A sharp gust of wind whistled past Thalassaâs arm, and she braced herself for the imminent piercing pain.
Suddenly, the piercing wind ceased, and the anticipated pain never came.
Even the air seemed to freeze.
Thalassa lowered her arm and opened her eyes to see a tall figure standing before her. Lysanderâs big hand was clenching the leg of a chair mere inches from her.
If it were not for Lysanderâs intervention, her arm would definitely have been punctured by the chair leg.
Witnessing the manâs sudden appearance in front of her, Lucy contracted her fierce eyes in shock.
Lysander shoved the chair aside, sending Lucy stumbling backward. The chair clattered to the ground, echoing loudly.
Lysanderâs deep and cold gaze fell on her as he said, âBreaking into private property and causing trouble. Thatâs at least a three-year sentence!â
âIâ¦â Lucy was intimidated by the strong aura of the man before her. Just as she was about to say something, her daughter stepped forward, gripping her arm, and signaled her to remain silent.
Her daughter, Susan, also Bruceâs daughter, worked as a PR executive in an international corporation.
She was pretty knowledgeable about the business world.
Of course, she recognized Lysander.
Sensing the threat, she stopped Lucy from further speaking. With a forced smile, she timidly apologized to Lysander, âWe acted impulsively. We will not repeat such reckless behavior. We are really sorry.â
Lysanderâs cold gaze met hers, his voice authoritative as he said, âIâm not the one you should be apologizing to.â
Susan was quick to understand Lysanderâs implication. She hurriedly turned to Thalassa and apologized, âIâm sorry. I should have stopped my mom from acting so recklessly. It wonât happen again.
And donât worry about the broken stuff. We will compensate for it.â
Thalassa took a deep breath, then said, âNo need. Just leave and donât ever come back.â
She did not want any further entanglements with this mother-daughter duo, nor did she want to see them again.
If she accepted their compensation proposal, she would have to settle the exact amount with them and arrange a bank transfer, but she did not want to say another word to them.
âAlright, weâll leave now,â Susan replied politely, pulling Lucy away.
Lucy was clearly not satisfied with this result. She tried to resist by pulling Susanâs shirt with all her might, wanting to say something. However, Susan firmly stopped her and forcefully led her out of Thalassaâs house.
Once they had exited the building, Susan finally slowed her pace.
Lucy was still fuming. âWhy did you act so submissively and apologetically? And why did you apologize to them? Have you forgotten why we came here? Are we going to just leave without giving them a piece of our mind? We look like losers!â
Susan stopped abruptly and turned around. Her voice was stern as she said, âMom, do you realize the trouble we almost caused?â
âWhat trouble?â Lucy was still breathing heavily with anger.
âDo you know who was that man who suddenly appeared and protected Thalassa?â Susan asked Lucy.
âWho? His majesty?â Lucy retorted sarcastically.
âAlmost. He is the king of this world. Thatâs Lysander Sinclair, the CEO of the Sinclair group and basically the king of Starhaven. He could destroy anyone with a flick of his wrist.â Susan had only seen Lysander in magazines and on television and heard numerous rumors about him.
âWait, he is Lysander Sinclair?â Lucyâs face turned pale with shock.
