I was in the middle of a huge debate, do I leave River alone and wait until we get home, or do I pull him aside and talk to him right now.
God I must look like a fucking idiot just standing here not even being in the conversation that's being held in front of me right now.
"Fuck it, just let him be until we get home" I finally decided and went to walk away from a now distracted River.
"Y/n come dance!" Wyatt cheerfully hopped over to me, dancing along to the music Josh had put on for the get together. I awkwardly smiled at him, embarrassed about the thought of dancing in front of so many people. Well thank fuck I've been drinking, cause alcohol helps ease my social anxiety. I chose to push away any embarrassment I was feeling about Wyatt's offer and happily took his hand. We began dancing like drunk teenage girls to the song 'Hollaback Girl' I can't lie Wyatt was really helping ease my overthinking about River. I just can't seem to understand River's shift in energy tonight. Maybe I really am just overthinking it and it's nothing. I really need to stop. I quicky shook my head and drew my attention back to Wyatt's dancing. We laughed together as he continued to help me dance along to the song, I could already see Ryan recording us in the corner of my eye but I didn't care.
"Wooo go y/n!" Seth cheered out to me while still seated with the boys. I took a quick glimpse over Wyatt's shoulder and looked at Seth, giving him a appreciative smile then going back to dancing. I could only assume that Seth's loud encoring was the cause of everyone's attention to now be drawn on Wyatt and I. I embraced all of the entertained laughter that was now being created by mine and Wyatt's dancing. As Wyatt gently grabbed both of my hands and started drunkenly going around in circles with me I could see River attentively watching me from a far each time he came into my view while spinning. I felt my gut and heart drop at the same time as I saw him, I had no idea why. Maybe it was just because I was afraid that he might of been mad at me for some reason, due to his drastic change in mood.
Y/n for god sakes why are you worrying about this so much? Once again I shook the unwanted feelings away a tried to keep my focus on the dancing, and not River.
Once the song had finished Wyatt drunkenly thanked me for joining him while giving me a surprisingly tight hug.
"No problem Wyatt, now please let go before you squeeze me to death" I sarcastically joke breathlessly.
"Oh shit sorry" he immediately let go of me and checked if I was alright. Good old Wyatt, always looking out for us. I truly admired him for that.
"It's fine I'm fine" I giggled while trying to reassure him of his unintentional actions.
"I think... I need to go to bed" Wyatt started slurring his words, he was very clearly passed his limit.
"I think that's a good idea Wy, do you want me to let Ryan know?" I slightly tilted my heard in curiosity waiting to see what Wyatt really wanted to do. He sluggishly nodded his head yes in response, I could tell he was exhausted as all hell so I didn't hesitate to make my way over to Ryan. As I urgently made my way over to Ryan who was sitting with the rest of the guy's he looked up at me as I was approaching him like he could sense me coming or something.
"What's up y/n?" He looked up at me with a intoxicated smile as I stood Infront of him.
"I don't mean to be a party pooper or anything but I think we should go soon, Wyatt's clearly not looking too good" I shyly explained as I point in the direction where Wyatt was standing.
"Or you know I could just call a Uber for him and I and you guys can stay a little longer, I don't want to ruin your one night off" I quickly offered, afraid of getting him annoyed in any way. I watched as his smile slowly turned into a serious look.
"Don't worry about that y/n, let's get Wyatt home" Ryan ordered and got out of his seat to grab Wyatt. I watched in relief as he put his arm around Wyatt's shoulder and helped him walk more steady towards us.
"Do you want me to call the Uber Ryan?" I asked while collecting my jacket from off of my seat.
"Take care of Wyatt I'll make the call" Ryan gently passed a drunken Wyatt over to me and stepped inside to call for a Uber to come and pick us all up. I wrapped my arms around Wyatt and slowly sat him down on one of Josh's camp chairs. I automatically grab one of the spare bottles of water from Josh's iced esky cooler and passed it to Wyatt, which he gratefully accepted.
Anxiously I sat myself down in the seat next to River and internally prayed for Ryan to hurry up.
