Chapter 15~ Bully

River Rees X Y/N (Twin Paranormal)1,818 words~10 min read

The strange noise of constant shuffling slowly awoke me but I had zero energy to turn around to see what the source could be. Even if it was a ghost I honestly couldn't give a shit at this point, that's how tired I was. Sluggishly, I closed my eyes to try and fall back asleep, but that quickly became no use because as soon as I did that the noises got louder. I could now hear what sounded like my drawers being opened. I felt my gut drop and heart stop all at once as I laid there in absolute fear hoping that whatever it was causing the noises would fuck off. Okay yes I know I literally just said I wouldn't care if it was a ghost but scratch that, if it can physically open my drawers by itself then it sure as hell could do anything physical to me. I laid there overthinking every possible scenario of what could be the cause of all these noises, and non of them helped me relax.

I continue to pretend that I was still asleep, In hopes that this would somehow lessen the chance of being in danger.

I then hear what sounded like a male cough coming from the same direction as the other unknown noises. Immediately my instincts told me one of the twins or Wyatt were indeed in my room. Because of this overwhelming thought I rushed up from my bed to see who the hell was going through my drawers.

"River! What the hell are you doing going through my shit?" I slightly raised my voice in shock, causing him to jump in fear. I sat there confused out of my mind trying to think of any possible reason he would have the need to go through my own personal belongings. I watched as he slowly turned to me with the most apologetic look on his face, then slowly turned and stared in the direction of my bedroom door. Honestly just experiencing that freaky little moment made me think that River was possessed or something, until I decided to look over in the same direction he was looking and saw his brother standing at the entrance of my door way filming River with the most mischievous smile on his face.

"What the fuck are these boy's doing?" Is all I could think.

I watched in utter embarrassment as River pulled out one of my lingerie bra's from my drawer and clipped it over his head. Ryan's contagious laugh filled the room as he continued to record his twin humiliate the absolute shit out of himself.

"Um guy's excuse me, what the fuck?" I gave both of them a annoyed look. Ryan turned his phone camera toward me and River remained avoiding all eye contact with me, I could tell he wasn't purposely trying to do this.

"Sorry y/n, Wyatt and I dared him to wear one item of your clothing because this mother fucker won't tell us where he hid our tripod... So we're getting back at him by dearing him to do things we know he will hate to do" Ryan explained while panning his phone back in Rivers direction. I rolled my eyes and groaned in response to their rivalry.

"River give the tripod back... And while your at it, can you please give my bra back" I facepalmed myself in complete embarrassment.

"Fine... but you need to lay off the bullying Ryan" River quickly answered me then faced his brother and ordered him to stop bullying him.

"Fine, just tell us where the tripod is" Ryan demanded then stopped his recording. River let out a small defeated sigh before saying.

"On top of the fridge" he told bluntly. Ryan wasted no time before leaving my room to go retrieve his tripod back. I on the other hand was still stuck in the same embarrassed yet confused state. River kept his eyes peeled on the ground as he hastily returned my bra back to me. I quietly thanked him in return and watched as he rushed the hell out of my room.

"Well that was awkward" I thought to myself as I carefully placed my bra back in it's original drawer.

Well I'm up now, might as well get ready for the day.

I let out a relieving stretch before scavenging through my wardrobe to find an outfit to wear today.

I stood in front of my full length mirror debating whether I was feeling the fit or not. After a good 5 minutes of finalizing my thoughts I decided to just go with the fit. I effortlessly tied my hair up before leaving my room.

At the end of the hallway I could see Ryan sitting on the living room couch bundled up in his usual fluffy blanket. I smiled and shook my head as I entered the living room.

"Y/n I'm sorry about earlier... Wyatt and I probably shouldn't have dared River to do what he did" he immediately apologized as soon as he saw me.

"Thanks Ryan..." I quickly replied trying to shut down the topic. I swiftly made my way into the kitchen to grab some breakfast to help me wake up.

