"Where are you now?"
"At a strip club."
"What?!" You shout into the phone. You look around and give an apologetic smile to the store's shopkeeper and other shoppers.
"I'm just kidding! We're at a bar," Dean replies and you sigh.
It was the second of May and while Dean kept Sam distracted, you were decorating your crappy motel room. It was tough to convince Sam to leave with Dean; he insisted that you joined them but you said that you had really bad cramps and wanted to rest.
When he kept on insisting because he didn't understand, you used the 'you're not a woman so you wouldn't understand' card on him. He finally understood and started blushing. Dean practically dragged him out while you tried your best to act as if to be in immense pain.
And now, you were in a small store two blocks away from the motel trying to buy a cake and pie.
"I don't get why we're doing this," Dean continues.
"What do you mean? It's Sam's birthday," you ask.
"Yeah, but taking him to a bar is enough."
"Maybe for you Dean Winchester. I, on the other hand, am doing something for him."
You hear Dean sigh on the other end and smile to yourself.
"When are you going to be done?"
"Give me another hour," you purse your lips and drop the apple pie in your basket. You pick a small chocolate cake and a few candles. As you leave, you also grab a shiny banner with the words 'Happy Birthday' written on them.
You got the items billed and left the store. The slightly hot air rushed over you as the store's doorbell chimed when you exited. You made your way to the motel room looking down occasionally at your watch.
After 15 minutes of setting up the room with the cake on the table with the candles and the banner hanging on the wall, you waited for the boys to arrive.
~~
'We're five minutes away.'
You read the text and get up from the soft bed of the motel room. You were surprised at how comfortable it was and you wanted to sleep on it so bad.
You press out all the wrinkles in your red flannel shirt that you wore over a blacktop. Seeing that everything was in its place, you make your way to the room's light switch and switch off the lights.
You and Jessica always did the whole surprise element to the party. So, you decided to continue the tradition.
The lock on the door clicked and you took a deep breath. You heard Sam giggling and Dean chuckling and you smiled to yourself.
They were so drunk.
You switch on the lights and yell 'surprise'.
The look on Sam's face was priceless!
His eyes were closed and he looks part scared and part confused. Dean was surprised for a second before he looked at Sam with a smile for his expression.
You make your way to the cake as Dean shuts the door. Sam walks cautiously towards you.
"Y/n? What's all this?" His words were slurred together and you laugh.
"Happy birthday, Sam," you say and hug him. His arms go lazily around you. You hug him tight.
"Y/n. I love you." Dean's voice cracks a bit with emotion.
You feel your heart stop when you hear him. What the hell?
You pull back from Sam's embrace and see Dean holding up his pie. You start laughing when you see the tears in his eyes and the face he was making.
"Aw, Dean, I love you too," you smile at his adorable drunk behavior and turn back to Sam.
"And I got you cake. Chocolate," you take his hand and lead him- more like drag him to the table with the cake on it. You light the candles on the cake as Sam looks on with pure amusement.
You step back and look up at him. That's when you take in his appearance. His hair was slightly disheveled and his cheeks were rosy pink. He looked cute and innocent like that. His jacket was thrown on the floor behind him and he was in his flannel shirt with jeans.
You smile at him as he looks down at you with wide eyes, like how a kid looked at his parents when he got what he wanted for Christmas. His dimples showed when he smiled slightly. You feel yourself swoon.
"Make a wish," you whisper. Sam turns to look at the cake as you turn to look behind him.
Dean was on the couch, looking at the pie on the spoon he was holding. He was examining and eyeing it and shake your head.
The Winchester boys were really drunk.
"Dean, come here!" You say and Dean looks at you in surprise.
God, maybe sending them to a bar wasn't a good idea.
Sam bends down and blows the flame of the candles and you turn your attention to him.
You start singing to him and Dean joins in a few seconds later, slurring all the words out.
But the look on Sam's face made the butterflies in your stomach go crazy. He looked so excited and cute and happy. You suddenly curse yourself for forgetting and rush to your bag. You yank your camera out, and the album flashes out. You stuffed it back in your bag and rushed back to the table, quickly capturing the moment.
