She was definitely tempting me. Lysander thought.
A ripple coursed through Lysanderâs heart, his breath hitching momentarily.
Realization struck him the next second. What did she think of him?
Was she attempting to take advantage of him?
His eyes instantly assumed a frosty demeanor as he turned to gaze at the woman who was so close to him. Her eyes were closed; her long lashes cast a shadow on her oval face which was flushed from the alcohol.
Her lips were slightly parted, revealing a hint of pearly white teeth, her breath tinged with the scent of the wine.
An invisible temptation.
Lysanderâs throat constricted. âDamn it!â, his gaze darkening as he muttered a curse under his breath.
With a swift click, he fastened her seat belt, got up, and closed the passenger door.
As he was about to head towards the driverâs seat, Alaric came bounding over. His eyes were filled with curiosity and confusion.
âLysander, why are Herthaâs kids calling you dad? Whatâs going on?â He asked.
Lysander threw him a glance, his deep voice ringing out, âHave you lost your brains from hanging out with Hertha for too long?â
With that, he walked over to the driverâs seat, got in the car, started the engine and drove off into the night.
As Alaric was standing there and staring after the retreating car, confusion etched on his face.
Suddenly, a realization dawned upon him.
The quadruplets were Lysander and Thalassaâs!
So Hertha was merely a cover for Thalassa to hide her children?
âThalassa!â At that moment, Hertha finally managed to shake off the bodyguard and ran out.
She called out, but there was no sign of Lysander and Thalassa.
Looking around, she headed towards Alaric, asking âWhere are Lysander and Thalassa?â
âTheyâve driven off with their four kids.â He watched her with his mischievous, long eyes, a hint of suspicion rose in his gaze.
âLysander brought the kids too? Thatâs good then. Thalassa just wanted to see the kids âUpon hearing Alaricâs words, Herthaâs worry was relieved and she even felt happy for Thalassa.
She had brought Thalassa to the bar to take her mind off things just because Thalassa was missing her children and feeling down.
Now, things were looking up. Thalassa finally got to see her children.
Alaricâs mouth curved into a playful smile, âYouâre quite the secret keeper, arenât you? Arenât you afraid of Lysander wiping you out?â
Hertha realized that Alaric knew the children were Thalassaâs and Lysanderâs. He knew that she had only claimed they were hers to protect Thalassa.
She held her chin up proudly and righteously. âIs it wrong to help my best friend? Besides, itâs Lysanderâs fault. If he was responsible, would he have left Thalassa to raise four kids alone for four years?â
âKeep talking. Iâll record everything. When I have some free time, Iâll let Lysander listen to it. If you can still talk tough then. Iâll be impressed.â Alaric pretended to take out his phone to record her.
Hertha panicked. Without giving much thought, she scurried over and reached for his phone.
She definitely didnât dare to provoke that devil. Even talking behind his back required a lot of courage. If Lysander heard about this, she would be so screwed.
âDonât record it, give me your phone,â Hertha ran forward, reaching out to grab it.
Alaric raised his hand out of her reach.
In her haste, Hertha ran into him.
Her chest collided with his body, causing her heart to race. She gazed up at Alaric, her eyes wide.
Alaric too, felt the softness of her chest against his.
His eyes, filled with mischief, met Herthaâs.
His damn captivating eyes made Herthaâs heart pound uncontrollably.
She took a few deep breaths, looked up at Alaric and said, âNow that you know Iâm not a mother, can you date me?â
