âActually, yesterday Iâ¦â Thalassa was about to explain that she had been cleaning Mr. Sinclairâs office when she accidentally witnessed Faye confessing her feelings to Lysander.
âSo, you skipped work yesterday morning, and in the afternoon when I asked you to clean up the top floor, guess what your did? You cleaned everywhere except Mr. Sinclairâs office. Are you planning to quit? Let me tell you, I personally check every day after work. I can tell at a glance whether youâve cleaned or not. Donât even think of slacking off!â
Before Thalassa could finish, Noreen beat her to the punch. Hands on hips, she shot her questions with a scrutinizing gaze. Taken aback, Thalassa blinked. It turned out she and director Noreen were talking about two different things.
She quickly backtracked, explaining. âNo, director Noreen, Mr. Sinclair was working in his office all afternoon yesterday. I didnât want to disturb him, so I didnât go in to clean.â
âThat excuse is acceptable. But from now on, you need to wait until Mr. Sinclair leaves, then you can clean his office and call it a day.â
Thalassa was taken aback. âWhat if Mr. Sinclair works overtime?â
âThen you work overtime too. Overtime is paid separately. If you ever leave without cleaning Mr.
Sinclairâs office again, Iâll dock half a monthâs pay!â Noreen laid down the law.
Thalassa managed a bitter smile. âDirector Noreen, there might be other solutionsâ¦â
âI think this is the most feasible. Itâs settled.â Noreen said, turning on her heel and leaving.
Thalassa was helpless.
From now on she had to wait for Lysander to leave the company before she could.
Who knew if he was a workaholic, working late into the night every day!
If that was the case, she would have to work late into the night too.
That was impossible. She wanted to go home early every day, hold her children, and go to bed early.
Feeling down, Thalassa went to the top floor to sweep. As she was mopping, a pair of high heels appeared in front of her mop.
The off-white heels looked very posh.
Looking up. Thalassa saw Fayeâs beautiful and noble face.
Today she wasnât wearing her usual black and white ladyâs suit, but a trendy professional outfit. A yellow velvet skirt paired with a matching suit, her hair curled, her makeup delicately feminine.
She looked fashionable and feminine, oozing the elegance of high society, a change from her usual strong and rigid image.
Even Thalassa, a woman herself, was dumbstruck by her beauty. So pretty!
âThalassa, come to my office!â Faye commanded, striding towards her office in her high heels.
With each step, she walked with confidence and allure, her charisma off the charts.
Thalassa put down her mop and followed.
Standing in front of Fayeâs desk, she asked, âFaye, did you need something?â
Faye opened her phone and placed it on the desk, playing a recording.
The recording was of the conversation in the elevator just now, where some female employees were discussing Faye and Lysander.
Feeling perplexed after hearing it, Thalassa said, âFaye,â¦â
Thalassa, do you know the consequences of spreading rumors?â Faye cut her off, her gaze hard as she looked at Thalassa. Fayeâs attitude was chilly, her eyes full of hostility and disgust as she looked at Thalassa.
Thalassa might dress simply, but her face was pure and her demeanor genuine. This sort of innocence was something Faye lacked.
Faye thought, maybe it was this quality that drew Lysander to Thalassa and made it impossible for him to forget her.
