âIâve let go. Itâs your turn now!â The middle-aged womanâs voice wavered with emotion.
Thalassa dropped the shard of porcelain she had been holding and turned to Evelyn. âMom, you should let it go too.â
She never intended to harm the woman. She just wanted her to let go. Now that she had, Thalassa cast aside the threatening shard.
Evelyn, realizing that Thalassa had returned and the woman had loosened her grip, also let go.
Panting heavily, her hair a mess, she looked disheveled.
âSo, youâre Bruceâs daughter with this tramp?â The middle-aged woman was tall and thin with curly hair.
Her fierce appearance painted a clear picture of a shrew.
She glared at Thalassa, her teeth gritted in anger.
She was Bruceâs wife, Lucy.
âSheâs not⦠sheâs not Bruceâs daughter!â Evelyn retorted, spittle flying from her mouth in her agitation.
Thalassaâs heart pounded as she quickly shielded her mother from Lucy. She looked directly at Lucy, admitting, âYouâre right. I am Bruceâs daughter with my mom! Bruce deceived my mom by hiding the fact that he was married. When she found out, she cut him off! Instead of teaching your cheating husband a lesson, why are you here bothering my mom?â
Lucyâs breathing became labored as she listened to Thalassaâs confession, her eyes filled with rage.
âEven if she didnât know back then, what about now? Sheâs still seducing my husband! Sheâs just a natural-born tramp!â Lucy pointed at Evelyn, her words dripping with scorn.
Evelynâs eyes welled up with tears, and her hand, clutching Thalassaâs clothes, shook with the force of her anger.
Being insulted like this, how could she not be angry? However, she had no words to fire back, being the one deceived, Who was to blame for her poor judgment, repeatedly being fooled by that scoundrel, Bruce?
Who was to blame for her inability to control her own heart, falling for such a man?
She had even hoped that she could live a life together with him!
Thalassa saw Evelynâs struggle, her helplessness, her pain, and her anger.
She stood firm in front of Evelyn, meeting Lucyâs fierce gaze. She said, âIf my mom was seducing him, she wouldnât have hit him over the head! He was the one who kept tempting my mom, even followed her to a dating site, hiding his identity to meet her! You should control your husband and stop him from wreaking havoc on othersâ lives!â
âWhat? Youâre the one who hit Bruce over the head and didnât admit it! You think you can damage his face and not pay a dime? I will do the same to you!â Although Lucy was furious at Bruceâs philandering, she was also deeply in love with him. She was drawn to his handsome appearance and his sweet words. Like most women, she was bewitched by Bruceâs charm.
Even knowing what kind of a person Bruce truly was, she could not help but love him.
Now, hearing that Evelyn was the one who had injured Bruce, her anger flared up. She was determined to get even.
In her rage, she spotted a stool not far away, picked it up and, with a fierce expression, swung it towards Evelyn, who was standing behind Thalassa. Thalassa watched as the sharp leg of the stool came down rapidly. Her pupils dilated as she instinctively raised her arm to shield herself.
