Chapter 8 of 25

9 | Home

You walk to the couch were Sam and Jess were making out on. You groan inwardly and pull on Sam's shoulder.

"Hey! Stop making out! Making me feel like the third wheel," you mumble and sit between the two of them. Jess chuckles and Sam scoffs.

"You are the third wheel, Y/n." He groans.

"Hush! Y/n is a gift to this world," Jessica says as she hugs you. You stick your tongue out at Sam and he chuckles. He takes a swig from his beer bottle.

You look around at the party and notice Dan staring at you with a smile on his face.

Well, that's not creepy at all.

Dan Miller is a student at Stanford and has been trying to ask you out for like a month now. He's the popular guy and apparently, it doesn't look good for his reputation if someone turns him down. So you did.

It's not that he's not nice. It's just that with all the stress of college, you don't want to date. Dating is a distraction from what's important.

"Hey, Dan's looking here," you mumble and look down. Sam and Jess turn to look there and Sam scoffs.

"You know, I've had enough with this jackass," he gets up and stares at Dan. "I'm talking to him about this." You raise your eyebrows looking at him. His nostrils were flared and his jaw was clenched.

He's probably getting this angry because he's drunk.

"No, Sam. Sit down. I'll talk to him." You sigh and get up, making your way over to where Dan was standing. You suddenly feel uncomfortable in your black halter top. His back is facing you now.

"Hey, Dan," you say.

His eyes lit up and he turned away from his friends. "Hey, Y/n." His voice was husky and his eyes roamed your body. You fold your arms above your chest.

"Can we talk?"

"Sure," Dan smiles and looks back at his friends. You calm yourself down. Nothing was going to happen.

You walk to the hallway leading to the kitchen because there were hardly any people there. Probably a bad idea.

"Dan... What is your problem?"

"What do you mean, honey?" He gets too close for comfort and looks down at you. You could feel his breath on your forehead.

"Don't make me push you, Dan," you say. He runs his hands up your arm and settles them on your shoulders.

"I don't think you want to," he whispers. You gather up the nerves to push him. Right when you were going to, you hear a familiar voice but it was drowned out by the music.

"She said back off, champ."

Dan scoffs while still looking at you, lust marking the features of his face. He sighs and turns around, still keeping one hand on you.

"What are you going to do about it, Sammy?" He asks. You inhale sharply and twist your head to look at Sam. You shake your head slightly. Both of them were drunk. Both of them could get hurt.

Sam chuckles and looks down before giving Dan an uppercut.

"What the f-" You start but stop when Dan recovers and hits Sam's jaw.

"Sam!" You shout and a crowd starts forming around you guys. Someone pulls you aside but you couldn't care less.

Sam stands up straight. Dan pulls his hand back to deliver another shot but Sam grabs his hand and twists it. Dan groans and Sam completely turns him around easily. He pushes him onto the ground and Dan lands with a thud.

How did he do that? So easily too?

Jess rushes from nowhere to your side and the crowd starts to disperse. Dan gives one last look at you and leaves. Jessica asks you some questions but you only look at Sam. Everything else was a blur. He wiped the trickle of blood that came from his lip with his thumb. He looks at you with furrowed eyebrows before stumbling into the kitchen for a beer.

"Y/n!"

You wake up and sit up straight. Your legs were asleep and so was your left hand. You groan and look up at the guys.

"Come on, there's a motel here," Dean says and gets off the car. Sam lingers back and turns to look at you.

"Hey, you okay?" Sam asks and looks at you worriedly.

You rub your forehead. "Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"

"You were saying my name in your sleep," Sam says and your eyes widen. You look up at him but he was looking anywhere but at you and blushing.

Man, this boy got nervous over everything.

A part of you hoped it was because he had feelings for you. But you knew that it was only a wish.

You sigh and think it's best not to lie. "I just- I dreamt about Dan at that party," you mumble quietly.

Sam sighs and looks at you. "Still thinking about that?"

"It's been worse," you chuckle humourlessly. "I dream of times where you weren't there too. What he would have done if you weren't there." Sam purses his lips and looks at you pitifully.

