The thought of what Evelyn had said that day, that the kids might forget her if they didnât see her for a long time, sent a cold shiver down Thalassaâs spine.
Ever since she had her four adorable munchkins, Thalassa had given them all her love. They were her motivation to keep going no matter how tough things got, her soothing balm in the fatigue of life.
Whenever she felt lost, just the thought of her little ones filled Thalassaâs heart with warmth.
How could her beloved little ones, who she loved with all her strength, ever forget her?
Sitting in her office chair, feeling drained, Thalassa took out her phone, opened her photo album, and looked at pictures of her children. Their happy, playful smiles recharged her weary heart.
Ever since she told Lysander that she wanted to leave him and wanted to break all ties with him, he had disappeared. It seemed like he deliberately kept her and the children apart.
She didnât even get to see them at the school gate.
Thalassa couldnât understand what Lysander was up to.
He had told her to compromise for a lifetime. Yet, he sent her back to Vibrant Oasis Residences.
Thalassa couldnât figure out what was going on in his mind, and she didnât dare to cross him.
These past few days, Thalassa didnât have the courage to contact Lysander.
âThalassa, get ready. Youâre coming with me to a charity dinner tonight,â Ethan walked into her office to inform Thalassa.
Thalassa quickly put away her phone, looked at Ethan, and asked, âWhat charity dinner?â
âItâs a fundraising event hosted by the Sinclair Group. I received an invitation,â Ethan replied.
The Sinclair Groupâs fundraising eventâ¦.
Thalassa hesitated, paused for a moment, then said, âMr. Ethan, could possibly not go?â
Ethan looked surprised. He smiled at her and said, âThis is a golden opportunity. You can meet many businessmen at the dinner. Most people would kill for this chance, and you donât want to go?â
Thalassa knew that this was a social gathering of the upper class, where she could meet a lot of people and expand her network. It was the best place for business people to make deals.
But the event was hosted by the Sinclair Group, and many members of the Sinclair family would be there. Zephyr didnât like her, and Lysander was ambiguous towards her.
She wasnât sure how to face Lysander yet, so she didnât really want to go.
âI donât have formal wear for such an upscale place. Iâd better not go,â Thalassa found an excuse without revealing her true thoughts.
âYou donât have to worry about the dress. Iâll arrange it for you. You canât refuse this time because youâre going as my secretary. Youâll need to take notes on potential business partners for me,â Ethan blocked Thalassaâs excuse, leaving her no chance to refuse.
Just as Thalassa was about to say something else, Ethan had already left the office. It seemed like she had no choice but to go.
At half past eight in the evening.
Thalassa, dressed in the haute couture gown Ethan had arranged for her, accompanied him to the Sinclair Winery.
The winery was on a hilltop, the winding road leading up to it illuminated with dazzling neon lights, revealing a magnificent and luxurious scene.
The winery stood there like a castle on the hilltop, showcasing the Sinclair familyâs luxury and wealth.
After getting out of the car, Thalassa followed Ethan to the entrance of the banquet..
There were doormen at the entrance checking the invitations.
Ethan handed his invitation to the doorman, who respectfully let him in. When he saw Thalassa, he stopped her. âIâm sorry, Miss, but you need an invitation to enter.â
They had to record everyone who entered the banquet in the guestbook.
Thalassa paused and looked at Ethan. She was about to say that she might as well leave.
Ethan smiled and said to the doorman, âSheâs my secretary. You can just record her as my date.â
âEthan, your date is really beautiful!â A refined voice suddenly rang out.
