His eyes were long and narrow with the corners slightly upturned, full of charm and allure. His looks were so captivating that one could not look away.
âAlaric!â Hertha cried out with excitement.
At her most vulnerable, the man she loved descended like a knight in shining armor.
In Herthaâs eyes, Alaric seemed to be glowing. He lit up her world and ignited her heart.
Alaric spared Hertha only a glance, his icy gaze landing on the young man. âI gave you a chance earlier,â he growled, âYou didnât take it. Itâs time you learned your place!â
The young man was the one who had been making advances on Thalassa earlier.
He prepared to lash out, but shrank back in fear once he recognized Alaric.
He kept bowing and apologizing profusely, âIâm sorry, Mr. Falconer. I didnât know who she was. Iâll disappear right now and you wonât see me againâ¦â
âOut!â Alaric growled.
The young man scampered away, tripping over himself in his haste.
âAlaric, youâre so cool,â Hertha sighed dreamily, her hands under her chin as she watched him.
She had been smitten with Alaric from their first meeting, and now that he had come to her rescue, her admiration only intensified.
Her eyes sparkled with admiration; her heart completely captivated by him.
Alaric glanced back at Hertha, a smirk playing at the corner of his lips at her adoring expression, âIâve never seen a woman drooling over men that much.â he sneered, âYou really like this kind of man?â
Hertha had been quite forward with him earlier and even dared to touch his abs. That had left him, a seasoned bachelor, blushing.
It seemed that when women became enamored, men became irrelevant.
Hertha blinked, her round eyes wide as she took in Alaricâs scornful expression.
She quickly understood what he meant.
âNo, itâs not like that! He was trying to take advantage of meâ¦â she exclaimed in a rush.
âEarlier, your friend Thalassa was taking advantage of someone. A single woman acting as a mother, a mother lusting after a man. You two are quite the pair,â Alaric chuckled.
Hertha looked shocked, as if she had just heard some incredible news. She was both surprised and excited.
Thalassa did well. That brat hasnât even grown a full beard yet and heâs acting like a pervert! I hope he runs into someone whoâll teach him a lesson!â Hertha said indignantly.
Thalassa, who had followed, overheard Alaricâs words. He thought Hertha was the mother of quadruplets.
She shook her head, holding up a finger, âAlaric, actually, Hertha isnâtâ¦â
âIsnât what?â Alaric asked.
âShe isnâtâ¦â
Just as Thalassa was about to speak, a commotion at the entrance of the bar broke out, giving the impression of an invasion. The atmosphere became tense.
The air seemed to ripple.
One of the more observant waiters called out, âMr. Sinclair is here, quick, get the boss!â
Thalassa followed the crowdâs gaze to the entrance.
A tall man, surrounded by bodyguards, walked in with an icy aura.
He was dressed in a black shirt and black trousers. His handsome face was stern, his aura intimidating.
As he passed, it felt as though the air itself would freeze.
The previously lively bar became silent in an instant; the music stopped, and the restless patrons were hurriedly evacuated through the back door by the staff and security.
The bar owner rushed over, bowing and scraping, with a fearful smile on his face.
âMr. Sinclair, youâre here. What would you like to drink? Iâll get it for you right away.â He asked.