"I've been meaning to ask... Is that how you knew how to fight him off? Because of all this training you had?"

He nods. "Yeah."

"I'm glad I met you, Sam," you say, not realizing that those six words had a deeper impact on him than you had intended.

He gives you a smile. You find yourself smiling too.

~~

You look towards the sofa. At least this motel had a comfortable and clean one.

Ever since you had joined the boys, you had slept on the couch. It was no biggie since most of them comfortable most of the time. And anyway, you had discovered this new website called YouTube and you watched the videos on it. Even though they were sorta weird. (A/n: I'm pretty sure that YouTube was started in 2005 so... I'm hoping I'm right乁 ˘ o ˘ ㄏ)

You settle into the couch and open up your laptop. You also had only one DVD that you carried with you.

Titanic.

~

"I'll never let go, Jack," you sniff as Kate Winslet aka Rose cries. It was around two in the morning and the boys were sleeping.

"There's enough place for two!" You whisper shout and the tears come falling down. You tried to not sniff because you didn't want Dean to wake up and see you watching Titanic. He'd never let you live it down.

Jack sinks and you sniff again.

You jerk your head to sudden muffled noise you hear. You remove your crappy earphones and look at Sam sitting up in his bed. He was sweating and breathing heavily.

You place your laptop on the sofa and walk to him. "Sam?"

He whips his head to your direction and relaxes. "Y/n. What- what are you doing up?" He massages his forehead.

You walk to his bed and suddenly become nervous. The tank top and the shorts you wore covered very less.

"I just woke up," you grasp an excuse. He gives you a look but just looks down again. You subtly wipe your tears.

You sit on the edge and place your hand on his. "Nightmare?"

He had been having nightmares of Jess's death. You were concerned because whenever he tried to sleep, he would wake up sometime later, sweaty and startled.

He shakes his head slightly and looks back up at you. "I had...a vision," He mumbles.

"A vision?"

"Yeah, it's- I don't know. I just saw something and I think it's going to happen." He looks down again.

"Has it happened before?" You ask quietly and bend down slightly to look into his eyes.

"No," he replies quickly. He was lying. Sam had lied to you before and you knew how he acted when he did. But you decided not to push him.

"What did you see?"

"I don't know. I'm still trying to process it," he says, groaning slightly when he tries to sit comfortably.

"Oh ok," you mumble. You were about to withdraw your hand but he holds it tightly. "Sam...do you want me to wake up Dean?"

"No, let him sleep."

He gazes into your eyes and you feel your heart going crazy in your chest.

"Why are you coming with us, Y/n? Hunting...hunting is a curse. Once you get into it, you can't get out. Crazy people get into this life." He asks and he gives you the puppy dog stare.

You chuckle humourlessly. "Well, I am crazy, aren't I?" When he doesn't laugh, you sigh.

"I don't- after losing Jessica, I couldn't lose you too, Sammy. You've been there for me all this time and the least I can do is be there for you. After all," your heart goes still when you say it.

"We are best friends."

He smiles warmly and looks down at your hands and in doing so looks at what you were wearing. He takes in a sharp breath and looks away. "I think I'm going to sleep now." You didn't notice but take your hand back and smile at him once more before getting up and making your way to the couch.

"And the next time you watch Titanic," he says behind you and you freeze. "Call me too."

You relax and smile to yourself. Without turning back, you show him your middle finger and he scoffs.

~~

"Alright. I've been cruising some websites. Think I found a few candidates for our next gig," Dean says half-mindedly while taking a sip of his coffee.

"Like what?" You ask while drying your hair. You had just come out of the shower.

"A fishing trawler found of the coast of Cali. Its crew vanished. And we got some cattle mutilations in West Texas."

You turn your head to Sam when Dean tilts his head at him with a questioning look. You shrug and he speaks. "Hey! Am I boring you with this hunting-evil stuff?"

"No, I'm listening. Keep going."

After your little incident the previous night, as soon as Sam woke up, he started sketching something. You had gotten a glimpse of it; it looked like a tree.

