âHertha, thatâs the back seat. Youâre driving.â Thalassa pointed out.
âOh, rightâ Hertha seemed a bit out of it. She quickly shut the back door and slid into the driverâs seat.
Thalassa could only sigh at her friendâs state of mind as she climbed into the car. Hertha started the engine, and they were off.
As they cruised down the road, Hertha couldnât help but picture Alaricâs charming face.
His sly, hidden smile, the beauty spot by his eye that twinkled when he laughed. Everything about him was burned into her memory.
The first time she saw him, her heart raced. The second time, she was a bundle of nerves.
She had no idea what was wrong with her Heâd already deleted her contact. Clearly, he wasnât interested in her.
So, what was she still hoping for?
But she just couldnât get him out of her mind.
âHertha, red light ahead! Stop!â Thalassa warned her urgently The traffic light had turned red, but Hertha just kept on driving, not slowing down.
After hearing Thalassaâs warning, Hertha quickly hit the brakes.
â
With the sudden stop, Thalassa lurched forward and had to grab onto the seat to prevent herself from falling âBANG!â
A car behind them crashed into theirs.
Their car jolted back and forth from the impact, shaking Thalassa âDamn, we got hit! Thalassa exclaimed.
Quickly realizing what had happened, both girls hurried out to check the damage.
Sure enough, the rear of Herthaâs red car was dented, with parts exposed.
The silver car that hit them, however, was unscathed Thalassa didnât own a car, but she had a license and knew the basic traffic rules.
The windows of the silver car were tinted, making it impossible to see inside from the outside.
They had been rear-ended, but the driver showed no signs of coming out to deal with the situation.
Hertha stood there, looking dazed and confused Thalassa stepped forward and tapped on the car window. âHey, you hit us from the back. Can you come out so we can sort this out?â
Even though the driver was inside the car, Thalassa knew he could hear her.
As she finished speaking, the window rolled down, revealing Alaricâs face, âI did rear-end you, but you made an emergency stop. Any car would have hit you.â
âWell, itâs true that we stopped suddenly, but you rear-ended us. Thatâs on you. Even if the traffic police came, youâd still be at fault. Looks like your driving skills could use some work.â Thalassa retorted.
Hearing this, Hertha rushed over to stop Thalassa from saying anything further. She didnât want Alaric to think any less of her.
Alaric just laughed at Thalassaâs comeback, flashing his perfect white teeth. He glanced towards the back seat, âLysander, your womanâs got some nerve. even daring to talk back to me. Nice.â
Lysander?
Hearing this name made Thalassaâs heart skip a beat.
The next moment, the backseat window slid down, revealing Lysanderâs handsome face with its striking features.
