Thalassa stood her ground, gasping for breath, her captivating eyes meeting his with unyielding strength.
âSo, have you changed your mind after me giving birth to four of your kids? Are you going to marry me now?â Thalassa retorted.
Lysanderâs icy gaze turned colder, sharp as a knife.
Marry her?
Once upon a time, when he found out she was the woman who had saved him five years prior, he had considered marrying her.
It was only natural. She was his woman, after all, and marriage was the expected next step.
But then, not only did he find out she was Bruceâs daughter, but she was also doing exactly what his mother had done!
She was double-dealing and preparing to elope with Leopold with his assets!
His mother had done the same, taking the Sinclair familyâs money and planning to elope with Bruce, leading to his father chasing after them and getting his parents into a fatal car accident.
Such women were venomous scorpions.
âHeh, marry you? Donât flatter yourself. In this lifetime, you can forget about stepping into the Sinclair family!â Lysanderâs voice was cold and full of hatred.
His words were like a knife, stabbing directly into Thalassaâs heart.
Her breaths turned sharp, causing her pain.
âIf thatâs the case, Iâll find a young lover if I want to. Iâll marry whoever I want. Itâs none of your business.
Ah!â Thalassaâs words were cut off as her jaw was suddenly grabbed, causing her to wince in pain.
Lysanderâs handsome face was as cold and sharp as ice, his expression ominous as he asked, âWant to get married? Not on my watch! Didnât you remember anything I said? Seems like you need a lesson!â
Lysanderâs rage was ignited, and Thalassa barely managed to withstand it.
When she woke up again, it was already the following day.
She was lying on her side, her back against a hot, lean chest and muscular arms holding her.
Above her, she could still hear the manâs deep breathing.
As soon as Thalassa regained consciousness, her body tensed.
She was being held by Lysander like a rag doll, unable to move.
That position, on the surface, seemed sweet and warm, but only she knew how heartbreaking and dangerous it was.
She tried to move her legs, intending to get up.
But as soon as she moved, the pain in her waist and legs flared up, causing her to gasp.
Lysanderâs anger the previous day had been too fierce. If her body was any weaker, she might not have survived.
The hot male breath behind her was like a wild beastâs, dangerous and deadly to Thalassa.
She cautiously moved her body, trying to get up.
Just as she was about to succeed, the arm around her tightened and pulled her back.
âWhere do you think youâre going?â A low, sleepy male voice sounded.
Thalassaâs nerves immediately tensed, âIâm going to take a shower.â
âSleep a little longer. Weâll go together,â Lysander said, his hot breath tickling her nape.
Thalassa, ticklish, shrunk her neck but didnât move anymore, her body rigid. She carefully chose her words, âIf I promise to be a good woman to you, will you let me see our kids?
She had said those things the previous night to provoke him, to test if he still had that crazed possessiveness over her.
She was using her life to negotiate benefits for herself.
Lysander opened his previously closed eyes, looking down at her, âWhat makes you think you can negotiate with me?â
âIâm the mother of our children, I raised them. Theyâve never been without me since birth. They need their mother, and I canât be without them. You lost your parents when you were young. You wouldnât want your kids to grow up without a motherâs love, would you?â
Thalassa gathered her courage, giving her reasons for wanting to see the kids, hoping to evoke his empathy.
Empathy could soften hearts.
But that method was risky.
If she wasnât careful, she could have ended up getting hurt again.
As soon as she finished speaking, the gaze from above turned even colder, her scalp tingling under his intense scrutiny.
