Zephyr was evidently in a foul mood.
Charlotte held up the gift in her hand and said with a friendly smile, âGrandpa Zephyr, itâs me, Charlotte.
I brought you a gift, some finest Earl Grey tea.â
UponWhen Zephyr hearingd it was Charlotte, Zephyrâhis stern expression softened into a welcoming smile. âAh, Charlotte, youâre trying a new look today, I almost didnât recognize youâ¦â
He had almost thought it was Thalassa.
But he stopped before he could voice this thought, offering a considerate glance towards Lysander before accepting the gift from Charlotte. âYour style has changed so much,. I almost didnât recognize you. Come, sit.â
Charlotte, still smiling, took a seat beside Lysander.
As soon as she sat down, Lysander stood and went to sit next to Grandma Sybil.
Charlotteâs smile faltered, her hand resting on the table clenched slightly.
On Grandma Sybilâs left was Leopold, and on her right was Lysander.
Zephyr was forced to take the seat next to Charlotte, h. His usual spot was taken by the younger generation.
Before they began their meal, Zephyr declared the highlight of the family feast. âIn the Sinclair family, it has always been the tradition to honor our parentsâ wishes and marry within the family. Your grandmother and I did just that, and weâve had a wonderful life together. You two will be no different.â
âBut Grandpaâ¦â Leopold tried to protest.
Zephyr cut him off. âCharlotte is here today, and her grandfather and I made a promise years ago to arrange a marriage between her and Lysander. Itâs about time we fulfilled that promise.â
This statement, while directed at Leopold, was clearly meant for Lysander.
Leopold was overjoyed by this news and shot a quick glance at Lysander.
Lysanderâs hand tightened around his fork.
Zephyr continued, âLysander, why donât you serve Charlotte some food? Itâs important for a man to take care of a woman.â
Lysander immediately put his fork down. âIâm full. You allJust continue without me.â
With that, he stood up and hurriedly left the room.
âThat boyâ¦â Grandma Sybil sighed softly.
Zephyrâs expression darkened, but there was nothing he could say. Lysander had always been independent and n. Now that he was coming into his own, there was little the family could do to control him.
Thalassa was at home, half asleep, when her phone rang.
She picked up the phone and mumbled a sleepy, âHello?â
âOpen the door!â came a commanding male voice from the other side of the line.
It was a voice that brooked no argument.
âOkay,â Thalassa replied almost automatically, before her sleep-fogged mind identified the voice.
She bolted upright, adrenaline flooding her system.
Oh my God, it was Lysander!
He was asking her to open the door.
He was outside her house?!
This couldnât be happening!
What was she supposed to do?
