Chapter 22~ Utter embarrassment

I won't lie, my body was filled with complete anxiety the entire time. As we arrived at the restaurant I couldn't help but admire how beautiful the scenery was inside, many shades of blood red and black filled the inside. The restaurant reminded me of some kind of vampire bar or something, which I thought was cool as fuck.

Quicker than expected, we had one of the waiters greet us then lead the way to our table reservation. I watched as Ryan pulled out one of the chairs for Jaide like a gentleman, causing me to internally awe. As I went to sit myself down River quickly followed his brothers league and pull my chair out for me. Surprised from the unexpected action I instinctively thanked him and happily took my seat. Jaide and I both reached over to our little folded out sheet menus and briefly discussed amongst ourselves with our dates what we were planning on ordering for the night.

After analyzing all of the meals they had to offer I decided to just go with a small serve of their chicken carbonara since I wasn't feeling that hungry. Once we all decided on our meals for the night we let one of the waiters know and just talked amongst ourselves until our food was served.

"I am so in love with that dress Jaide, where did you get it?" I ask in a genuine tone as I admired the well fitted black dress on her.

"I actually ordered it online, a website called Shein they have some amazing clothes on there" she answered, letting out a little giggle afterwards.

River's POV:

I silently admired y/n as her and Jaide continued on with their conversation, I could see my brother doing the exact same with his girlfriend in the corner of my eye. Ryan casually placed his arm around Jaide's shoulder then turned to face me. I looked at him, expecting him to say something to me. Instead he intentionally motioned his eyes in the direction of y/n continuously, signaling for me to follow his league. My brother's forwarded suggestion immediately caused me to feel uneasy, I shot him a questioning look, double checking if he was being serious or not. My twins expression did not change one bit, meaning that he was being dead serious. I very slightly shook my head no at him, now starting to feel overwhelmed with the very thought of copying my brothers actions. This didn't seem to change his mind, he continued giving me the same encouraging look. I painfully decided to accept my fate and let out a low sigh before carefully placing my arm around y/n's shoulder.

"Ryan you better know what your doing..." I sternly thought to myself, trying to seem as casual as possible infront of y/n.

Y/n's POV:

While mid conversation with Jaide, I suddenly felt River's warm hand being placed on my shoulder, causing me to pause for a split second as I was talking. Jaide saw the reason why I had paused, but didn't comment on it, instead she just gave a light hearted smirk and continued on with the conversation. Throughout the rest of mine and Jaide's chats I couldn't seem to fully focus on the conversation, River's random action had completely stunned me out. After some time of overthinking it I came to to conclusion that he meant it in a friendly manner, not a romantic one.

Shortly after, our waiter arrived to our table and formally served us our meals for the night. Instinctively, we all thanked the waiter in unison and happily began eating.

We all openly chatted amongst one another as we ate the most beautiful food we had ever tasted. Not only that, but we were all drinking, well all except Ryan since he agreed on driving us all back home after dinner.

We were soaking in the lovely night with happy chattering and red wine. Thank God wine doesn't mess me up as bad as other alcohols, although I don't think I can quite say the same thing for River. He was being oddly clingy with me throughout our entire time at the restaurant. I just blamed River's abnormal behavior on the wine and let it be, I knew he would probably apologize about all of it the next morning.

"So where are you planning on filming next love?" Jaide changed the subject as she turned to face Ryan.

"I'm glad you asked m'lady" he commented, causing Jaide to chuckle at him.

"we're actually gonna to be doing an investigation with Josh and Seth, we're going to film our own footage while they film their own" Ryan began informing his girlfriend about his upcoming plans.

"We're going to the Waverly hills sanatorium" River added, answering Jaide's question. The moment River exposed where our next location was going to be I instantly choked on my wine, completely shocked from the answer.

"You never told me where we were going to be filming next!" I exclaimed looking at Ryan. I heard Jaide and Riv both chuckle at my surprised reaction as I eagerly waited for Ryan to explain himself.

"Yeah we were kinda keeping it a secret from you, we wanted to see your pure reaction once we got to the location but SOMEONE blew that" he explained and gave his twin a betrayed look.

"Sorry bro, forgot about that part..." River innocently apologized whilst slowly shrugging. Jaide and I both rolled our eyes at the two boys and giggled amongst each other.

Once we had all finished our meals Ryan ensured to pay for Jaide and himself while River paid for him and I.

I had no idea that the twins planned on paying for us also, so I felt bad having Riv pay for my meal. Maybe I should just pay him back when we get back home. We all got out of our seats one by one and gradually made our way out of the beautifully heated restaurant to get to the car. Ryan grabbed the keys from his brother and hopped into the driver's seat. River gladly sat in the back with me, I didn't mind sitting in the back besides I wanted Jaide to be able to sit with her man.

