The elevator was buzzing with chatter, female employees gossiping left, right and centre.
âHereâs the tea, girls. Yesterday, Faye confessed her feelings to Mr. Sinclair, but got shot down hard.â
âReally? Faye is so gorgeous, and sheâs Mr. Sinclairâs personal secretary. If she got rejected, what chance do we have?â
âLetâs get real here. Weâre lucky to be working at the Sinclair Group and catching a glimpse of Mr.
Sinclair himself is a treat. Donât get your hopes up, a woman pragmatically sipped at her coffee.
âI heard Mr. Sinclair is gay, heâs into dudes, another woman piped up, eyes shining with excitement.
Thalassa was just taking a sip of her coffee when this bombshell dropped, causing her to spew her drink everywhere, choking on her laughter.
Coffee splashed onto the woman in front, and Thalassa quickly apologized, pulling out a tissue to help clean up the mess. âIâm so sorry, I didnât mean to.â
âNo worries, Iâve got it,â Tia, the woman who had just announced Mr. Sinclairâs supposed sexual preference, accepted the tissue, wiping off her clothes.
âDonât look so shocked, Iâve got the facts to back it up, Tia said, knowing that Thalassa was surprised by her revelation.
She continued, âHave you heard? Mr. Sinclair turned down Faye because, in his eyes, thereâs no difference between her and a guy. Faye is so gorgeous, with a killer body and always dressed to kill.
Any man would fall for her, but Mr. Sinclair had zero interest, even said she looked like a dude to him.
What does that tell you? It means Mr. Sinclair is into men, not interested in women at all.â
Thalassa was flabbergasted. How did the employees get wind of these juicy details? Even the reason for Mr. Sinclairâs rejection of Faye had made the rounds.
âAlso, get this, to disguise his sexuality, Mr. Sinclair randomly picked a janitor to make out with in front of Faye, to kill her hopes. That janitor is no match for Faye, sheâs plain and dowdy. Mr. Sinclair even had the nerve to say she was the real woman to him. Isnât that just insulting Faye?â Tia was practically buzzing with excitement, laughing as she relayed the -gossip to Thalassa.
Thalassa was at a loss for words.
She was plain and dowdy?
Thalassa chuckled, âWho knows. Everyone has their own style, their own unique traits. How can we compare people?â
Tia blinked, laughing. âA janitor compared to a girl like Faye? Theyâre not even in the same league.â
âDing!â The elevator stopped at the 10th floor, the Cleaning Department.
Thalassa gave her a small smile, stepping out of the elevator.
It took Tia a moment to catch on.
âOh my God, was that the janitor Mr. Sinclair used to insult Faye?â
Back at the Cleaning Department on the 10th floor.
Other employees commented, âYouâre slow on the uptake, discussing her right in front of her, even asking her opinion. Youâre something else.â
Tia smacked her forehead, realizing her faux pas.
As Thalassa walked into the Cleaning Department, her boss, Noreen stopped her, âThalassa, what the hell? Do you not want your paycheck anymore?â
Thalassa straightened her back, feeling guilty, âDirector Noreen, I can explain.â
She didnât try to seduce Lysander, he suddenly pulled her in, using her as an excuse to reject Faye.
She was innocent.
âWhatâs there to explain? The facts are clear as day, how can you explain this!â Noreenâs attitude was stern, her face filled with reproach.
