The sound of the banging music makes my stomach turn and I feel more nervous than I should. Jacob smiles at me before his eyes shift to the living room and with them, his hand travels to hold my lower back.
As we walk through the living room I spot Hayden and my stomach starts to feel even worse until I take a better look at his expression.
He looks calm and collected for some reason but yet there's something behind his face that makes me nervous. Hayden's eyes shift from mine to the carpet beneath his feet.
"Here," Jacob says, leading me towards a beautifully decorated basement in the house. Everything is gray, the couch, the rug, and even the wall paint.
He closes the door behind us as we walk down the few steps into the basement.
I glance around the entire room but my eyes dart at the three large whiteboards hanging on the wall and the shelves full of all kinds of items, most of which I can't make out.
The lighting is dim which lets some of my nerves relax. I feel hidden this way as if there's nothing bad happening even though my stomach is telling me otherwise.
"What are these?" I ask, my eyes staring at the whiteboards again.
"Those whiteboards are something I regret deeply." Jacob gulps before walking closer to the whiteboards, I follow hesitantly.
My heart starts to race again and my nerves are pulling everything in me. I look at Jacob confused and he parts his lips to explain, but before he can say anything we hear something break outside the door.
"He must be here," Jacob says, looking past me and at the door. The music is still blasting but some voices have quieted down.
I look at the door and see the handle moving down. After a few seconds of complete silence, the door flings open, smashing itself at the wall next to Miles.
Our eyes meet and I scan everything about him, He's dressed in all black as always, his black t-shirt allows me to look at his veiny and tattooed hands, he wipes his forearm across his face before walking inside with a bottle in his hand.
"Are you drunk?" I ask, my voice low and he smiles with a head nod, letting a gold necklace hang off his neck.
"Have you told her yet?" he asks Jacob, he's clearly wasted but yet he manages not to stammer, he handles his alcohol too well which makes me wonder how often he drinks.
I've been with him for almost a month and I still feel like I don't know the real him. Jacob shakes his head and the look in his eyes is terrifying.
"She hasn't found out yet," Miles says in an almost whisper before taking another sip of the half-empty bottle of light-brown liquid and smirking at me.
"Well then, Jacob. You do the honors." Miles sits down on the gray couch by the stairs, spreading his legs apart and sliding a little in the couch as if he's getting comfortable.
"You've been waiting for this moment ever since I fucked her, so go on, tell her Jacob," Miles says and my heart sinks into my stomach.
Something that special between us said in such foul words makes me want to throw up. That was private but clearly, Miles doesn't think so, he doesn't mind throwing it out like trash.
I look at Miles whose eyes are darted right at me.
I look at the whiteboards, hoping to get some answers but all I see is 'Jacob' written on one, 'Miles' on the other, and 'Hayden' on the third.
Miles stands up and walks toward me slowly, the bottle still in his hand as Jacob watches his every move.
He gives me a smirk and for some reason, I feel my heart beating faster as if I'm meeting him for the first time when those hazel eyes were dark and heartless.
"You didn't mean anything, Madison, you were a sick game between me and Jacob," Miles says, his minty breath enlaced with alcohol as it flies straight at me.
"That necklace of yours was supposed to be on one of these shelves as a trophy for fucking you," Miles says, pointing at my necklace before waving his hands around the shelves with a proud smile.
I gulp as I take in the words, I feel like the air has been sucked out of my lungs and my heart starts to ache like I didn't know was possible.
I feel pain inside of my heart, pain that I can't get rid of no matter how much I try to breathe the little air that is left.
"You were the hundredth and the last girl, well, the last 'challenge' I should say." Miles slurrs.
My mind travels to the 'ninety-nine' sign I saw on both of their license plates and I start to feel weak. All of this time all of the signs were right in front of me and I missed every single one of them.
"Then why did youâwhy did you give my necklace back?" I ask, frantic at the pain inside of me.
"If you won't tell her, I will." Miles threatens, ignoring my question as he looks at Jacob who looks at me, his eyes glossy and his features neutral.
"What . . . what do you mean? Tell me what?" I ask Miles, looking into his eyes.
"You were a competition and I'm sorry," Jacob says, his voice breaking and his blue eyes looking at his feet.
"I'm so sorry Madison, you don't deserve this." Jacob clenches his jaw even though his eyes can't look into mine.
"Oh come on Jacob! Don't be such a little bitch, you've been waiting for this. We've both fucked ninety-nine girls and you were the hundredth and the last one . . . isn't that right Jacob?" Miles says with a smirk before taking another sip of that light-brown liquid.
I watch him as his eyes dart at the whiteboards where I read: 'water', 'makeout', 'gift', 'fuck', 'parents' and finally 'chicken.'
"That's everything we . . . we did." I stop as I watch Miles part his smirk.
"That's what it took to win you and shit I'm glad it's finally over, all that trouble wasn't worth it," Miles says and my eyes go wide for a split second. Jacob finally looks at Miles with dead eyes.
"So you . . . you won?" I ask Miles, my fingers trembling and tears pouring down my cheeks.
"Of course I won, I'm the king, aren't I? I bet you've heard that before." He says and my stomach churns.
"I hate you." I look at him, tears streaming down my face and I know I won't be able to stop them.
"Really? Because I love you." Miles says and my heart skips a beat at the words. I shake my head, letting the tears flow my cheeks as I walk right past him and through the living room.
He was lying, he lied about all of this and he's lying now, he doesn't love me, he never did. Someone as heartless as him isn't capable of love. He's still playing games with me, he'll never stop.
I rush outside but as soon as I do, I hear footsteps behind me. I glance around only to see that Miles is running after me but I can't go back to him, I'm never going back.
I run further into the darkness, letting the rain absorb me completely. I feel like a shadow among the barely visible trees in the distance, the pouring rain and the fog surrounding me.
"Madison!" I hear Miles call, his footsteps getting closer and closer but I don't care how close he is, I don't want to look back, I don't want to go back.
I come to a halt after seeing that nothing but an endless road is leading ahead and I have no way of escaping. A car screeches its way toward me, almost running over my feet.
I look at the dark and rain covered window before it slides down to reveal Hayden's face. He parts his lips as I look back at Miles.
As I watch the boy who broke me, I hear Hayden's voice, "Get in, I swear I won't hurt you." I turn around quickly and with a nod, I get in the car.
EEEKK!! There's still so much more left to write about Miles and Madison, their story is not over and it won't be over soon and because I'm pretty sure you guys don't want a 900 chapter book, I'm going to be continuing the story with a 'The Perfect Storm 2' !!! (chapter 85 and so on will continue there, it's the same story don't worry)  I'm so excited and I hope you guys want to continue this crazy journey with Miles and Madison because believe me. . . it's not over, this is only the beginning.
I also wanted to let you guys know that I'm selling Madison's necklace! I'm not a brand or business or anything like that so keep in mind it might take longer than brands to deliver, but I've wanted to do this forever ð and I've finally figured it all out.
Here's a picture of the necklace if you guys want to order one just send me a message :) It's $22 (and free shipping) a piece and it's very tough when it comes to water so you guys don't have to worry about rust. This is the exact necklace I had in mind (without the extra added silver heart, but I thought that was too cute to pass on) and I wanted to give you guys the opportunity to get one!