"Looks like you get passage princess privileges darling" Ryan sarcastically said to Jaide as she sat in the seat beside him. I playfully rolled my eyes at Ryan's cringey comment and intentionally disassociated from their chattering completely. I laid my head on the car's windowsill and kept my eyes on the outside scenery. A few minutes passed and I chose to rest my eyes until we got back home. As shut my eyes I felt River rest his head on my shoulder, causing me to instantly open my eyes from the unexpected movement. I slowly turned my head and looked down at him.

"Yep, wine definitely makes him more clingy" I internally analyzed and smiled down at him. River closed his eyes and rested on me for the rest of the ride back, and I did the very same.

- Arriving home -

"Come on love birds we're home now..." I felt myself slowly waking back up to what sounded like Ryan's voice. I very sluggishly tried to move my body to help wake myself up.

"Get up!" Ryan quietly shouted. Just seconds after I heard what sounded like a slap, causing me to jolt up and open my eyes.

"Ow dude... What was that for?" River painfully muttered as he progressivly tried waking back up.

"We're home" Ryan answered as he crawled back out of the backseat to unlock the front door. I sleepily got myself out of the car, with the frosty air waking me even more. As we all made our way into the house the warmth from inside welcomed us all in.

"Ah thank God I can finally take these heels off now!" I let out a huge sigh of relief and took my shoes off while running to my room to put them away, Jaide and the twins laughed as I ran to my door. I decided to keep my shoes off and keep the dress on until I went to bed. I joined back up with the others in the living room and we all agreed on watching a horror movie together for the last part of the night. The twins wanted Jaide and I to choose the movie for the night, which was kind enough of them but an overwhelming position to be put in. After some time of hard debating Jaide and I finally agreed upon a movie. The first Conjuring film.

"Ooo the Conjuring hey? You know what would be so gnarly... If we filmed at the real Conjuring house!" Ryan stated with an expression of excitement in his face.

"Dude that would be the sickest location we ever go to!" River claimed, sounding just as excited as his twin brother.

"Fuck that, I don't wanna see that creepy ass nun lady!" I replied with a hint of fear in my voice and let the movie begin.

"Don't worry she isn't from the actual Conjuring house, she's based in a different location" Ryan explained, trying to help ease my concern.

"Alright then we good" I chuckled then ended the conversation by putting my attention into the TV screen Infront of us that was now playing the movie.

Throughout the rest of the night the others remained really quiet. I had the sense that a wave of sleepiness had hit them already. I slightly turned my head to peak over at what Jaide and Ryan were doing. Jaide was relaxing with her head and hand on Ryan's chest, while Ryan seemed to be keeping his full focus on the film, I'm guessing to help keep him awake. With that, I decided to slightly look next to me at River to see how he was holding up during this film. When I looked at him I could see that he was already one step ahead of me and already looking at me. I did not expect it so I won't lie when I say it gave me an unexpected startle. In reaction to that I just gave him a small friendly smile, which cute enough made Riv smile right back at me.

"What?" He quietly chuckled, still keeping all eye contact with me.

"Just seeing how your holding up there" I replied back, sounding as quiet as he was. River quietly scoffed.

"I'm great" he gave a kind smile as he answered. I found myself still staring into his eyes, but good thing I don't think he noticed because after talking with me I noticed him looking over in his brothers direction.

River's POV:

I could feel my brother's eyes piercing at me intently, so I decided to look over at him and see what his deal was. Ryan gave me a mischievous smirk which I thought was kind of odd. In confusion I narrowed my eyebrows at him and waited for any kind of response.

Yet again, my brother starts pacing his eyes between y/n and I, signaling for me to copy what he's doing with Jaide and put me arm around y/n again. I gave him the same facial expression that I did at the restaurant. As half expected he returned the exact same look he gave me while at in the restaurant. He was not going to budge. I shot my twin an annoyed yet defeated look then carefully placed my arm around y/n while she was now paying attention to the movie. As I did that she started to make herself more comfortable on the couch and laid her head on my chest, while still keeping her eyes on the TV. I looked back over to my brother who was now giving me a proud smile. I dismissively rolled my eyes at him and went back to the movie.

Once the film had finally ended I then realized just how tired I really was. My eyes were feeling super heavy and I hadn't realized that I was actually laying my head above y/n's. Fuck I must of unconsciously done it while I was watching the movie. I slowly lifted myself back into my original position, now feeling kinda bad for leaning myself on y/n.

