He wanted to pull his hand out of hers, but to no avail.
Hertha led him to an empty area where nobody was playing. Hertha picked up a golf club off the ground, stumbling forward as she did so.
Alaric quickly stuck out his foot, preventing her from falling face-first onto the ground.
Hertha landed squarely on his chest, avoiding a mouthful of dirt.
Alaricâs chest rumbled with laughter. âI thought you were strong. You canât even lift a golf club?â
Hertha quickly straightened herself up and huffed at Alaric. âI just wasnât ready. Who says I canât lift it?
Look, Iâm doing it now.â
With a show of strength, she lifted the golf club and swung it through the air.
The club whizzed past Alaricâs face, making him lean back hurriedly to avoid being hit.
âHey, hey, hey, are you trying to murder me? My handsome face couldâve been damaged. Could you afford that?â Alaric was no longer laughing. Instead, he looked annoyed.
âOf course, I could.â
âWhat would you pay me with?â Alaric scoffed.
âMyself.â Hertha lifted her chin. Her eyes sparkled with confidence as she stared at him.
Alaric was taken aback and fell silent.
This woman was terrifying. She was dead set on getting him, one way or another.
âIâll leave you to it. Iâm outta here.â Alaric turned to leave.
âHey, get back here! I was going to teach you! Who am I supposed to teach if youâre gone?â Hertha tossed her hand, ready to put the club down and grab him.
She didnât manage her strength well, and the golf club ended up landing on Alaricâs foot.
âOuch!â Alaric hopped up in pain. He clutched his foot in agony as he hopped around.
Their commotion had attracted the attention of Thalassa and Lysander.
Thalassa couldnât help but laugh at Alaric, who was hopping around while holding his foot. It was a hilarious sight.
In the sunlight, Lysanderâs intense gaze was fixed on her laughing face. A glint flashed in his eyes as he focused even more on her beautiful face.
Panicked, Hertha dropped the club and rushed to inspect the damage. However, since he was still hopping on one foot, she was at a loss for what to do. âI didnât mean for that to happen. Are you okay?â
âStay away from me! Donât come close! As long as you disappear from my sight, Iâll be fine.â Alaric was fuming. His face was clouded over in anger as he spoke.
Herthaâs heart sank, her eyes dimmed, and her face fell into disappointment.
âAre you serious?â
âOf course I am! Now get out of here!â Alaric was at his witâs end. He had never been treated like this before.
Hertha must be out to get him.
Sensing his impatience, Hertha felt a lump in her throat, and her eyes began to tear up. âOkay, from now on, I wonât appear in front of you.â
With that, she turned and ran.
Thalassa felt worried while watching this. She handed the golf club to Lysander and quickly said, âIâm going to check on her.â
And off she went, following in Herthaâs footsteps.
Hertha was truly hurt, so she ran fast. Thalassa hadnât fully recovered yet and couldnât keep up.
âHertha, wait for me!â Thalassa called out to her while chasing after her.
As they passed the golf courseâs rest area, a deep, middle-aged male voice stopped her. âThalassa, letâs have a chat.â