"And here a Sacramento man shot himself in the head three times," he holds up his three fingers.

You stifle a laugh but Dean turns to you with an eyebrow raised. "That's sort of funny," you mumble and look down when he gives you an exasperated look. He continues moving his hand up and down in front of Sam. "Any of these blowing up your skirt, pal?" He looks at you and winks and you chuckle.

"Wait, I've seen this," Sam says, not acknowledging what Dean had said.

"Seen what?" You ask, getting a bit weirded out and worried.

Sam gets off the bed and walks up to their bag that was on the sofa next to you. "What are you doing?" You ask irritatedly when he elbows you by mistake.

He mumbles an apology and takes his dad's journal out and takes out a picture.

"Guys, I know where we have to go next," he looks at you wide-eyed.

"Where?"

"Back home. Back to Kansas." You swallow your words back. This conversation was going to be about their family and you didn't want to intervene.

Dean scoffs. "Ok, random. Where'd that come from?"

"Alright, um- this photo was taken in front of our old house, right?" Sam asks and walks over to Dean. You get up too and walk over to them. You stand a bit further though; awkwardly. "The house where mom died?" You raise your eyebrows slightly. The whole burning on the ceiling happened in that house. It was weird. It always happened to women in Sam's life.

"Yeah," Dean asks warily, not liking where the conversation was taking them.

"It didn't burn down completely? They rebuild it, right?"

"I guess so, yeah. What the hell are you talking about?"

"Okay, look, this is going to sound crazy but the people who live in our old house... I think they might be in danger."

You furrow your eyebrows and speak. "Is this about your vision, Sam?" Sam looks at you and back at Dean but before he can answer, Dean speaks.

"What vision?" He sounded confused and angry.

"It's not a vision. It's like these nightmares that I have. Sometimes, they come true."

"Come again," Dean says with a you've-got-to-be-joking look on his face.

"Look, Dean," Sam looks at you warily and continues. "I dreamt about Jessica's death days before it happened."

You stumble back as if he had shoved you. You couldn't understand. What-

"What do you mean?" Your voice was quiet as you looked at him. A wave of anger went over you and you felt yourself on edge.

"Y/n, I didn't-"

"So, you're telling me that you could have stopped Jessica's death?" You ask, your voice raising. You felt tears sting your eyes and you tried holding them back. You take a step forward and stare at him.

"Y/n, sane people can have weird dreams," Dean intervenes. "I'm sure it's just a coincidence."

"No, I dreamt of the blood dripping, her on the ceiling, the fire, everything and I didn't do anything about it because I didn't believe it."

It was like he was asking to get his ass beat.

"I- I need a minute," you stumble out of the motel room as Sam's sad eyes follow you. At that moment, you forgot about your feelings for Sam. Forgot about the family in their old house.

Jessica was like a sister to you. She had been there with you through everything as Sam had been. She was like your platonic soulmate. All those unsaid words between you guys that you wish you spoke; all the small fights you wish that never happened. You would give anything to bring her back.

After standing outside for about ten minutes, you cleared your head. The calm hatred you felt froze the blood flowing through your veins. You needed to know why; why Sam didn't believe it. His mom had died the same way so he ought to have done something. As you walk back, you hear Dean speak loudly and Sam pleading him.

So we were going after all.

You open the door and stalk into the room, keeping your gaze straight ahead and not looking at either of the boys.

"Y/n-" Sam starts but you cut him off.

"Save it. Let's just go," you carry your bag outside and hear Sam leave a defeated sigh.

~~

"You gonna be alright, man?" Sam glances at you while asking Dean but you keep your eyes on the house.

"Let me get back to you on that one."

You guys make your way to the door and you knock.

"Yes?" A blonde woman opens the door.

"Sorry to bother you, ma'am, but we're with the federal-"

"I'm Sam Winchester and this is my brother, Dean. This is my friend, Y/n," Sam says and you don't mind correcting that to best because at the moment, you found it hard to believe. "We used to live here. You know, we were just driving by and we were wondering if we could see the old place," Sam speaks in a polite voice.