Y/n's POV:

As the movie credits started to appear on the TV screen I felt River shift back to the original position he was in earlier. A cold shiver shot down my spine as he parted from me, making me realize just how cold I really was. As I hastily rubbed both my hands over my chilled arms I turned to look at Jaide and Ryan who were almost falling asleep on the couch. I adored their relationship very much and was pleased with how happy Jaide made him. I love Ryan like a brother, always have and always will.

"Well that was a creepy ass movie..." Jaide commented, breaking the silence. The twins and I giggled at Jaide's confession. We decided to chill in the living room for a while longer and just talk.

As the night got later I got colder. I decided to depart from the others to get changed into some warmer clothes. I sat at the end of my bed, hardly debating between two outfits.

Ryan's POV:

"Jee y/n wasn't wrong, it is getting pretty cold" I thought to myself as I subconsciously scrolled through my Instagram.

"Hey babe, I hate to be a pain but I should probably get home and feed Goku" (Jaide's bearded dragon). I heard my girlfriend say beside me, causing me get off of my phone and face her.

"Honey you are never a pain, let's get you home" I told her and gave her a peck on the lips before getting up and grabbing the car key's the kitchen bench. As I walked back into the living room I ensured to tell my brother that I was dropping Jaide off home and to let y/n know once she comes back out from her room. Before closing the front door behind me I gave River a sneaky wink, as a way of teasing him about his attraction towards our best friend.

River's POV:

I rolled my eyes at my brother's cockiness. God for someone who's trying to help me out with y/n, he sure is overconfident about his ideas. As I lifted myself off of the living room couch I remembered that I was supposed to ask my brother for a spare USB for editing purposes. I let out a heavy sigh and got annoyed at myself for forgetting. Ryan was probably still out the front but I honestly couldn't be fucked going out in the cold to check. Instead I quickly grabbed my phone out of my pants pocket and flicked him a message.

Relieved by my brother's quick response I gradually made my way into his room to retrieve a spare USB.

Y/n's POV:

After deciding on the second outfit over the first one I quickly put it on and placed the other outfit back in my wardrobe. I caught a glimpse of myself in my full length mirror and stopped for a moment to look at myself. A moment of admiration quickly turned into overthinking. But not about me, it was about River.

"I'm really falling in love with my best friend huh..."

"Is this who I am now? Y/n the ghost hunting YouTuber who fell in love with her best friend who lives with her..."

"I'm not sure just how long I can hide these feelings for... Maybe I should talk to Ryan, he'll understand he always understands" All of these thoughts raced in my mind. And as anxious as I felt about it, I truly debated talking to Ryan about this. I shook the thoughts away and attempted to gain enough courage to speak to Ryan about my issue. After slightly calming my nerves I let out a deep sigh to help cleanse and relax my mind.

With that I made my way out of the room and back into the living room to where the others were last. But as I entered the large opened area nobody was there anymore. Instant confusion hit me like a brick. I tried to think of where everyone could possibly be.

"Maybe they all decided to chill in their rooms?" My brain thought. With that idea I didn't hesitate to make my way to Ryan's room and find out if my thought was correct. As I approached Ryan's room I noticed that his door was completely opened, which confused the hell out of me since he always leaves his door closed. Cautious, I continued to approach the room even more. I could visibly see that his light was on, but oddly enough I couldn't hear any sort of speaking coming from there whatsoever. Once I got to Ryan's door frame I let out one more sigh, this time a silent one. Then I let myself in.

"Ryan are you busy, I need to talk to you about Riv-er..." I instantly paused and froze in my tracks as I looked up and saw a startled River looking right back at me.

"SHIT!" my mind raced faster than ever, curse words repeating over and over again in my brain. I felt so embarrassed, yet busted.

Deafening silence filled the room for a couple seconds before River decided to break the silence first.

"What about me?" He slightly tilted his head in utter confusion, I could see the curiosity filled in his beautiful blue eyes.

"What are you doing in your brother's room?" I quickly asked, attempting to change the awkward subject.

"Grabbing a spare USB... Now, what about me?" He answered as quick as I asked. I felt nothing but complete awkwardness fill my body, worse than the day after mine and Riv's argument. I was so overwhelmed and embarrassed.

"Nothing, doesn't matter" I quickly stuttered then rushed myself the hell out of there. The second I got back to my room I shut my door and sat on the end of my bed, covering my face in my hands.

"Fuck that was so awkward, now he's going to be wondering what my deal was for the rest of the night... Great job y/n" I sarcastically mumbled under my breath. I made my way under my covers and just laid there for what felt like hours, overthinking everything.

"Note to self, ensure Ryan is actually home and if I'm not so sure just fucking message him next time!"

"God I feel like such a idiot!" I internally scolded myself. After a while of hard overthinking I felt myself starting to get deeply tired. After I realized just how exhausted I was feeling it did not take long for me fall into a deep sleep.
