Thalassa hadnât seen her children in days. Their adorable, cuddly faces were all she could think of.
Now, they were here, their babyish voices calling out to her.
Thalassa hurriedly walked towards them, squatting down and opening her arms to welcome the four little ones sprinting towards her.
They ran fast, all four of them crashing into her arms. The immense impact sent Thalassa stumbling backward, almost falling. A strong, muscular arm reached out, steadying her from behind.
The force of his grip sent a jolt through Thalassaâs heart, but she quickly composed herself, greedily hugging her four adorable children, nuzzling their soft, innocent faces and kissing their rosy cheeks.
Their soft, milkyâscented faces were healing Thalassaâs wounded heart.
Hugging her children felt like holding the whole world in her arms.
âSweethearts, how did you get here? Mommy missed you so much,â Thalassaâs voice was full of emotion.
âMommy, we missed you too. Why didnât you come to Royal Estates to see us?â Elowen snuggled into Thalassaâs arms, on the verge of tears.
She missed her mother so much.
âMommy, we wanted Daddy to take us to see you, but Daddy is always soâbusy,â Dorian complained.
âMommy, next time Iâll just hack into the Royal Estatesâ system and cut the power so we donât have to stay there,â Atticus, usually so sensible, was now talking big, his youthful voice tugging at Thalassaâs heartstrings.
âMommy, I miss you so much that I canât sleep. Iâve been fixing these pendants for you. Iâve fixed so many, and theyâre all for you,â Sophiaâs eyes welled up with tears.
It had been days since theyâd seen their mother, and their little hearts were filled with thoughts of her.
All they could think of was how to see their mother again.
Thalassa, hearing their soft, babyish voices, felt a pang in her heart. She hugged them tighter. âIâm sorry, I shouldâve come to see you sooner. From now on, I will be with you every day. Is that okay?â
âUhâhuh, okay,â Elowen nodded enthusiastically.
They were easy to appease. Just the promise of their motherâs daily company was enough to cheer them up.
âHello, officer. We have a thief hereâ¦â Amelia was on the phone when someone snatched it from her.
Startled, she was about to grab it back when she saw Lysanderâs icy, stern face. She quickly plastered a smile on her face and said, âLysander, Thalassaâs been stealing. I was just calling the police.â
Lysander glanced at her dismissively, hung up the phone, and tossed it back to her, which Amelia caught in a hurry.
âLysander, youâre here, great! Thalassaâs really been a surprise. Sheâs been eyeing the bracelet Amelia gave me this morning. Itâs not just a bracelet she wants to steal, itâs the status that comes with it. She really doesnât know her place.â
Charlotte walked over to Lysander, her previously arrogant face now replaced with a sweet smile. She was about to cozy up to him when Lysanderâs icy gaze stopped her in her tracks.
She dropped her hand, embarrassed, and forced a smile.
