The night had just begun and we were already a few drinks in. My gut was already telling me that one of us was going to end up doing something tonight that we'd end up regretting the next day, and god I hoped it wasn't going to be me. I am very aware on just how reckless I can get when drunk, and I am not trying to make it the boys job to with my bullshit, especially on our one night off of editing. The guys and I all sat around the beautiful warm fire in Josh's camp chairs peacefully chatting the night away.
"Thanks again for inviting us over dude" River thanked Josh again before quickly downing yet another can of alcohol, making it his third can already. The twins have always drank faster than me, but I have never had any interest in even trying to out drink them, those boys are absolute fucking savages, even Wyatt's been gaining their drinking trait.
"Yeah man we really appreciate it... I think I speak for everyone when I say we really needed this" Ryan added with a appreciative smile on his face. Wyatt and I nodded in unison to the twins appreciation while taking a sip from our alcoholic beverages.
"Of course guy's, the nights are never dull with you's here" Josh replied with a flattered smirk.
"Are we really the only ones you asked to come over tonight Josh?" I chimed in while crossing both my legs over to get more comfortable in my seat.
"Actually no, Seth should be here shortly he's just finishing up on some editing" Josh explained in his usual kind tone. Instinctively I gave him a surprised expression in reply to his answer. Then again to be fair I don't even know why I'm so surprised about that at this point, Seth and Josh are together almost twenty four seven nowadays filming for Josh's beyond the dark series on YouTube.
"I did also invite some other good friends of mine but I don't think they've gotten back to me yet..." Josh added now causing me to feel genuinely curious. I watched Josh, who was sitting in front of me on the other side of the fire. He grabbed his phone out from his blue jeans pocket, I'm guessing to see if these friends of his had replied to his invitation yet or not. Josh's face expression changed to a surprised look as he turn his phone on.
"Oh they did reply back, looks like they're on their way now!" He exclaimed looking back up at us. My curiosity was certainly now at it's peak not knowing who exactly he was talking about. It was like Ryan could read my mind because after Josh's confirmation he asked who exactly these friends of his were.
"Oh, you know Sam and Colby?" Josh turned to Ryan with a excited smile. I felt my mouth instantly drop open in shock. Who the hell doesn't know Sam and Colby!? They're the most popular paranormal investigators on YouTube! Sometimes I forget just how popular Josh also is on YouTube compared to the guys and I.
"Oh shit really!?" River blurted out in shock, causing some of his drink to spill in his hand. Josh gained a proud smile, seeing mine and Rivs surprised faces.
"Looks like we finally get to meet the one and only Sam and Colby guys!" Ryan slowly panned back to all of us. I looked over at Wyatt who was sat between both twins with the same shocked expression on his face. I could very clearly see that he was feeling the exact same way as I was right now. Just the thought of meeting Sam and Colby appeared so unreal to me, I truly felt honoured to have the opportunity to meet these amazing boys in person. I could see River in the corner of my eye trying to shake the spilt alcohol off of his hand.
"Riv..." I sighed and gave him a look as if to say "your so clumsy". The sound of my voice instantly made him turn to me. I could see the pure innocence in his icy blue eyes, even if River was one of the most sinful people I have ever met. He definitely has his moments of pure innocence.
"Let me help you out there" I offered as I rose up from my seat and hastily jogged my way back inside to grab some paper towels off of Josh's kitchen bench.
Ryan's POV:
As I watched y/n vulnerably tend to my brothers aid I slowly leaned in towards Josh and whispered a cheeky comment about it in his ear.
"See what I'm saying" I quietly chuckle, referring back to when I first told him about my suspicions between y/n and my brother.
"Yeah dude, there's definitely something there..." He whispered back, ensuring that the others couldn't hear our little banter.
Y/n POV:
Once I was successful in finding the paper towels I made my way back outside and rushed over to River, handing him some towels. River thanked me then put his can down next to his feet to dry his hand. As I held the rest of the paper towels in my hand and watched Riv fix himself back up I noticed Ryan and Josh having a little giggle to themselves in the back.
