Thalassa approached Ethan, offering him the contract.
âMr. Ethan, itâs only been a few days since I joined the Crawley Group. Isnât it a bit inappropriate to have me negotiate with a large corporation like the Sinclair Group?â
She felt like a small fish in a big pond. She was hardly capable of dealing with a big shot like Lysander, so she was curious as to why she was sent to negotiate.
Ethan flipped open the contract. His expression froze for just a moment, and his eyebrows furrowed.
Thalassa could see his disappointment and apologized again. âMr. Ethan, Iâm really sorry, Iâ¦â
âThalassa, youâre getting a bonus this month.â Ethan suddenly beamed.
A bonus?
Thalassa was taken aback. A bonus for what? She was utterly confused. She hadnât completed her task, and yet she was getting a bonus?
âMr. Ethan, are you feeling okay?â Thalassa asked, feeling surprised.
âWhy would I be sick?â Ethan was bewildered. He suddenly noticed her swollen lips and grew concerned. âAre you sick? Your lips are swollen. Go take a few days off. Ask Betty for leave. Donât worry, itâs paid leave.â
Once again, someone noticed her swollen lips.
Thalassa felt embarrassed and ashamed. Her cheeks flushed as she lowered her head. âIâm not sick. I just had some spicy food.â
Ethan paused, noticing Thalassaâs blushing face. He instantly understood what had happened.
âOh, I seeâ¦â Ethan drew out this sentence with a knowing look on his face. He then began speaking to Thalassa in a teasing tone, âThalassa, youâve done a great job for the company. We wonât let you go unrewarded. Keep up the good work.â
Lysander, the hot chili pepper, had proven to be too hot to handle, leaving her lips inflamed. As a man, how could Ethan not understand what had happened?
Thalassa blinked as her confusion grew. âI did a good job?â
âYes, look here. Lysander has signed.â Ethan flipped the contract to the last page. In the lower left corner, Lysanderâs name was boldly signed.
Thalassa was surprised. She had no idea when Lysander had signed the contract.
She had assumed that Lysander would not cooperate with them if the Crawley Group was delivering to Leopold.
Yet he had signed.
Seemed like his cold attitude towards her earlier wasnât directed at Leopold, but specifically at her.
He had decided to sign from the beginning. He was just making things difficult for her, which was why he was so angry. He evenâ¦
Thalassaâs heart skipped a beat at the thought.
She wasnât feeling well.
Thalassa composed herself and asked Ethan, âMr. Ethan, did you intentionally send me to the Sinclair Group to negotiate with Lysander?â
âYes, I did. I told you from the beginning. You were late, so it was a form of punishment.â Ethan admitted it without hesitation.
âItâs not just that, is it? Youâre Lysanderâs friend. You knew about me and himâ¦â
âYou and him⦠What?â Ethan asked, interrupting her. His puzzled eyes bore into her.
Thalassa hesitated, then said, âNothing.â
Ethan had used her relationship with Lysander to clinch the deal with the Sinclair Group.
She walked right into his trap. She couldnât voice out her relationship with Lysander since it wasnât public knowledge.
Even if she wanted to confront Ethan, she had no grounds to do so.
He could feign ignorance and leave her without a good rebuttal.
How could she tell him that she and Lysander were lovers?
âDonât be upset. I was giving you a chance to get closer to Lysander. Donât worry; it wonât happen again. Itâs our honor to have you in the Crawley Group. Just focus on your work and donât overthink things.â Ethan, noticing Thalassaâs anger, apologized with a smile, admitting his ulterior motives in sending her to the Sinclair Group.
The main reason was that he genuinely wanted Thalassa and Lysander to spend more time together.
Lysanderâs feelings for Thalassa were apparent to anyone with eyes.