"Winchester," the lady says. You raise your eyebrow. She looks at you briefly and you smile. "That is so funny. You know, I-I think I found some of your photos the other night."

"You did?" Dean asks. You look at him and notice that he was quite uncomfortable being here.

The lady turns back and hesitates in answering. You smile at her and she steps back. "Ok, come on in."

You look at the hallways as you walk, catching glimpses of cardboard boxes filled to the brim with household items.

After introducing you guys to her kids, you ask her whether she had just moved in. She replies with a yes, saying that she moved from Wichita.

"You got family here?" Dean asks, still with an awkward smile plastered on his face.

"No, I just, uh, needed a fresh start. That's all." She looks down and you feel like she had lost someone. You didn't see her husband, so maybe it was him that she lost, he was at work or she was a single parent from the start. "So, new town, new job. I mean as soon as I find one. New house," she says with a smile.

It was, to say the least, awkward. You three just stood there examining the house.

"So, how you liking it so far?"

You choose not to talk much because knowing yourself, you knew that you would dump your anger on some poor person and end up regretting it horribly.

After complaining about flickering lights and scratching noises, Jenny's daughter talked about how there was someone on fire in her bedroom the previous night.

~~

After Dean left to use the bathroom, you and Sam stood awkwardly together.

You guys were trying to figure out what was happening while the Impala was getting filled with gas. It was mostly Sam and Dean but you gave in some inputs. But now that Dean was gone, the air around you guys got heavy.

Since you knew nothing was going to happen, you make your way to the backseat only to be stopped by Sam holding your wrist. "Y/n..."

You wrench your hand out of his but turn to him with your hands inside your jacket pocket and your jaw clenched. "What?" You say, a bit too harshly.

"It- I blame myself for whatever happened, ok? I really do. But I can't have you not talk to me, Y/n. Please. I'll take the blame. Do whatever you want to me but don't ignore me," his voice breaks and he gives you his signature puppy-dog eyes look. You feel your heart aching but the stubborn part of you denied your heart's wishes.

"You should have told me this before. Before it even happened, Sam. Because of your ignorance," you jab your finger at him. "I've lost someone close to me." You feel tears in your eyes just thinking of Jessica.

First, you lost your friend and now you were arguing with another.

He looks down and shakes his head. When he doesn't answer, you just scoff and walk to the car, closing the door with a loud thump. You didn't notice the tear running down Sam's cheek.

~~

You didn't hear anything that the mechanic said. Because inside you, a war was taking place.

Talk to him. He's your friend. You guys can work it out.

Your subconscious wasn't making things easier for you. It was like the angel and devil on your shoulder.

He blames himself too. For not doing anything. He has nightmares all the time. And if you had gotten to their apartment earlier, she would be alive.

You gasp at what crossed your mind. You never considered what would have happened if you had reached the apartment earlier. Dean looks at you and frowns.

"You alright?"

You turn around and see where you were. After the mechanic mentioned something about psychics helping out their dad find out the truth of what happened to their mom, you guys had gone to the nearest payphone and we're going through all the psychics in town. You were standing beside Dean, leaning on the Impala while Sam was at the payphone, searching for the possible candidate.

You nod your head with a tight smile and force yourself not to think about it. To only see the black and the white. Not the gray.

~~

"All right, there. Don't you worry 'bout a thing. Your wife is crazy about you." A pleasant-looking dark-skinned woman escorts a man outside her house. She turns to the three of you sitting in the waiting room and speaks."Whew. Poor bastard. His woman is cold-bangin' the gardener."

You raise your eyebrows at her choice of words.

"Why didn't you tell him?" Dean asks with the same expression as you. The three of you get up together and you cringe at that.

"People don't come here for the truth. They come for good news. Well? Sam and Dean, come on already, I ain't got all day. Well, lemme look at ya. Oh, you boys grew up handsome. And you," she gestures to Dean. "Were one goofy-lookin' kid, too. Sam. Oh, honey... I'm sorry about your girlfriend. And your father he's missin'?"

