Thalassaâs lips curled up slightly as her gaze landed on Leopold. âYou seem to know him well.â
âOf course, heâs only three years older than me. Weâve been growing up together. Heâs quite cold, especially with women, but thatâs all linked with his childhood,â answered Leopold confidently.
He wanted to spend more time with Thalassa, but needed to find a topic to keep the conversation going.
Otherwise, Thalassa might leave soon.
Knowing that Thalassa didnât want to hear his apologies anymore, Leopold steered the conversation towards Lysander.
Because Lysander was Thalassaâs boss.
He dissected Lysanderâs personality for her, so she could avoid stepping on landmines at work.
Thalassa should be interested in this topic.
âHis childhood? What do you mean?â Thalassa asked.
Leopold explained to Thalassa in detail about Lysanderâs parents.
Lysanderâs mother abandoned her husband and son to elope with another man. Despite her husbandâs attempts to stop her, she drove away, causing Lysanderâs father to give chase in emotional turmoil.
Then both of them died in a car accident.
From then on, Lysander became an orphan.
Thalassa was shocked upon hearing this.
Lysander, who seemed to have a carefree life, had such a miserable childhood.
Thalassa asked curiously, âThen the Sinclairs must hate that man, right?â
Leopold nodded, âEspecially Lysander. He hates that man to the bone. If he sees him again, Lysander would definitely throw a punch.â
âWas Lysander raised by your grandparents then?â Thalassa asked again.
âYes,â Leopold, replied.
After answering, he suddenly realized that Thalassa seemed overly concerned about Lysander.
He asked in a fluster, âThalassa, you said you had a boyfriend last time. Were you lying to me?â
His amber eyes, though seemingly gentle, were filled with worry, tension, and doubt.
He remembered that there was a bite mark on Thalassaâs neck last time. He got nervous when he saw it and asked her if she had a boyfriend, to which she confirmed.
He was so heartbroken that he couldnât sleep well for days.
But, when he looked for Thalassa twice, she was at home and not out on dates.
He regained hope, thinking that she had lied about having a boyfriend to fool him.
But now, seeing how much she cared about Lysander, he felt uneasy.
âYouâre overthinking. I didnât lie to you. Once the clothes are dry, Iâll call you to deliver them. You donât have to make the trip yourself,â Thalassaâs tone was calm, without any fluctuation. After saying this, she got out of the car and walked briskly towards the residential area.
Leopold didnât follow her, sitting in the car watching her retreating figure, his eyes filled with sadness.
On Monday, Thalassa went to the office early.
She drove her purple-blue BMW.
Thalassa parked the car in the underground garage, and then she went to the top floor of the building.
She made a point of going to the CEOâs office, but found that Lysander hadnât arrived yet.
So, she sat down in the secretaryâs office, dealing with work while waiting for him.
Around ten, Lysander finally arrived.
Thalassa brought a cup of coffee to the CEOâs office and placed it in front of him.
Lysander was reading documents with his head down.
Thalassa stood in front of the desk. Looking at his perfectly sculpted face, she recalled what Leopold had told her yesterday.