Why do I self sabotage myself all the fucking time? I'm just being stupid, River probably isn't even upset at all, it's all in my fucking head. God just stop all of this overthinking, Wyatt's safety is what's important right now. I'll deal with River after. I weakly dropped my head into my hands and waited.
"Uber will be here in ten, make sure you all grab your stuff before we leave" Ryan called out while sliding Josh's backdoor closed and coming up to us.
"Thank you guy's for coming out tonight, make sure to keep this one safe" Josh said while petting Wyatt on the shoulder.
"Of course dude, thank you again for inviting us out, and it was honor to finally meet you boys" Ryan stated, giving both Sam and Colby a kind handshake. We all shared our goodbyes with handshakes and friendly hugs. And even Colby gave me his Instagram to text him about future investigations, I assumed he already gave the boys his Instagram unless they already had it so I didn't overthink it, which I know is surprising for me considering I seem to overthink every little thing now.
"Alright our ride is here, see you guys, enjoy the rest of your night!" Ryan said as he helped Wyatt up and lead him to the front. Josh kindly escorted us all out and said his final goodbyes to us all as we hopped into the heated Uber. As expected our Uber driver carried out a conversation with us all, well mainly Ryan. Wyatt was resting on Rivers shoulder and I was zoning out staring out the darkened window. I briefly listened to the conversation being held between Ryan and our driver while daydreaming about all of our past investigations together. All of the unexplainable phenomenas we experienced, all of the impossible to debunk activity we caught and even saw with our own eyes. And of course all of our bone chilling spiritual attacks we've ever had. God how the hell did a bunch of punk kids like us make it this far in life?
I often ask myself this question. And I know non of this would be possible for us to do without the beautiful community the boys have created doing YouTube. Yes I know I'm a member of our channel also, but I always felt like it was the boys who made it this far. The boys deserve every little bit of support that we receive from our fans for all of the hard work they put in to post these videos we make. Yes I do help out a lot with the editing also, and coming up with designs for our merchandise. But I've always been the type of person to never accept all of the credibility. Even when reading the sweet messages our fans send us I can never seem to fully accept all of the compliments. I guess I've always been like that, due to how I grew up.
A/n:
(Do y'all want me to talk more about y/n's past in future chapters?)
The sudden stop in movement from the car immediately signaled to me that we had finally arrived to our destination. Home. Thank God. Just as I turned to wake Wyatt up River did the same. We accidentally touched each other's hand as we went to tap Wyatt on the shoulder. Instinctively, I pulled my hand away and mumbled a quick apology then got out of the car, making sure to thank the Uber driver before doing so. Ryan exited the vehicle the same time as me after paying the driver for his service. River progressively made his way out of the car, supporting a sleepy Wyatt the whole way to the house with his arm still around Wyatt's body. Ryan did the honours of unlocking the front door and waving his arm in the gesture to get in. I of course made sure Wyatt and Riv were the first to enter the house because I wanted to do anything in my power to make sure Wyatt was okay. Satisfied, I followed behind the two and told River to take him into his room (Wyatt's room). As the two slowly made their way to Wyatt's bedroom I hastily rushed to the kitchen and grabbed a glass of cold water for him.
"Thank you for coming to me when you did" Ryan's voice interrupted my internal thinking. I looked up and saw him on the other side of the kitchen bench infront of me. He had a very genuine expression on his face.
"Of course Ryan... Wyatt is always there looking out for us, I think it's only fair I do the same back" I gave him a genuine smile then carefully made my way to Wyatt's bedroom trying not to spill any water. I could hear Ryan's footsteps following right behind and smiled to myself thinking about how sweet it is of him to also come and check up on Wyatt.
"Wyatt... Have some water" I gently say as I carefully approach his sleepy self laying down.
"Thank you y/n" he replied in a low tone and slowly took the cup from my hands. I gave him a proud smile as I watched him take small sips.