Before Sam can question her she turns to you. "Oh! Honey, what's wrong? Just cause someone special in your life hurts you, don't mean that you sulk like that." Your mouth hangs open and Sam looks at you with an amused yet hurt expression. "What's your name?"

"Y/n Y/l/n," you reply warily. "How did you know that?" You ask.

She ignores you and continues speaking, her voice suddenly grave. "Y/l/n, you say? Your parents... something is going to or already has happened to them." You feel your heart drop.

"What?" You whisper.

"Call them, right now," Sam intervenes and you nod. You mumble an apology and exit the room, breathing in the fresh air. You lift your phone and you dial your mom's number. With every ring, you feel your heart thundering in your chest.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring. "Pick up, damn it!" You whisper shout.

"Hello?"

"Mom!"

"Y/n. What's wrong?" She asks, worry lacing her voice and you feel your heart lighten.

"No, nothing's wrong. Is everything fine there? How's Dad?" You ask, the doubt still in you.

"He's fine. Everything's fine. Y/n, what happened?"

"Nothing, mom. Just...take care. I'm coming after this case," you bite your tongue as soon as you say it.

"Case? What case?" She asks anger marking her words.

Why was she getting angry?

"Case of the flu!" You almost shout. "Sam has the flu and I'm taking care of him. It's no big deal." You shrug even though she can't see you.

"Okay, just don't get it too," she replies warily and you cut the call. Your heart beats slowly. You calm yourself down from the slight scare and feel some of your pent up rage go towards Missouri. She lied to you. But she probably was a fake psychic. You shrug and walk back inside. The boys were in the middle of explaining the case to Missouri when you walked in. Sam gets up immediately and steps forward once but stops. Dean looks at you wide-eyed while Missouri looked at you with a questioning look.

"So?" She asks as you walk into the room with your hands folded above your chest.

"She said they were fine. And anyway, after all of this," you gesture around you. "I'm going back." You didn't mean to let it slip and mentally scold yourself.

Sam settles back down and you swore you saw a pained expression flash across his face.

You sit down but your mind drifted to everything bad that had happened since you met Sam Winchester.

~~

"If there's a dark energy around here, this room should be the center of it," Missouri says as you walk into a room with blue walls.

"Why?" You ask, your interest piqued.

"Because this was Sam's nursery," she states and turns around to look at the three of you. Sam's eyes immediately dart to the ceiling and you ached to do something- anything at all. But you stayed put. He almost caught you looking at him but you turn away just in time.

Missouri does her psychic thing and Dean gets his EMF out. It went red and started making an irritating frequency sound.

"I don't know if you boys should be disappointed or relieved but this ain't the thing that took your mom," she looks at the boys with furrowed eyebrows.

"How do you know?" Sam asks. He looks troubled.

"It's not the same energy I felt the last time I was here. It's something different," she speaks slowly.

"What is it then?" You ask, furrowing your brows when she walks up to the closet and opens it.

"Not it...them," she says. "There's more than one spirit in this place." She enters the closet and stands there.

"What they doin' here?" Dean asks. You start feeling uneasy. More than one spirit. That was bad news.

"They're here because of what happened to your family. You see all those years ago, real evil came to you. It walked this house. That kind of evil leaves wounds and sometimes wounds get infected."

"I don't understand," Sam says warily. But you did...sort of.

You felt guilty. Everything that has happened to Sam. His mom, his dad, Jess. And now you were blaming him. You suddenly felt a surge of anger go through you. But not at Sam. At yourself.

"This place is a magnet for paranormal energy. It's attracted a poltergeist... A nasty one. And it won't rest until Jenny and her babies are dead." You take in a sharp breath. They were innocent. They didn't do anything.

"You said there was more than one spirit," you say as you feel emotions surge in you.

"There is," she pauses and continues speaking." I just can't quite make out the second one."

"Well one thing's for damn sure.

Nobody's dying in this house ever again."

~~

"We have to move fast. Once they know what we're up to, they're not going to make it any easy. Y/n and Sam, you guys will take the second floor. Dean and I will manage the ground and basement," Missouri says and you miss the sly glance she gives Dean.

