His words seemed like a consultation with Thalassa, but they were laced with icy undertones and intimidation.
Thalassaâs heart skipped a beat, tightening in her chest.
Bruce wasnât here to save her. What was he planning?
Her eyes blazed with a ferocious light, glaring at Bruce.
But Bruce ignored her helplessness and anger, squatting beside her. His gaze flickered as he caught a glimpse of two buttons undone at her chest.
He reached out, tearing the tape from Thalassaâs mouth.
Whatâs your angle, Bruce?â Thalassa asked, disregarding the sting of the tape on her skin, her eyes wary and voice thick with anger.
Bruce offered a mirthless smile. âYouâre my daughter. What other motives could I have but to rescue you?â
Thalassa was full of skepticism, staring at him, almost convinced.
Bruce continued, âEven if there were any motives, itâd be to ensure Lysander and Susan hit it off. Since you wonât help your old man gain any favor with Lysander, I have to pin my hopes on Susan.â
âYou think just anyone can get close to Lysander?â Thalassa responded sharply.
âIâm aware, but youâre no ordinary woman. Not only did you get close to Lysander, but you also bore him four children. If you could get close to Lysander, then surely you can help Susan get into his bed, right?â
Thalassaâs bound hands clenched tight, her eyes seething with rage as she stared at Bruceâs smug, chilling smirk.
âDonât look at me with those eyes. Your mother gave me that same look once, and I just couldnât resist her,â Bruce said with a twisted smile.
A cold shiver ran up Thalassaâs spine, numbing her body with shock and trembling with hatred.
He had the audacity to casually mention the assault on her mother and speak such vile words to her.
Was he insinuating something sinister towards her as well?
Hadnât he always claimed her as his daughter? Could he really be so shameless as to not spare even his own flesh and blood?
Thalassa ground her teeth in fury. âBruce, I had no idea you were in cahoots with the Brennan family. If Lysander finds out, do you know whatâs coming for you?â
âAh, my association with the Brennan family, I have you to thank for that. Remember when you left me hanging off the cliff? If it werenât for Faye Brennan cutting me down, you might have been the death of me. You sure are a âloving daughter,â almost taking your old manâs life.â
Bruceâs gaze darkened as he maintained his crouched position, locking eyes with Thalassa.
Thalassaâs brows were furrowed, her gaze filled with anger and caution, ready for any move he might make.
She remembered leaving Bruce on the mountain, of course. After retrieving the billion dollars he swindled from her, she instructed David to cut him down.
So, it was Faye who set him free?
âSo, youâve become the Brennan familyâs lapdog?â Thalassa retorted coldly.
âLetâs not use such ugly words. What lapdog? It was a partnership. If I can get you away from Lysanderâs side, itâs a win-win for us,â Bruce openly revealed the purpose of his collaboration with the Brennan family to Thalassa.
After all, Thalassa already knew. If she didnât help Susan become Lysanderâs woman, he would release the video of him and her mother to the public. He wasnât afraid of not having leverage over her.
âBruce, with all the wrongs youâve done, donât you fear retribution?â Thalassa hissed through clenched teeth.
âWrongs? I havenât done a single wrong. Those women, they all came to me willingly. And soon, youâll be among them,â Bruceâs eyes, cold and unyielding, bore into Thalassaâs, like a snake ready to strike into her soul.
Thalassaâs heart clenched in terror. âWhat did you say?â
