Chapter 52
Sharon was about to say âCutie Homieâ, but she choked on the words before they could come ou
âAre you seriously still gonna act like you didnât follow Edwin? Whatâs the deal with all this?â Edricâs sharp comment snapped Sharon back to reality,
Edwinâs warm look turned icy quickly. When Sharon glanced back, his vibe was frosty, and his face was as cold as ice. He was totally buying inta Edricâs story.
âSorry,â Sharon said with a heavy heart, pushing aside the flood of memories. She admitted her misstep, not that she was owning up to railing Edwin, but that she had already moved on after the divorce, intending to leave everything about him behind, yet found herself here, reminiscing.
After that, she turned and prepared to walk away.
âWhat are you doing here?â Suddenly, Edwin asked from behind.
He gave Sharon a long look. Heâd mistaken her for that girl from years ago. Sharonâs voice even sounded like hers. It took four years of marriage for
him to realize that.
With her heart already hardened, Sharon didnât bother telling the truth. âJust here for some medicine,â she muttered, moving past him.
As Sharon passed Edric and Tilda, she caught Edricâs disdainful snort, oozing with contempt and a mocking certainty that she wasnât being honest.
Edric strolled up to Edwin. âDude, she already confessed to following you. Why bother asking why sheâs here! Giving her an out? No need for that,
man
Edwin remained silent, lowering his head and sinking into silence again.
Tikla asked. âEdwin, isnât this the place where you stayed when you hurt your eyes? Why suddenly want to come and see?â
âDonât you want to see it?â Edwin suddenly grabbed her hand and asked,
Tilda nodded, slightly puzzled. âYeah, I do. Iâm curious about any place youâve stayedâ
Edwin felt disappointed. This place wasnât just where he stayed. It was where they both found a new beginning
Edwinâs life took a devastating turn when he was in a car accident at seventeen. His father perished protecting him, and he lost his sight in the crash. The loss and guilt were unbearable. His motherâs blame only worsened the pain, as she abandoned him here, unable to cope with the tragedy.
Edwin once believed his life was doomed to darkness until he met the girl. Together, they found solace in each other during their darkest moments, with her providing him the strength to persevere and rebuild himself.
Her voice kept ringing in his ears, saying, âCutie Homie, even though weâre both messed up, we gotta keep on living. Im gonna treat my dad right, and you gotta keep pushing through too. Getting stronger is how we make things right.
âYou gotta cat, otherwise, youâll waste away. And if you waste away, your dad wonât come back.
âDonât think just because your eyes canât see, youâre useless. There are tons you can still do. And if push comes to shove, Iâll be your eyes from now on. Iâll show you the world through my eyes. Iâll be your big eyes, forever!
âDonât slack off, listen to me carefully.
âCutie Homie, this is really hard, I donât understand. How about you teach me?â
Back then, that girlâs nagging got him back on track. He got back to his old self, gladly helping her out with stuff she couldnât handle.
Despite seeing through her tricks, he played along, enjoying her laughter when she succeeded. She brought warmth to his life, especially with her silly nickname for him, âCutie Homie, just because he looked good.
âWhy did you stop calling me Cutie Homie?â Edwin asked, peering at Tilda
Tilda was caught off guard, hesitating. âCute Cutie Homic!â
Confused about the sudden request, Tilda glanced at Edric, hoping for some guidance
Edric walked over. âWeâre all grown up. Isnât asking people to call you like that is too far! Tildaâs not a kid anymore.â
After that, Edric grabbed Tildaâs arm, adding, âSuit yourself, weâll wait for you outside.â
Outside, Tilda finally dared to ask Edric, âWhatâs up with calling him Cutie Homie?â

Chapter 52
I donât knowâ Edric scratched his head. ânât it a nickname just between you guys?â
Tilda ran her hand through her long hair in frustration. âDidnât you think Edwinâs look at Sharon just now was kinda strange!â
âWhatâs so strange about it?â Edric shrugged. âSharon was married to Edwin for four years, and he barely noticed her. No matter how scheming she might be, she couldnât possibly cause any trouble!
Tilda remained uneasy despite Edricâs reassurance. Edwinâs unexpected presence here only added to her confusion.
Tilda abruptly said, âI gotta go!â Then she hurried off without waiting for Edricâs reply.
Edwin lingered in the garden for a bit before heading to the hospital directorâs office. There, he made a generous donation, which left the director beaming with gratitude.
Edwinâs fourâmillionâdollar donation was a gameâchanger for the smallâtown hospital. Though the director invited him for a tour, Edwin declined. showing little interest.
In the en
end, Edwin agreed to write a few words for the donor wall of the new building.
âYouâre Edwin Stanley? The head of the Ophthalmology Department walked in, noticing the signature. She glanced at Edwin a few more times. âYouâre⦠the Edwin who stayed in the hospital to treat his eyes, right!â
Edwin looked over and recognized the person. âHello, Dr. Willson
Nina Willson was once his attending physician. Even after ten years, her appearance hadnât changed much,
Nina nodded. âThe young man from back then has grown into an adult. I almost didnât recognize you.â
Back then, Edwin had been in the hospital for almost a year, and with his good looks, Nina naturally remembered him
Edwin just smiled back, looking more grownâup and chill than he used to
Nina, being talkative as usual, glanced at Edwin and remarked. âThat lively girl who was always with you, you two must be married by now. I always thought you made a perfect match.â
âNot yet.â Edwin replied, feeling slightly embarrassed
Nina looked surprised. âNo! With such a great girl, arenât you afraid someone else might snatch her away?â
Edwin just gave a faint smile, keeping his personal life private, as usual.
Nina continued, âHey, listen up. I know Sharon from way back. Sheâs solid. Donât let her slip through your fingers, alright?â
