Alaric was a womanizer. But it was his first time being flirted with by a woman.
He felt as if his masculine dignity was crumbling to dust.
Alaricâs disdain and prejudice hit Hertha like a sharp needle. She felt a pang in her heart.
But she quickly gathered her composure, lifted her chin and looked him in the eye. She admitted it outright, âYes, the wildcat is now scratching you with its claws.
So what?â
âYouâ¦â Alaric, a playboy who had charmed countless women, was left speechless by Herthaâs brazenness.
Stewing in his annoyance, he was unable to refute her confidence and candor.
Frustrated, he huffed, âIâm a dream youâll never attain! Go home and sleep; youâll have everything you want in your dreams!â
With that, he stormed off.
He was planning to take the elevator but realized this was a walk-upâbuilding with no elevator in sight.
âWhat a lousy neighborhood? I canât even find an elevator.â He complained.
With that, he quickly headed towards the stairs.
Hertha watched his retreating figure, snorted, and stuck out her tongue..
A dream Iâll never attain, huh? Just watch me! She thought.
Inside the apartment.
Thalassa was hiding in the closet when Lysander found her. She was overwhelmed with embarrassment; her head hung low, and she was not knowing what to do with her hands.
Lysanderâs large hand cupped her chin, lifting her face to meet his gaze. His other hand rested on her slim waist, pulling her closer.
Their bodies were tight against each other; their lips were so close that a slight movement would result in a kiss. Thalassa could feel his hot breath on her face, and she felt a strong sense of insecurity.
Thalassa held her breath, her body tense and nervous, âMr. Sinclair, donât do this in Herthaâs placeâ¦â
The memory of his wildness from the night before was still fresh in her mind, and her muscle moves were still carrying that memory.
Her body seemed to still carry his warmth too.
She hadnât yet recovered, and he was already being so domineering.
Thalassa couldnât handle it anymore.
âWhy are you hiding from me, huh?â Lysanderâs voice was icy cold; his voice went up, hinting at his rage.
Thalassa was startled. Right, what was she hiding from?
Since they already agreed this was Herthaâs place, it was perfectly normal for her to be at her friendâs house.
Why should she hide?
Thalassa suddenly understood. She was regretful for her foolish behavior.
âIâm afraid youâll catch me playing hooky.â She said.
âWho taught you to play hooky?â Lysander fixed her with an oppressive stare, his voice low and cold.
Thalassa was flustered. She stammered, âI⦠I had a-headache and wasnât feeling well, thought Iâd take a day off. I havenât had a chance to ask David for leave yet. Let me go, Iâll call David right now.â
Her direct superior was David.
Lysander lifted her chin slightly, his deep eyes focused on her forehead, âThe scab has turned black so itâll be healed in a few days.â
âYes, it will heal in a few days, but I also have a concussionâ¦â Last night, he hadnât considered that if her concussion was so serious that it could cost heclife.
