Just when Thalassa felt as if she could bear no more, Lysanderâs icy voice broke the silence. âRegret is a luxury not everyone can afford. If you choose to run off with the money, then you have to pay the price!â
Thalassa was taken aback. Run off with the money?
Hadnât he just transferred the money to her without a word?
Before she could respond, Lysander continued in a cold tone, âFrom now on, you have no connection to the kids. This time was an exception. There wonât be a next time.â
With that, Lysander shifted his gaze towards the bodyguard waiting nearby.
The bodyguard immediately understood. He approached Thalassa and made a gesture, âMs. Everhart, your driver is waiting outside.â
A knot formed in Thalassaâs chest. She felt angry and wronged as she glared at Lysander.
It was he who unilaterally gave her a billion dollars to sever her ties with the children. How did that become her running off with the money?
He was clearly twisting the situation.
Thalassa was filled with bitterness. What hurt the most was that she wasnât going to be able to see her children anymore.
She had promised them that she would pick them up from school that afternoon.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she got up. Her voice trembled as she said to Lysander, âI didnât run off with the money. You know that better than anyone! Why do you insist on framing me? Iâm their mother.
They need me! How can you deny me my right to see them?â
She had already humbled herself to that extent, allowing him to manipulate her, begging for a chance to speak with him.
But he remained indifferent, intent on separating her from her children.
Thalassa couldnât bear it anymore, not because she wasnât scared or nervous. It was just that compared to her own fear, losing her children was even more terrifying.
The bodyguard was stunned; he was frozen in place. He thought, âThis Ms. Everhart, daring to yell in front of Lysander? She is definitely brave.â
Lysanderâs gaze was targeted at Thalassa like a sharp blade, making her shiver. Her body was covered in a cold sweat.
She clenched her teeth, trying to muster up her courage. Her clear eyes met his.
Lysander stood up. His towering presence cast a dark shadow over Thalassa. A suffocating pressure pressed down on her chest, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Lysander finally spoke, âElowen had to get stitches for a cut on her forehead. And Sophia is so thin.
You canât provide for the childrenâs talents or interests. You canât even take care of them properly. Are you sure they need you?â
Thalassa was being pressured by Lysanderâs sharp gaze. His words were like a sharp sword, ruthlessly stabbing into her heart.
Her breath hitched. It felt like something was suffocating her, making it a luxury to even breathe normally.
âWhat are you waiting for? Show her out!â Lysanderâs icy gaze shifted to the bodyguard.
The bodyguard jumped, quickly moving to escort Thalassa out. If she didnât leave, he would have been in trouble.
Thalassa pushed him away, âI can walk myself!â
Her eyes filled with tears, and she gave Lysander a resentful, pained, and restrained look before turning to leave.
The driver was waiting outside, opening the car door for Thalassa to get in.
Thalassa bit her lip, trying her best to hold back her tears. She bent over to get into the car, unable to hold back any longer, tears cascading down her cheeks.