After Jenny and her kids leave, you grab a hammer and walk upstairs. Sam walked behind you. You turn to him and speak. "I'll take the west and south. You take the east and north." He nods. "Y/n. Just... be careful," he mumbles and looks at you.

"Yeah, you too." You walk towards the room.

Your first room was easy. Nothing had happened.

You bend down and hit the wall of the second room slightly with your hammer, to check if there were any pipes. When you found none, you turn around to check if anything was wrong. You break the wall and chuck the bag in. You chuckle as you get up.

"Well, that was easy-" the dressing table surges towards you and you move just in time. You stay shocked for a minute and before you could chuckle again, the table moves sideways at you and the edge hits your thigh. You swear and limp out of the room.

If that spirit hurt you after you put the bag in the wall, that meant that Sam wasn't done.

You limp your way into the room Sam was in and swear again.

He was sprawled on the floor and his hands were pulling at something around his neck. His face was red with suffocation. Your eyes quickly dart to where that black thing was coming from and you realize that it was a lamp's wire.

You move too fast for your brain to register it. When you run the remaining distance between Sam and you, your thigh screams in agony but you push it to the back of your head.

You bend down and breathe his name out. If he died-

You see the small bag and pick it up. You hit your hammer against the wall and stuff the bag inside.

A white energy surges out from the room and you get pushed back a bit.

After recovering to whatever the hell happened you turn your attention to Sam. He still lay sprawled on the ground and was taking shallow breaths.

You swear and bend over him and you yank the wire from his throat.

Lifting him up, you hugged him tightly. His arms were limp. You whimper. "No, Sam."

His eyes flutter open and your chest relaxes. You move your hair to the other shoulder so he can breathe properly and you start whispering random words to him.

"Sam... You're fine... I'm here now... I'm not leaving... I-"

You almost muttered the three words that would change everything between you guys. You gulp and continue mumbling words to him.

After what felt like forever, he brings his arms around and tilts his head in a way that his forehead touched the side of your neck and cheek on your chest. Your heart went crazy in your chest and you were pretty sure that he felt it.

You kept mumbling and felt a tear run down your cheek.

~~

"Dean will clean it up," Missouri says and you would laugh if you weren't exhausted.

"I'll help," you say nonetheless.

You remove the knives from the table and set it straight. You clean up the mess from the fridge too. Sam and Missouri were talking to Jenny in the living room.

"It must be hard," you say as you close the fridge. "Coming here. I wouldn't."

Dean looks up at you and raises an eyebrow. "Yeah, it's..." He doesn't continue but he didn't need for you to understand.

"Is everything fine with you guys now? I saw you hugging upstairs," he asks.

You don't question him but just sigh. "I don't forgive him. Not just yet."

"Talk to him. I'm sure there's more to it." He sighs and the two of you silently continue cleaning.

~~

"Why are we still here?" You groaned. You and Sam spoke a bit but it was all too awkward.

"I just have a bad feeling," Sam mutters. "Hey look!" He points to the house and you look up to see Jenny banging on the window of her room.

"Shit," you tumble out of the car and run to the front door with Sam and Dean.

"I'll get Jenny, you guys get the kids!" Dean shouts.

Adrenaline rushes into you as you run upstairs behind Sam. "I'll get Ritchie!"

You barrel into the room and pick him up. "Hey, Ritchie. It's okay. It's me, Y/n." You mumble. You run into Sari's room just in time to see the flaming figure and Sam mumbling something to Sari.

"Let's go!" He shouts to you and your senses come back to you. You hold Ritchie's head as you run down. You turn back only to see Sam hesitating in exiting the house. "Sam, come on!"

"Y/n, take them outside."

He falls to the ground as something yanks him and you gasp. "Take your brother outside as fast as you can and don't look back," you say to Sari and look back down the hallway.

Just when Sari leaves, you turn back to look outside, when the door shuts. You see Dean's worried face and hear him call out your name.

"I guess I'm on my own," you mumble to yourself and walk into the room and get flung across the room. Your body screamed in pain and you moan.

"Y/n!" Your vision blurs a bit.

