The car pulled up in front of the opulent Royal Estates. First to step out was Lysander, followed closely by Thalassa. As they entered the grand foyer, their four little cherubs came rushing towards them in a hilarious competition to see who could reach their mom first.
Thalassa bent down to scoop up Sophia, who had won the race. Gently, she tucked a stray lock of hair behind her daughterâs ear. Her voice was soft and affectionate as she said, âDid you have fun at preschool today?â
âYes, it was fun. Today, the teacher taught us how to restore old paintings. The teacher praised me and said I was the best.â Sophiaâs face beamed with delight. She was so proud that she couldnât help but share the good news with her mom.
âThatâs my girl. You make Mommy so proud.â Thalassa cooed, planting a quick kiss on her chubby little cheek.
Sophia smiled shyly as her eyes sparkled with unparalleled happiness.
Meanwhile, Elowen was tugging at Thalassaâs leg. Her small head tilted up to look at her mom as she cutely said, âMe too. Iâm good, too. The teacher said Iâm really good at eating.â
She was desperate for her momâs praise. Her plump little face was flushed with anticipation. Elowen was enrolled in a gourmet appreciation class. Apart from the usual lessons, her school day revolved around food.
Elowenâs cute voice, coupled with her chubby cheeks and sparkling eyes, made her so adorable that no one on earth could resist showering her with affection Thalassa couldnât help but chuckle as she bent down to stroke Elowenâs face. âYes, Elowen, youâre amazing. Youâre a real gourmet champion.â
âMommy, I didnât get any praise from the teacher.â Dorian said with a pout, looking dejected.
âItâs okay, Dorian. Youâre an amazing big brother, and you take care of your sisters so well.â Thalassa comforted him with her own praise.
Dorianâs face lit up. âYes, yes, I love my sisters and my mommy the most.â
Thalassa smiled warmly at her sonâs declaration.
Meanwhile, Atticus stood a little distance away from Thalassa. He wasnât looking at his mom, but rather at Lysander. His gaze made it seem like he was alienating his father.
Lysander was also looking at him. Their eyes were locked; it was as if they were engaged in a silent battle of wills.
Thalassa noticed the tension and followed Atticusâ gaze. The sight of Lysanderâs intense gaze fixed on Atticus was a bit unsettling.
They were father and son, one with a gaze deep and brooding, the other with eyes youthful and stubborn. The air between them seemed to crackle as they each uttered an unspoken challenge to each other.
Thalassa stepped in, blocking Lysanderâs view. She asked Atticus cautiously, âWhatâs wrong, sweetie?
Are you upset?â
The question was like a dam breaker. Atticus buried his face in Thalassaâs leg as he expressed his sorrow through a pained voice. âDad took away all my tablets.â
He wanted to cry, but he was bravely holding back his tears.
Thalassa felt sympathy wash over her. She quickly crouched down and placed Sophia gently on the floor, then enveloped Atticus, in a comforting hug. Softly, she asked, âWhat happened, baby? Tell Mommy.â
Atticus didnât respond, but his tiny body nestled against Thalassa. He only acted vulnerable with his mother.
Thalassa held him close and stroked his back, offering silent comfort. She wasnât sure what had happened, so she chose to stay quiet.
Lysander, on the other hand, walked over to the couch and took a seat. His authoritative presence filled the room as he gave out an order to Fitch. âTell the kitchen to prepare seafood tonight.â
âOf course, Lysander.â Fitch answered respectfully.
Although Lysander didnât say anything, his aura alone was intimidating enough. Even though he was a distance away from Thalassa and the kids, his silent authority hung in the air, making it harder for anyone to speak freely or even breathe.
With Atticus unwilling to talk, Thalassa couldnât force it out of him. All she could do was offer him a comforting embrace, hoping it would help him relax.