"Look I know you probably don't accept my apology but I promise it won't happen again" Ryan continued. I slowly looked up at him and could tell he meant every word by the look on his face.

"I appreciate it" I quietly said then went back to making food.

After breakfast and washing the dishes I decided to join Ryan on the couch. He turned to me with a certain expression on his face as if he didn't expect me to sit with him.

"Where's Riv?" I asked.

I was quite worried for him after Ryan humiliated the shit out of him.

"I don't know I think he's in his room" he replied in a low guilt filled tone. I immediately rose up from my seat after I received the information I needed and headed to Rivers room.

"Y/n wait" Ryan called out, causing me to stop in my tracks and turn back to face him. I gave him a look as if to say "go on"

"We're all going to Josh's tonight for some drinks, you down to come?" He told with an encouraging smile on his face.

"Duh! of course" I laughed and got excited about finally going out for some drinks. The last time we went out for drinks River threatened to drive through Josh's house because he was taking his sweet ass time letting us all in. Now that was a night I'll never forget.

"Alright great we're leaving at 7" Ryan informed me then went back to do whatever he was originally doing on his phone. Knowing him probably posting the embarrassing video of River on his Instagram story.

I departed from Ryan and continued making my way to Rivers room.

Once I found myself face to face with his bedroom door I politely knocked, hoping to hear a reply from the other side.

"What do you want Ryan...?" I heard River respond in a annoyed tone.

"Riv it's y/n" I softly said loud enough so he could hear me from the other side of the door. Instantly he went dead quiet and didn't open the door for a couple seconds. Honestly at first I thought he wasn't going to open the door at all.

"Sorry y/n I thought you were Ryan..." River explained in a very bummed out tone. I could only see half of his face through the small crack in the door that he left.

"Can I come in?" I tried asking in a kind voice, I didn't want him to think that I was upset with him. I could see him hesitant for a moment, but then gave in.

"Yeah sure..." His voice was still low toned. River opened his door some more for me to come in and I gladly did. As I came in I immediately noticed how dark it was in here.

Was River really hiding himself in his room because of what happened this morning? I walked over to the window and pushed his matte black curtains to the sides so it could let in more light. River remained standing Infront of his now closed door giving me a guilty look as he watched me allow more light to shine through his already dark themed bedroom.

I sat myself down at the end of his bed and hoped that Riv would engage in the conversation I was about to start.

"Are you okay Riv?" I asked in a genuine tone. He put his head down and crossed his arms Infront of himself while still leaning on the door.

"Y/n I am so sorry about earlier" he blurted out and helplessly sat down beside me.

"River it's fine, I know why you did it" I told in a serious tone, referring to Ryan's explanation he gave me. River let out a deep sigh then went back to keeping his eyes on the ground.

Personally I didn't want to have this conversation with him if he wasn't even going to be looking at me so I carefully reached my hands up to his face and made him look at me.

"Trust me it is all okay, I'm not upset with you in any way" I told him in the very same serious tone. River didn't bother to try and move out of my grasp, he just stared into my eyes looking so helpless. I hated seeing him like this, it really gutted me.

"Sometimes...I just get really sick of how Ryan treats me, Wyatt doesn't do it he only gets influenced by Ryan" Riv began explaining while still maintaining eye contact.

Now I know Ryan has always teased and made fun of River ever since I met these boys and vice versa, it's just a brotherly thing. But whatever it is Ryan's been bullying him about recently must really be something serious to River.

"Listen to me, I'm going to talk to Ryan about this and make sure he lays off of you alright?" I told while looking him right back in the eyes. River slowly closed his eyes and tried to relax while I still held him.

"I'm going to talk to him alright?" I repeated this time in a more calmer voice. River nodded in response then reopened his eyes. I carefully lowered my hands back down to my side and got up to go speak with Ryan.

"I really do appreciate you y/n..." River commented in a very heartfelt tone. I felt my heart melt as he said this, making me even more glad that I decided to check up on him.

"I really appreciate you too Riv" I softly replied back giving him a pure smile before leaving to find Ryan again.