"What's going on over here in the little gossip club?" I slightly tilted my head questioning what was so funny. My humourous comment caused Josh to laugh even more, Ryan on the other hand quickly leaned back in his seat and kept quiet. I took a mental note of his strange actions and waited for Josh to answer me instead.
"Nothing ma'am!" Josh sped up his words and immediately regained his posture again. I took note of the boys sudden shift in behavior but chose to just dismiss it and turn my attention back to River. I went to grab the now wet paper towel from River's hand once he had finished cleaning up but he quickly pulled away from me and refused my gesture.
"Don't worry y/n I'll take care of it" he told and grab the rest of the paper towels from my hand. Before I could even respond he was already on his way inside. I lazily sat back down in my seat and joined Ryan and Josh's conversation until Seth and the others arrived.
"Yo yo yo!" We all turned, facing the backdoor where the speaking was coming from and saw Seth step outside and greet us. All the guys jumped up and greeted Seth while I stayed remaining in my seat waiting for the boys to their moment with him so I could welcome him. Seth slowly approached me and said his hellos, I excitedly extended my arms out towards him in the gesture of wanting a hug. Seth happily took the offer and leaned down to hug me while I was still seated.
"Are Sam and Colby still coming tonight?" Seth asked Josh while regaining his posture back from the hug. Just as Josh was about to reply I heard a oddly familiar voice speak loudly from behind.
"Did somebody say Sam and Colby!?" Once again we all rapidly turned out attentions to the backdoor and saw a golden blonde haired boy enter the yard. I can't believe we are actually here with the real Sam and Colby tonight. My mind couldn't stop racing from disbelief once I physically saw with my own eyes that Sam Golbach was indeed standing right Infront of me. Seconds later a taller dark haired boy with more sharper facial features entered the yard, staying right by Sam's side.
"Yoo I'm so glad you guy's could make it!" Josh rushed over to finally greet the duo, with Seth following right behind him. Wyatt, the twins, and I all stayed in our seats this time since we clearly did not know Sam and Colby as well as Seth and Josh did. Josh formally introduced the boys to us and offered the two a seat by the fire. Which they happily accepted. I felt my heart stop for a moment once Colby decided to sit next too me, with Sam sitting on the other side of him between Josh and Colby.
"What the hell is life right now?" Is all my thoughts were at this point. All of this still felt so unreal to me, like I didn't deserve to even be within their presence. I know that sounds stupid.
We all hit it off very well and definitely had no troubles with maintaining conversation. I got to find out some things about Sam and Colby that they'd never talk about on the internet. They did talk alot about Colby's cancer, which just broke my heart the more and more they went into detail about Colby's journey in life so far with having testicular cancer. We all shared our sympathies for Colby and River took charge in politely changing the sensitive topic by giving cheers in respects for Colby, then drinking some more.
A few more drinks into the night and I was certainly starting to feel more bubbly, which meant I was definitely close to my drinking limit. While Ryan was in deep conversation with Sam and Colby I decided to start playing footsie's with River to help ease my boredom. I turned to face him which he immediately looked back at me once he saw me turn my head towards him. I gave him a mischievous smile, signaling that I was about to annoy him. River gave me acknowledging smile like he already knew what I was about to do. I took his smile as a yes and shifted my chair closer to him. River too began moving his seat to fully face me. I stopped for a moment and took notice of how beautiful he was looking tonight with all the different mixtures of lighting being caused from both the fire and moonlight. I looked down at River's tatted neck and arms and admired how the lighting made them glow on him. I've always been a total simp for tatted guy's and this view of River tonight was just feeding my admiration. River slowly tilted his head in a confused manner which made me snap out of it and go back to what I was originally going to do. Cruelly, I began lightly kicking Rivers shoes, letting out little mischievous giggles each time I kicked him. River quickly retaliated back, and our little footsie's war began.
Our kicks became more and more rougher the more competitive we got. River and I shared a good entertained laugh together while brutally attacking each other's legs, causing everyone to watch us in awe. I ignored the attention Riv and I caused and tried trapping his feet in my legs.
"No no no I don't think so!" River chuckled in a competitive tone as he quickly grabbed me by my arms and pulled me into his lap. My evil giggles immediately shut up due to this unexpected action. I felt my cheeks begin to heat up as I now became overwhelmed.