"Thank you guy's for taking care of him... Go and do what you gotta, I've got it from here" Ryan took charge like usual and signaled that Riv and I could leave now. I didn't argue against it. I bent down to give Wyatt a supportive hug and said my goodnights to him and Ryan then left.
"Love you bro... Hang in there" I heard River softly say to Wyatt as I made my way out. River very shortly exited the room and went to the kitchen.
"Now's the time, speak to him now" my brain scolded at me.
"Now's the best time, just get it over and done with" my brain continued. I rapidly looked down at my feet then took a quiet deep breath in to try and steady my anxiety.
"Here goes nothing... I guess" I whispered to myself, making sure no one heard. I cautiously walked towards our kitchen where River was and stopped at the bench.
"River can I speak to you for a moment" I finally let out, trying to sound as genuine as possible. Instantly I regretted even asking, I should of just left it. Fuck sakes.
"Uhh yeah sure..." he stuttered, very visibly looking confused.
"Are you okay? I noticed a rapid change in your mood at the end of the night..." I very carefully tried choosing the right words to use. River's eyes quickly departed from mine once I asked this.
"Yeah I'm good, I don't know what your talking about" he very quickly tried answering to end the conversation, but I wasn't having it. I knew River was lying to me, and after what just happened with Wyatt I was not going to deal with anymore drama tonight.
"River I know your lying to me, your refusing to even look at me right now" I called him out on his behavior, hoping for a honest response. It took a moment for River to regain eye contact with me.
"I don't know why my mood changed it just did... It's stupid okay" he slightly raised his voice in frustration and immediately broke eye contact with me once again.
I felt a part of my heart shatter as he raised his voice at me. I was truly taken aback. The boys knew the reason behind why I hate raised voices, it's a very dark and private part of my past I don't like to talk about to anyone. And the fact that River just did, really hurt me. At this point I didn't know how the fuck to react. I was now becoming overwhelmed with all kinds negative emotions, and I couldn't handle it.
"Okay, I'm just trying to fucking look out for you Riv..." My voice very clearly broke down into complete sadness, I felt pain emerging from my throat as I did everything in my power to hold back tears. I could tell that my change in voice really got to Riv and he looked back into my eyes, nothing but guilt written all over his face. I hated seeing him like this, I hated feeling like this. And most of all... I hated that I made him like this.
"I know, I'm sorry y/n I'm just trying to figure shit out..." He let out a deep sigh and still tried to keep eye contact with me. What the fuck does he mean he's trying to figure shit out. Figure what out?. I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I just wanted to end this conversation now.
"It's fine Riv... I'm just gonna go to bed" I told him, my voice even more saddened. I quicky turned around and rushed to my room once I felt tears escape my eyes.
"Y/n..." I heard River weakly call out as I was making my way to my room. I debated for a second whether or not to turn back and hear what he had to say, but I really didn't want him to see me like this. As much as it hurt me to ignore him, I continued on walking.
"Y/n you good?" Ryan asked as he walked out of Wyatt's room. I kept my head down so no one could see my now saturated face and hummed yes in response to Ryan before entering and closing my door behind me.
Ryan's POV:
"What the hell happened" I asked my brother in a impatient tone. As if I needed even more drama right now. I crossed both my arms Infront of my chest and impatiently waited for him to answer me.
"Nothing... she tried asking if I was alright and I reacted like a fucking asshole" he defeatedly leaned his head into our cupboard door and let out a low sigh.
"Riv let's talk about this somewhere else" I ordered and lead the way into our editing room, turning the light on and closing the door behind him as he entered the room. After my brother made his way into his usual seat I too sat myself down at my work desk and faced my twin.
"What's going on Riv?" I sincerely asked, locking my eyes onto his. A big part of me could only guess what was making my brother act up like this so badly. But I didn't want to assume thing's, this could be something genuinely serious.
River went quiet for quite a while, like he was seriously debating on telling me the truth or not. This was starting to make me anxious. River leaned forward in his seat and let out another deep sigh. He then looked up at me and finally spilt the beans.
"I think I'm falling in love with y/n..."
