In the living room, only Thalassa and Hertha remained.
Herthaâs round eyes were filled with excitement as she pulled a chair next to Thalassa. With a jittery smile, she asked her, âDid you really smash Lysanders artifact?â
Thalassa nodded, her energy drained.
Hertha was flabbergasted, âOh my gosh, Thalassa, Iâm seriously in awe of you. After all this, Lysander hasnât done anything to you. He must really adore you.â
Hertha was known for her dirty jokes.
Thalassa blushed at the comment, averting her gaze. She felt slightly embarrassed and guilty.
Seeing her blush, Hertha, as an adult, immediately understood. She gasped in surprise, âDonât tell me you and Lysander have already, um?â
Before she could finish, Thalassa immediately covered her mouth. Glancing at the closed door, she whispered, âKeep it down.â
Even though Evelyn was usually very strict with Thalassa, deep down, she loved her. If she found out Thalassa was being bullied, Evelyn would undoubtedly confront the culprit without a second thought.
And that culprit was Lysander.
Lysander was the king of Starhaven. Who could possibly stand against him?
Hertha quickly nodded, signaling that she understood.
Thalassa then let go of her mouth.
Hertha leaned in closer. Curiosity and surprise were etched on her face, âDid Lysander gift you that BMW?â
Thalassa nodded and whispered, âI initially returned it, but he forced it on me. Donât tell my mom. She thinks itâs a company car, and that I work at Leossa Tech.â
Hertha understood, and exclaimed in awe, âLysander really treats you well. He forced upon you a million-dollar car. He really treasures you.â
Thalassa felt embarrassed and helpless, âStop teasing me.â
Hertha slung an arm around Thalassaâs shoulder, smiling, âYou should enjoy life while you can. Donât worry about the outcome if there isnât one yet. Lysanderâs handsome and fit, and heâs at the top of the pyramid. His body is even better than a supermodelâs. Other women pay to see and touch supermodels, but youâre desired by a top-tier man. You get to admire Lysanderâs handsome face daily, and touch his washboard abs that others can only dream of. Isnât that great?â Although that was the case, her relationship with Lysander was not that simple.
If he was just attracted to her and wanted her to be his woman, things wouldnât be so complicated.
The problem was, with the appearance of Bruce, Lysander found out that she was Bruceâs daughter.
He couldnât forgive the daughter of a man who caused his parentsâ death.
He kept her by his side, solely to vent his resentment.
Thalassa couldnât share this with Hertha.
âItâs getting late, Hertha. Would you like to rest home or stay here?â Thalassa changed the subject.
âI should head back. My parents havenât seen me in a few days. They must be worried.â Hertha stood up.
Thalassa walked her to the door.
Meanwhile, in the childrenâs room.
The dark night was bathed in a gentle moonlight, the room dimly lit. Two adorable children sat there, their innocent dark eyes shimmering in the night, smart and cute.
Dorian leaned towards Atticus, whispering, âMom owes Lysander 100 million dollars. Sheâs really troubled.â
Atticusâ young face scrunched in worry. He was concerned for his mom.
âWe need to help her, otherwise sheâll go to jail, Atticus said, seemingly wise beyond his years.
He had overheard Thalassa, Evelyn, and Herthaâs conversation earlier.
Lysander was keeping Mom from coming home, and if she didnât comply, Lysander would demand 100 million dollars in compensation. If Mom couldnât pay, sheâd go to jail.
Even though Atticus was young, he knew what jail meant.