Someone picks you up and you stand against the wall for support. Dean helps you walk to where Sam was.

"Y/n, what the hell?" He asks as he looks at the space before you guys.

The flaming figure appears again and you hold your breath. Dean brings his gun up but Sam stops him.

"I know who it is," he says. Right when the words leave his mouth, a beautiful blonde woman wearing a white nightdress appears. She walks up to you guys and you almost shout for Dean to shoot her but he mumbles something.

"Mom?" Your eyes widen and you take in a deep breath. What the hell.

"Dean," she says in a calm voice. She had a smile on her face. She turns to you and you feel yourself again hold your breath. "Y/n."

"How-" but she had already turned around. She places her palm on Sam's cheek and smiles. He closes his eyes.

"Sam. I'm sorry."

"For what?"

You feel your heartbreaking. This was probably the first time Sam saw his mother other than in pictures.

She doesn't answer him and turns back. She looks up and speaks loudly:

"You get out of my house. And let go of my son."

She goes up in flames and whatever was pinning Sam to the wall, left.

He looked around, confused.

What had just happened?

~~

"Okay. I need you to explain it. And everything. The whole truth." You stand with Sam at a gas pump, him standing against the car and you in front of him. Dean was taking a leak and said he would buy some food so you guys plenty of time to talk things out.

Sam raises his eyebrows slightly and looks down at you, slightly taken aback at your request.

"The visions," you clarify, face drawn. "And no lies, Sam. Almost our whole friendship has been built on lies," you continue speaking over him when he starts to protest, "no, I'm not done. And I get it. Fuck me but I get it. But you have no excuse to not tell me the truth now and I'm." You stop speaking, feeling a knot in your throat. You look at Sam, hoping he'll speak up now.

He clears his throat slightly, looking wary and speaks. "I-I thought they were dreams, Y/n. Just nightmares. I mean, with the shit I've dealt with growing up, this was pretty much run of the mill kinda stuff. It scared me shitless but I left it that. Dumb nightmares But then," his voice catches and he takes a moment to regain himself, blinking a few times. "Then, Jess died." He pauses, like the words burnt his throat coming out. "And I hate that that's what it took for me to realise that they were visions and not nightmares. That it was way more than my mind making up stuff."

Your heart breaks every time his voice cracks a bit. He turns his back to you and rests his forearms on the car roof. "I hate that I could've stopped it but I didn't. I hate that it happened to me again. When I finally thought I had a normal life and I had left it all in my past. And I get why you're angry too. I get it." He turns back suddenly with a solemn expression and shiny eyes. "But I only lied to you about my life. Nothing else was a lie between us, Y/n."

You take a breath. You don't know what to say so you just take a step forward and bury your head in his chest and hug him. His arms immediately come around you as well. Your voice is muffled but you have to get the words off your chest. "I'm mad. I'm really fucking mad. But I'm sorry I wasn't careful about who I was directing my emotions at. You're not the one to blame here and I'm sorry. It's just. Every day with you guys is like a fucking rollercoaster and I think it all just hit me." You let out a wet chuckle and step back from his embrace. "I don't know anything about... well, anything and I just felt a bit... I don't know, betrayed when I thought you could've, in some way, known that Jess died."

Sam nods softly. "I get it. Living on the edge every single day, I mean you're not gonna be the rosiest person ever."

You scrunch your face up. "Rosiest, really?"

"Shut up, I'm literally siding with you."

"That boy... He has such powerful abilities. Why he couldn't sense his own father, I have no idea."

"Mary's spirit... Do you really think she saved the boys?"

"I do-"

"And Y/n Y/l/n was with them... Why does that name sound so familiar?"

"John Winchester, I could just slap you. Why don't you go and talk to your children?"

"I want to. You have no idea how much I wanna see 'em. But I can't. Not yet. Not until I know the truth."

A/n: Hey guys!

Sad to say but I'm not quite satisfied with this chapter. I'm still trying to improve my skill of writing and describing emotions.

Also, Y/f/n- Your father's name

Y/m/n- Your mom's name.

Have a nice day!
