âThalassa, donât try to dissuade me. Life is unbearable without you.â Leopoldâs trembling voice echoed in the phone, the sound of suppressed sobbing making it all the more heartbreaking.
His despair and anguish were palpable, bringing tears to Thalassaâs eyes and a sharp pain in her chest. She could feel his pain and hopelessness.
Two people, who were supposed to be in love, were now forced to part ways and become strangers.
Powerless, desperate and yet helpless.
Thalassa urgently asked with a shaky voice, âIsabella, which road are you on? Iâm coming right away.â
Isabella, with tears streaming down her face, told Thalassa the location. She was not yet ready to join the high society, she didnât want to die, and she didnât want to lose her life in such a dreadful manner.
There was still a beautiful life waiting for her, and she didnât want to be blown to pieces. She was scared, terrified of leaving this world in such a grisly manner with Leopold.
Knowing their location, Thalassa made a sudden turn and sped towards that road. It wasnât far, just around the corner. As soon as she made the turn, she would reach them.
Time was of the essence, there was no room for second thoughts. Ignoring the red light, Thalassa speedily maneuvered her car, narrowly missing another car. In this moment of urgency, her driving skills seemed to improve.
Just as she was about to collide with the car in front, she swiftly turned the wheel, avoiding collision and overtaking the other car. She reached the road mentioned by Isabella where many cars had already stopped. People were standing by the road, discussing the situation in hushed tones of astonishment.
âThereâs a car on fire ahead, itâs still speeding, itâs like they have a death wish.â
âWe should wait here. We donât want to get involved and risk our lives.â
âThe young people these days are driving recklessly.ââ
Hearing their discussions, Thalassa knew it was Leopoldâs car. Looking at the direction where cars had stopped, she guessed where Leopoldâs car might have headed.
A middle-aged man, seeing her car heading in that direction, warned, âMiss, you should stop. Thereâs a reckless driver ahead. If thereâs an explosion, you could be in dangerâ¦â
Before he could finish his sentence, Thalassa had hit the gas pedal and sped off in the direction they had pointed. She was racing against time and death.
Her heart was pounding as she drove at a breakneck speed. She had to be faster to reach Leopold before his car exploded. She held the steering wheel tightly, her body rigid, her nerves on edge.
Finally, she saw the car in the distance, its tail on fire. The silver Porsche, with its roaring flames, was like a ticking bomb on the road, ready to explode any moment. Thalassa saw the car and her heart clenched even tighter. She drove faster, honking the horn to alert the car ahead to stop.
Meanwhile, Leopold, overcome with grief and pain, was determined to die with Isabella. His eyes were red, his face a mask of sorrow and anger.
