stood up and brush the glistening tears before it could fall. She look up to meet her gaze. Nayeon is at the verge of crying.

"I'm fine now we should go." She smiled. But Nayeon knows better that it wasn't genuine at all. Jeong noticed her lover who looks like going to cry any minute and so she decided to pull her for a hug.

"Aigoo my baby is going to cry." she cooed trying to calm her woman.

"But I hurt you." Nayeon finally let go of her tears. Ugh pathetic why am I the one crying?!

"It's okay. I can still wait for you. I just came to comfort our baby cub not because I really want to drink." Jeongyeon chuckled and pulled away.

"Chaeyoung? why did something happened?" Nayeon asked while Jeongyeon is brushing her tears away. The taller woman kissed her lover's forehead knowing exactly that it will calm her down.

"Well..."

End of Flashback.

Jeong told her about what the cub is going through. Hearing it from the woman makes her think of a possibility. It gave her more hope that Jihyo is indeed telling the truth that Mina will never hurt Chaeyoung.

She was snap back in reality when Momo speak up.

"In our life it's hard to focus on more than one thing you know?" -Momo.

"I know but she's my life now. I don't know if I can live without her anymore." Nayeong smiled to herself remembering the woman who gave her a reason to live.

"You can." Momo eyed her as if saying something she only knows. Nayeong looked at her curiously.

"Did you fall in love already Momo-ssi?" She asked. Momo laughed hearing her question.

"Just call me Momo and yes I did once though that was ten years ago?" Momo answered not even sure about it. Nayeon snickered and nudge her.

"First love?" She teased. Momo didn't answer and just shrug.

"Oh come on you can find someone else." Nayeon stop walking and faced her. Momo stare at her for a moment before she answers.

"Well we never know."

Back to work, is what Chaeyoung wants to describe her day. They're on their way to Jihyo to give the signed contract only to find out that the woman is not around. Her assistant said she's out for a business trip. Where in reality, she's out to spy someone. Chaeyoung decided to just leave the contract on her office.

"What should we do now?" Mina asked when they got out of Jihyo's office.

"I'm going to call Jihyo unnie to ask." Chaeyoung took out her phone to call her unnie.

"Hello cub?" Jihyo answered.

"Unnie odiga? I drop by your office and they said you're out for a business trip?" -Chae.

"Yeah I have a favor for you to do. It's on my desk, the choices for the concept I want you to do the work for me. Maybe for you to go out too." Jihyo is smiling on the other line. She planned it herself.

"Wae? you have interns unnie. I'm a music producer not your assistant." Chaeyoung complained. Mina heard it and chuckled. Chaeyoung looked at her with a raised brow. The penguin just shook her head. You do feel like the assistant between the two of us.

"oh come on cub. I know you are the epitome of talent. You are an artist yourself. Surely you have the eyes in those things." Jihyo pursued.

"Aish unnie~" She whined. Jihyo laughed on the other line.

"You can do it baby cub~" She cooed and Chaeyoung deadpan.

"There are two choices I'm having difficulty in choosing so help me out okay? love you baby cub mwah" Before Chaeyoung could refuse the woman ended the call. What the-

"Let me guess she gave you another work?" Mina stood by her side waiting for her to say what they talked about.

"Yeah and she gave me the right to decide for the first concept." Chaeyoung look at her in frustration.

"Oh how many options?" Mina asked. Chaeyoung raised two fingers.

"You have two choices and it's a yes or yes?" Mina asked unsure. Chaeyoung nodded in confirmation. "Why don't you just accept it?"

"Because I want to have some quality time with you?" She answered and unsure too.

"And why is that?" she asked back.

"Because I promised to help you find out what's happening there." She pointed at Mina's heart. Mina looked down to her chest. Oh this I forgot to ask Momo about it.

"Let's do that after your work okay?" Mina smiled and patted Chaeyoung's head. She entered the office first. Chaeyoung was stunned. The act makes her feel those butterflies again. She felt her ears heating up. Jesus Mina you're a living bomb.

After calming herself, she followed the girl back inside Jihyo's office. She saw Mina holding a folder. The assistant handed it to her.

"I think that's it."

Chaeyoung opened the folder and scanned the papers. At the first page is a sticky note where Jihyo wrote the two concept to choose. It's basically a guide on what she has to do.

"fantasy and movies?" She look up to meet Mina's eyes. Mina nodded.

"And I found two tickets." Mina showed her two tickets. Chae drop her jaw.

"We are going to universal studios?!" she can't believe it. What is unnie thinking?!

"Well it looks like we will." Mina nonchalantly examined the tickets.

"That's in Japan Minari." Chaeyoung argued. It's not like she hates to go but it is too sudden to go. The idea actually favored her.

"So? I am a japanese Chae. Language is not a problem."

"That's not the point. I know how to speak japanese it's just.. too sudden? Japan is not a walk away. We have to prepare for our flight." Chaeyoung whined. They just returned from their trip days ago and now another flight to another country.

"It's okay we can do that. Just take your camera and do your job photographer-nim." Mina smiled. Chaeyoung took a deep breath and exhaled. Okay I could work this out too.

"Hai hai" she gave up.

Maybe I can use this time to do something.

Jihyo is currently sitting on the passenger seat, waiting for any suspicious person to go out from the hotel. Once they saw them, Jihyo will notice it. Momo made something like a chemical tracker for special people like them.

"Unnie why did you send them to Japan?" Tzuyu asked who's on the driver seat.

"I need them to be far away from the organization as much as possible. I am having visions of bad scenario." Jihyo answered.

"Are we safe in your visions as well?"

"That is something.. I can't answer."

Because there's no safe place for us anymore.