You look down and frown. Sam was stabbing the cake in random spots. You sigh and put your hand over his and help him cut the cake while still singing the song. You take a piece and feed it to Sam, your breath slightly hitching when your fingers graze his lips. Dean looks down at the cake before taking a handful and trying to fit it into his mouth, which resulted in the whipped cream going all over his face and dripping down his chin.
"Dean!" You giggled and Sam throws his head back and started laughing.
Dean looked totally unfazed and continued eating more.
After your fit of laughter, you escort Dean to the bathroom and close the door. You turn back to Sam and the two of you start laughing again.
~~
You smile to yourself as the memories of the previous night came flooding back into your head. How Sam and Dean were completely drunk, how Dean stuffed his mouth with cake, how you decided to sleep on the comfy bed...
Shit.
With Sam.
You feel yourself freeze. That's when you felt the hard chest behind your back. Pressed against you. The huge hand on your arm. His hand under your hip. His soft breaths stirred the strands of your hair. The warmth that emanated from his body. Drawing you in.
Your breath hitches.
This shouldn't be happening.
What would happen when Sam wakes up and looks at you with complete disgust.
You weren't drunk. He was. You could say that you took advantage of him.
Shit. Shit. SHIT!
You will yourself to calm down. You had been in awkward situations before and you found your way out of them. You could do that now too.
You slightly twist to look around you. Dean was still in bed and was facing the other direction. It was still slightly dark outside. If you got out in time-
You were cut off by the sound of Sam groaning. You freeze as he rolls away from you. His arm still remained under your waist.
You carefully lift your waist so that your weight isn't on his arm anymore. He immediately withdraws his hand and you sigh in relief. You slowly get up and make your way to the couch, your back becoming cold. You try to go back to sleep. But the burning of your cheeks and the thumping of your heart didn't let you.
~~
"Dean, use a spoon, please," you mumble as you rub your eyes and get off the couch. You woke up just in time to see Dean taking the cake out from the fridge.
You get up and stretch, smiling when the sun's rays that shone past the windows and into the room fell on you.
Dean sits on the table and your eyes dart to Sam. His back was up and it moved up and down as he took steady breaths. You make your way to the side he was facing and sit down.
He looked so peaceful.
He was snoring softly and his mouth was slightly open. You reach for your bag that was at the foot of his bed and take out the album.
The album with most of the pictures you had taken during your years at Stanford. The album you had made for Jessica and Sam for when you were going to leave. All your pictures were there. You smile sadly as you look down at it. At least you were giving it to one of them.
You turn back to Sam and place your hand on his arm. He stirs slightly in his sleep and his eyes open slightly. You smile warmly at him.
"Hey, Sam."
He immediately sits up and looks at you in worry. He glances down at the album and around him; slightly calming down when he sees Dean.
"Y/n, what- what's wrong?" He asks warily.
You laugh at his worry.
"Nothing's wrong. I didn't give you your present last night." You push the album onto his lap. It was a simple one, it's cover made of brown leather. He looks down at it with a small smile and back at you.
"What is it?" He picks it up, huffing a bit at its weight and examines it. You smiled nervously at him.
He flips to the first page and his smile widens. He flips to the next and he flips through them all. His smile keeps on widening and he chuckles when he sees a few pictures. You chuckle too, the memories of all the crazy shit you guys did together flooding into your mind.
After flipping through half the album which took him like five minutes, he looked up at you. His eyes were shining and he had a smile on his face.
"Y/n, this is- this is amazing. I- I don't know what to say," he stutters as he looks down and up at you again.
"How about you just hug me," you say after acting like you were thinking and he pulls you into him. He squeezes you tight and his breath shadows your neck. You giggle and feel your cheeks heat up when you remember how you had woken up in the morning.
"Okay, I can't breathe," you joke and he pulls back, the smile still on his face. You feel cold despite wearing two layers of clothing after he pulls back.
"Thank you, Y/n. I seriously love it."
"Your welcome." You smile back at him.
He was so close. He seemed to be giving out this certain energy or something that just made you want to be close to him. Made you want to graze your lips against his-
"Did I finish that pie from last night?" Dean shouts out and you smile slightly and look down. You give Sam a look before getting up and getting ready for lecturing Dean for having cake for breakfast.
