Hertha glanced at Thalassa in a sudden panic, pulling faces and flailing her arms about, completely losing her composure.
The sudden intrusion had caught them off guard, leaving them in a flurry of confusion.
Thalassa rushed towards the door and was intended to leave..
Thatâs when Hertha heard Alaricâs voice over the phone, âOpen up!â
Open up?
They were already at the door?
Thalassa stopped dead in her tracks just as she reached the door.
She stared wide-eyed at the door, behind which stood Lysander.
She was just a doorstep away from him.
The thought made Thalassaâs heart pound wildly. She hurried back into the room.
Hertha paced around in distress for a moment. When she saw Thalassa scuttle into the room, she quickly grabbed the phone, âIâve just woken up and Iâm getting dressed. Wait a moment, Iâll be ready soon.â
With that, she hung up and followed Thalassa into the room.
The two of them jostled at the doorway, taking a great effort to squeeze into the room.
Thalassa was preparing to hide in a closet, but found that Hertha had beat her to it, pulling it open and slipping inside.
Thalassa looked baffled. âHertha, why are you hiding? This is your house and you should be welcoming your guests.â She said.
Hertha blinked and suddenly realized something, âOh, right, why am I hiding?â
Her subconscious made her believe this was Thalassaâs home and that the intimidating Lysander should be Thalassaâs problem to deal with.
She had forgotten what she had just said on the phone.
Lysander was here to see Elowenâs guardian, and on the information form, Hertha was listed as Elowenâs guardian.
Hertha quickly came out of the closet and let Thalassa hide inside instead.
As the closet door closed, Thalassa gave Hertha a thumbs up to encourage her.
Hertha took a deep breath, gathering her courage and nodding firmly.
Alright, I can do this! She said to herself.
She strutted out of the room and noticed a teddy bear on the couch and a toy gun, likely a boyâs plaything, on the table.
Baby bottles and childrenâs dishes were there too.
Hertha scrambled to hide the toys and bottles.
As she was about to put a baby bottle in the fridge, she suddenly froze; a lightbulb moment dawning upon her.
Why was she hiding the childrenâs items?
This was her house and she was supposed to be the mother of four kids; childrenâs items around were perfectly normal!
Hertha felt foolish realizing what she had done.
She put the baby bottle in the fridge, slapped her forehead, and walked to the door.
Before opening the door, she took a deep breath; she patted her face to relax, and forced a smile. Then she opened the door.
As the door opened, a wave of cold, chilling air filled the room.
Lysander stood in the doorway, dressed in a bespoke black suit. He was tall and lean, his presence commanding, his demeanor dignified. His face was extraordinarily handsome, strikingly attractive at just one glance.
Next to him stood Alaric.
