âElowen is wonderful, too!â Thalassa said with a warm smile.
âWeâre all wonderful!â Elowen chimed in with her babyish voice.
âYes, we certainly are,â Thalassa agreed, her admiration genuine.
Just then, there was a noise from the staircase.
Thalassa turned to see Lysander descending. He was dressed sharply in a suit, exuding a natural authority that made Thalassaâs heart tighten.
His gaze fell upon them, and Thalassa hurriedly looked away, her movements nervous.
Lysander moved to sit across from them, his eyes sweeping over the children and Thalassa before he picked up his cutlery and began to eat.
Even his simple act of eating breakfast seemed to radiate an air of elegance and nobility.
Thalassa looked down at her own breakfast. There was a fried egg and a large amount of oatmeal.
Compared to Lysanderâs casual elegance, she felt incredibly crude.
Their different upbringings had shaped their habits, and Thalassa had long accepted that reality.
After breakfast, it was time for the children to go to school.
Thalassa was about to take them when, unexpectedly, Lysander decided to join With four children and two adults, there was not enough space in one car.
The children took one car, while Thalassa and Lysander took another.
Thalassa had wanted to ride with the children, but the driver warned against overloading.
Reluctantly, she found herself sharing a car with Lysander.
As the car started, Lysanderâs penetrating gaze fell on her. âYou donât want to be here, do you?â
His intense gaze made her tense up.
âNo, not at all,â she replied, not daring to voice her true thoughts.
The day before, she had learned the consequences of provoking him. It was an experience she didnât want to repeat.
âDonât play games with me, understand?â Lysanderâs voice was cold.
Thalassa nodded. âUnderstood.â
Perhaps because she was being compliant, Lysander didnât say anything more.
But Thalassa was on edge. His presence made the atmosphere in the car oppressive, and she didnât dare relax.
Soon, they arrived at Starhaven International Kindergarten.
Thalassa quickly got out of the car, hugging the children before watching them enter the school.
She turned to leave, almost colliding with Lysander.
She lowered her head, intending to hail a cab.
But before she could, Lysander had her by the wrist, pulling her back into the car.
The familiar sense of oppression returned.
âI can get a cab, you know. I donât want to waste your time,â she said nervously âLike you havenât wasted enough of my time already?â Lysanderâs gaze was dark. âYouâve already spent much time in this car.â
His words took Thalassa by surprise. She glanced at the carâs interior. The black leather seat cover seemed to have been changed. It was still black- leather, but it looked newer.
âLysander, donât mess around. Itâs daytime.â Thalassaâs voice trailed off.
âSo, youâre saying itâs okay at night?â Lysander moved closer. His strong presence was overwhelming.
Thalassa felt the pressure build, his masculine energy making her breath hitch.
âI didnât say that,â she protested.
But before she could say anything more, Lysander had her chin in his hand. His gaze was piercing, and his breath was hot. âYour bodyâs telling me a different story.â
No, I⦠Thalassa began, but her words were cut off as Lysander silenced her with a kiss.