"Oooo" multiple people cooed, causing me to anxiously chuckle at the judgement that was being put on me right now.
"I think I won" River smugly whispered in my ear, causing me to jump a little, not expecting him to do that.
"Yeah yeah you won..." I rolled my eyes at his cockiness and carefully hopped off of his lap. River slowly let go of me, grazing his hand along my hand as I got out of his grip. I had no idea if that was on purpose or not so I chose to ignore it and go back to my seat. Shortly Wyatt rose up from his seat and groggily walked over to the side of the fence. I immediately knew that Wyatt was going to be sick from all the heavy drinking we were doing. I picked up my phone and scrolled through my TikTok, trying to tune out the horrid sound of Wyatt's sickness in the background. Not long after Seth was now in the same position as Wyatt.
"Oh for fuck sakes!" I thought to myself and went back to tuning out one of my least favorite sounds ever. Ryan and Josh both recorded the boys poor state and posted it on their Instagram stories, I felt bad for them. Once Seth and Wyatt joined us again around the fire I finally got off the phone and tried to stay involved with the group.
"How is your night going?" I heard Colby turn in my direction and ask. This caught me off guard, honestly I didn't expect them to even speak with me tonight. I pushed aside my surprised feeling and kindly answered Colby's question.
"It's lovely, I'm greatful for Josh inviting us out tonight, we really needed a break away from editing" I stated, keeping a kind smile on my face as we spoke.
"Yeah absolutely, we all need a break from editing sometimes" he agreed and kept the conversation rolling. Jeez what is so interesting about me for him to want to keep talking to me? I asked myself as he kept speaking.
"It's so lovely to finally meet you two" I stated while looking at both Sam and Colby.
"Yeah, you too dude!" Sam gave me a thankful smiled then went back to chatting away with Ryan and Josh. Colby also gave me a kind hearted smile then ended our conversation by turning his attention back to Sam.
- lil time skip -
We were now all officially drunk and just being absolute fools at this point. Drunken laughter and upbeat music filled the night. I recorded Wyatt doing a funny dance and posted it on my Instagram story.
"Hey y/n can I speak with you for a moment" Colby politely approached me. To be completely honest I was scared that I might have said or done something wrong but that was just my stupid overthinking playing up.
"Yeah of course, what's up?" I tried to ask without sounding like I was in fear. Colby gently pulled me to the side and began saying how he liked my vibe and thought that It'd be a great idea to have me come along with Sam and him on one of their investigations. I won't lie I felt so honored being told that from the man himself, but at the same time I thought it was quite strange he was telling me this and not the twins or Wyatt. Like, why me?. I noticed River return back from the bathroom and join us all again. But this time it seemed like his energy had shifted, which was really strange for him. River never let's his mood get in the way of drinking out with friends, so what the hell was going on with him?
River's POV:
As I approached Josh's sliding backdoor I could see Colby speaking with y/n alone away from the group. I thought this was kind of sus. And as immature as it seemed of me I decided to keep quiet and listen in on their conversation from the inside of the house.
Confusing negative feelings began to arise inside of me as I heard him offer her to join Sam and him in their next investigation. I had no idea why I was feeling this way, maybe it was just the alcohol getting to me. Although it was strange of him to invite her and not Ryan, Wyatt and I. I decided to stop eavesdropping and join everyone outside. As I passed Colby and y/n I pretended not to notice them, well not y/n, just Colby. I don't know why but I just didn't like the vibe he was giving off around her. I tried to shake all of my judgemental thoughts away and join in the conversation between my brother and Wyatt.
Y/n POV:
After mine and Colby's little chat I knew I had to check up on Riv and ensure myself that he was doing just fine and I was just overthinking it like usual. As I approached him I bent down and whispered in his ear.
"Are you alright Riv?" I tried to stay quiet so the others wouldn't hear. I could tell that my voice startled him when he jumped in his seat and cursed under his breath.
"Uh yeah, I'm fine" he stuttered and kept his eyes on his brother, avoiding any form of eye contact with me. I wasn't stupid I knew when Riv was lying, and right now was one of those moments. I needed to pull him aside and talk with him properly. Away from people.
