She needed to go back and keep Evelyn company, so she wouldnât feel lonely.
Most importantly, back on the golf course, she distinctly felt a change in Lysanderâs demeanor.
His heated presence pressing against her back was akin to that of a predator poised to pounce on its prey.
If she went back to the Royal Estates, it would undoubtedly lead to a tumultuous confrontation that would last a very long time.
She wanted to rest. She was worn out.
Therefore, she decided to head back to the Vibrant Oasis Residences, seeking solitude.
The moment Thalassa finished speaking, Hertha turned the steering wheel, veering towards the left at the intersection.
Thalassa was taken aback. âYouâre on the straight lane!â
Yet she turned right, an act that would certainly earn a penalty.
It was quite precarious.
âReally? I had no idea.â Hertha responded, seemingly oblivious.
Thalassa realized that perhaps she was being too optimistic. Hertha must still be upset. Her earlier composure was merely a facade.
âItâs okay. Getting a penalty isnât the end of the world. Just be careful next time.â Thalassa reassured her.
As the car ventured forward, nearing the Vibrant Oasis Residences, a night market came into view. Its stalls were bustling with activity.
While observing the scene from the car window, Thalassa made a suggestion. âHertha, itâs been a while since we had a drink. How about we grab some barbecue and booze tonight?â
âSounds good.â Hertha parked the car by the roadside.
They chose the most bustling stall and ordered barbecue and some beer.
Soon, the vendor served them. The tantalizing aroma of the barbecue wafting through the air truly tempted oneâs taste buds.
Thalassa patted Herthaâs shoulder, smiling. âNothing a good barbecue canât fix, and if it doesnât, thereâs always a second round.â Hertha, finally breaking into a smile, exclaimed, âExactly! Whatâs there to worry about?! Cheers! Letâs drink till we drop!â
They each poured themselves a pint of beer.
In the midst of their merriment, Thalassaâs phone rang. It was Fitch.
Thalassa answered with a warm and slightly tipsy voice. âHelloâ¦â
âMs. Everhart, the children want to talk to you.â Fitch hadnât finished speaking.
From the other end of the phone, a childâs soft voice echoed. âMommy, why arenât you home?â
It was Dorianâs voice.
âMommy, where are you?â Atticus asked.
âJust tell us where you are, and weâll come find you.â Elowen eagerly added.
âMommyâ¦â Sophia called out in a small voice.
Thalassaâs heart melted when she heard her childrenâs voices.
She softly replied, âMommyâs visiting Grandma. Be good and sleep tight. Iâll bring Grandma to play with you in a few days.â
âCheers!â Hertha, already tipsy, raised her glass for a toast, oblivious to Thalassaâs ongoing phone call.
Back at the Royal Estates, Fitch had his phone on speaker.
Herthaâs toast and the clinking of glasses were clearly heard through the phone.
Lysander, seated on the couch, lifted his gaze and looked towards Fitch with a penetrating stare.
Fitch tensed up. It seemed that Ms. Everhart was out drinking with someone else. He couldnât help but worry for her.
