âElowen knows Lysander?â Thalassa thought, feeling a sense of confusion.
Earlier on, Atticus and Dorian had questioned her about Lysander from the Sinclair Group. They had asked if he was their father, and at the time, Thalassa had denied it, not fully understanding the situation. But now, she wondered if the children had sensed something. Was Elowen also suspecting that Lysander was her father?
A wave of anxiety washed over her as she imagined Elowen confronting Lysander with the question.
However, to her surprise, Lysander reacted calmly, reaching out to gently pat Elowenâs head and saying, âYou did great.â
His hand met the soft warmth of her hair, a sensation he found oddly comforting. Lysander was not typically fond of children, but he found himself drawn to Elowen. She was adorable in a way that stirred a sense of affection within him.
He had met her before in Hollowbrook, and another time he almost hit her with his car when she was in the middle of the street retrieving a ball. As the daughter of Thalassaâs close friend, her presence in Hollowbrook was not surprising.
Elowenâs face lit up at Lysanderâs praise, her smile radiant. âThank you, sir. Youâre great too!â
After a series of photos were taken, Lysander returned to his judgeâs seat, and the gourmet competition was concluded. As Elowenâs mother, Hertha guided her off stage.
âYou were amazing, darling. You won the $20,000 prize!â Hertha gushed, playfully ruffling Elowenâs hair. Thalassa watched them, a smile spreading across her face, before leaving the arena with Lysander.
As Lysander settled into his car, Thalassa stood respectfully at a distance, planning to hail a taxi to the office. However, Lysanderâs gaze turned to her, his eyes dark and intense. âDo you need a lift?â
Startled, Thalassa quickly climbed into the car. The drive to the Sinclair Group was tense, with Thalassa sitting rigidly next to Lysander, careful not to upset him. Once at the Sinclair Group, Lysander exited the car first, followed by Thalassa. They rode the elevator together up to the executive floor, where David, Lysanderâs assistant, directed Thalassa to join them in Lysanderâs office for a debriefing on the gourmet competition.
Stepping into the office, Thalassa was immediately struck by the stern atmosphere, Zephyr, dressed in a sharp teal suit, was seated on a couch in the office lounge. His hawk-like gaze was fixed on them.
Thalassa felt a twinge of unease at his stern expression and was about to excuse herself when Zephyr spoke.
âMs. Everhart, please take a seat,â he commanded, his voice echoing in the room.
