Sophia was sleeping face down; one side of her face squished out of shape. Her lips were pouted as she breathed in sleep. She was as adorable as a dough and she melted oneâs heart with her cuteness.
Atticus was sleeping neatly, flat on his back, his hands resting on his little belly.
Thalassa gently moved his hands down and placed them by his sides on the bed.
Dorian was sleeping at the foot of the bed. Suddenly, he smacked his lips and rolled over, his little body flipping like a fish out of water.
Thalassa thought he had woken up, but when she saw him snuggle up against her thigh and continue sleeping soundly, she realized he was just a restless sleeper.
As the four little angels surrounded her, their sweet baby smell was engulfing her. They melted her heart and filled her with a profound sense of happiness. She didnât want to leave them.
But a brief separation was a small price to pay for a long future together.
Despite her reluctance, Thalassa had to leave.
She leaned over each child, planting a soft kiss on their cheek, and tugged at the corners of her mouth in a sweet smile.
With one last longing look, she steeled herself, got up, and walked out of the room.
In the living room, Evelyn sat on the couch, her face stern, âDid you go to see Lysander or did he come to see you last night?â
Thalassa paused, walked over to sit beside Evelyn; her hands folded in her lap, her expression sincere and serious, âMom, Iâll find a way to sort this out.â
âAnd how long do you think itâll take?â Evelyn asked sternly.
Thalassa didnât know. Her gaze was filled with melancholy and helplessness as she met Evelynâs eyes.
Evelyn sighed heavily and looked away, âJust go. Lysander is a handsome man with a great body.
Youâre not losing anything by being with him. Enjoy your youth. Once youâre older, men wonât look at you the same way.â
Before, Evelyn was against Thalassa dating Lysander because they had no future. Lysander was only interested in her physical appearance, not her family background.
Their ordinary family couldnât measure up to Lysanderâs wealthy one. She thought Thalassa would get hurt.
But things had changed, and they were all beyond her control. They couldnât fight against the wealthy.
After much thought, Evelyn decided to accept the situation. After all, it was a time of gender equality.
There was no such thing as losing or gaining in a relationship. She couldnât have Thalassa live alone for all her life just like her. If there was a man who wanted to date her, even if there was no future, the process of dating was still enjoyable.
Hertha was right about enjoying the present.
Lysander was handsome, well-built, and masculine. Thalassa had struck gold. She wasnât at a loss.
Having had this experience in life, she would have no regrets when she looked back in old age.
Evelynâs sudden change of heart left Thalassa in disbelief.
When had her mother become so progressive?
She was prepared for a lecture, but instead, her mother was giving her the freedom to be herself, âMom, Iâll handle it, I promise.â Thalassa tried to explain, thinking her mother was being sarcastic.
âYou donât need to worry, I mean what I say. If you want to date, then date. Lysander is a good man to date.â With that, Evelyn got up and walked into the kidsâ room.
