The moment Thalassa heard this, she became flustered and quickly tried to explain, âI didnât say it like thatâ¦â
Before she could finish, she was met with Lysanderâs icy and piercing gaze.
Frightened, she froze and silently sipped her water, saying nothing more.
Had she upset him by not telling others that she was his girlfriend?
And if she did, wouldnât her punishment be severe?
âSo, what if I claimed to be your girlfriend just to get in here? What are you going to do about it? Come on, go ahead; Iâm not scared.â Hertha defiantly raised her chin and stepped closer to Alaric.
Caught off guard by her boldness, Alaric shifted his chair away, distancing himself from her.
His tone was unmistakably that of one who had admitted defeat. âAlright, maâam, you win. Can we drop it now?â
âHmph, calling me maâam wonât help!â Hertha responded with a huff of arrogance.
Just then, a middle-aged man from the neighboring umbrella came over and stood by Lysanderâs side with a respectful, pleasing demeanor. He smiled and said, âMr. Sinclair, your golf skills are unrivaled.
Itâs truly an honor to witness your prowess.â
Thalassa twitched at the corner of her mouth. Such sycophancy was hard to bear.
She felt second-hand embarrassment for him.
Lysander took another sip of his drink as his aura exuded an intimidating nobility. He gave no attention to the man standing beside him.
Daniel Brennan, ignored and left in a dilemma, was visibly embarrassed.
His assistant hurried over and whispered something into his ear.
Danielâs face turned pale in shock. He stood in front of Lysander, acting humbler than ever. âMr.
Sinclair, please give us, the Brennan family, a chance.â
The Brennan Group was going bankrupt, all thanks to Lysander.
He invited Lysander to play golf today, hoping to beg for mercy on behalf of the Brennan family.
Thalassaâs hand, holding the water bottle, paused. She looked at Daniel, feeling confused.
The Brennan family?
Wasnât it Fayeâs family?
The transparency of the water bottle magnified Lysanderâs hand as he held it.
âThe mistake the Brennan family has made cannot be repaid with just the bankruptcy of the Brennan Group. Daniel, go home and reflect. If you canât do that, someone will take you to a place where you can.â Lysander spoke with a chilling, imposing tone, leaving no room for negotiation.
Danielâs hopeful eyes dimmed instantly.
He knew that nothing he said now would make a difference. He bowed slightly and left, heading towards the golf lounge.
The atmosphere was tense.
Thalassa sipped her water in silence, while Hertha, upset about Alaric deliberately distancing himself, also kept quiet.
âDo you know how to play?â Lysanderâs deep voice suddenly broke the silence.
Thalassa snapped back to reality and met Lysanderâs gaze.
Was he asking her?
Thalassa shook her head. âNo.â
Her life was too ordinary to have any exposure to golf. It was a sport for the upper class.
Iâll teach you.â He said as he grabbed her hand and pulled her up.
