Chapter 16~ Get the night started!

"What do you mean you can't tell me what you and Wyatt were teasing him about?" I crossed both my arms Infront of my chest and impatiently waited for Ryan's response as I sat beside him on our living room couch.

"Look I don't want to be the one who makes it awkward between you and Riv... That's all I got to say" he threw his hands up in a defensive manner. Nothing Ryan was telling me was making any sense, I remained giving him the same confused look.

"Ryan nothing you say or do will ever make anything awkward between Riv and I, and that's the same for you and I, Wyatt also... nothing could possibly make me feel awkward around y'all we've been best friends for ten years now like come on" I tried my best to remain subtle with him. After saying that I felt like it helped me budget Ryan just a little more. He let out a small sigh of defeat then looked me in the eyes with a very genuine expression on his face.

"Wyatt and I made a joke about River having a little crush on you" he had a certain look in his eyes as he told me this that just screamed "I'm in deep trouble now". Once Ryan finally let the cat out of the bag I put my arms back down to my sides then burst out into laughter. Ryan's face immediately changed to confusion mixed with fear.

"You've been acting like I'm gonna fucking murder you if you told me that!" I tried to say through my laughter.

After my little laughing fit I finally recollected myself and finished what I was going to say to him.

"Well as silly as that joke is it's really gotten to Riv so can I please ask you to just lay off him a bit" I asked Ryan in a very sincere tone while regaining eye contact with him.

He went quiet for a split second, almost like he had to debate whether or not to agree with my wishes.

"Alright y/n... I'll try not to be too harsh on him for now" Ryan complied with no trouble at all, which made me feel a major weight lift off my shoulders, knowing that I hopefully won't have to have another conversation with River about him getting brutally teased for a while. I thanked Ryan for his compliance and gave him a tight hug before hopping back up from my seat and making my way back to Rivers room, this time feeling zero stress at all.

Like normal I gently knocked on his bedroom door and awaited for either a response or just to be let straight in. This time River didn't ask who it was and willingly opened his door seconds after my knocks. For some reason he seemed like he didn't expect me to come back, which I thought was quite cute. As I made my way into his room I placed myself back down on the edge of his bead.

"I just spoke with Ryan and he has agreed to lay off you" I informed River while giving him a kindhearted smile. River joined me on the bed yet again, this time not avoiding my eye contact what so ever.

"I appreciate it y/n... Thank you" his voice sounded a little deeper than usual. Instinctively I looked down to avoid eye contact for a split moment, then regained it back, this time with a smile on my face.

"Anytime Riv" I replied. I watched as his lips started to slowly curl up into a smile also. River broke eye contact as he started giggling and covering his mouth with his hand to try and hide it. It was the most purest thing seeing Riv smile, and it never failed to make my heart melt at the sight. Hearing his contagious chuckling quickly caused me to join in.

"Why are you laughing?" I asked through laughter which only caused Riv to laugh even harder. It was like a contagious disease, the more he laughed the more it'd make me laugh.

"I don't even know" he laughed. I took a moment to try and regain myself from the laughing, I took a deep breath then finally calmed down.

"Your a fucking cookie Riv" I teased and chuckled a little at my own joke.

"God I hope not... I don't want to be food!" Riv sarcastically responded. I looked my head at his child like manner with the same smile still plastered on my face.

"Go and get ready... We're going to Josh's soon" I chuckled and playfully pushed him on his shoulder.

"I am ready!" He said in a high voice. I stood up and started making my way to his door.

"Riv you always wear that, you sure you don't want to wear anything different for tonight?" I asked as I crossed my arms Infront of my chest yet again.

"Nope!" He too crossed his arms then started shaking his head like a disobedient child. I looked at him in adoration and held back my laughter.

"Alright then if you say so..." I replied then excused myself and left his room to go and prepare for tonight. Like usual it took what felt like hours just for me to finally decide on what I was going to wear out.

After I got changed I sat myself down Infront of my dresser table and thought about how I wanted to do my hair.

I checked myself out in my dresser table mirror, debating whether or not I was feeling this hairstyle or not.

"Screw it, it's not like I'm trying to impress anyone" I reassured myself then left to join the boys who were waiting for me in the living room.

"We ready?" Ryan turned to me as I entered the room. Although I was paying attention to Ryan I could very visibly see River staring at me from a far, I pretended not to notice and continued to answer Ryan's question.

"More ready than ever" I gave him an excited smile.

"Then let's get out of here!" He exclaimed and lead the way out of the house, we all followed suit.

"Dibs not driving!" Ryan shouted as he hastily placed his pointer finger up to his nose. Wyatt and I instantly followed his actions, leaving River to be the last one.

"Your an asshole" River gave his brother an annoyed look then accepted his fate as he got in the driver's seat.

"Should of been more quicker brother" Ryan chuckled back while making his way into the passenger side. Wyatt and I both made our way into the back seat, closing the car door beside both of us at the same time.

"Y/n do you want to have the honours of controlling the music?" Ryan turned in his seat to face me and held his hand out, which had his phone in it. His request put a big smile on my face and I felt privileged to do so.

"I won't say no to that" I giggled as I carefully grabbed the phone from his hand and put on one of the Spotify playlists I made for Ryan many years back. The mixed genres of rock, metal and rap played throughout the drive, we all sang together the entire ride there like a bunch of excited children.

Once we finally arrived at Josh's I turned the music off from Ryan's phone then politely passed it back to him. He accepted it back then started to call Josh, informing him that we were now here and that he should hurry up and let us in before River does another repeat of last time. Wyatt, Riv and I all chuckled along to Ryan's sarcastic warning, which actually ended up making Josh rush over to open his front door. We all bursted out into laughter witnessing Josh's unease as he came out of the house.

"Thanks babe" Ryan joked on the call then hung up.

"Come on ladies the night isn't gonna gonna wait on us" Ryan called out to us as he unplugged his seat belt. River and Wyatt looked mildly offended by Ryan's sarcastic miss gendering, I on the other hand dismissed it since I myself am a female. We all exited the vehicle and greeted Josh in our usual friendly manner.

"You look as beautiful as always y/n" Josh complimented as we both went in for a welcoming hug. I politely thanked him then went off to join River.

"Where are the drinks, let's get this night started!" River suggested, which I couldn't agree more. Josh led us through the house and out to the backyard where he already had a lovely fire going. We huddled around the fire while Josh handed us all cans of alcoholic beverages. The twins did not hesitate to open their cans the second they got them handed to them.

"Cheers baby!" Ryan chanted out loud with a pleased smile on his face as he lifted his drink up for a cheers. Instinctively we all clinked our cans together and cheered before drinking.
