âThalassa, I gotta warn you, this guy has no moral compass whatsoever. You canât let him fool you,â
Evelyn cautioned Thalassa.
She had planned to have a serious chat with Bruce and give him a piece of her mind.
But she didnât expect his shamelessness to exceed her wildest imagination.
The old fart actually dared to try something on her.
She pushed him away with all her might and he resisted!
This kind of man was nothing but societal trash, complete garbage!
Thalassa replied to Evelyn, âMom, I get it.â
âAlright, letâs eat. After dinner, get some rest. You worked late last night and have to take the kids out today. You must be tired,â Evelyn said.
âMhm, mom, you eat too, Thalassa nodded.
She lowered her head to eat noodles, but her heart tasted bitter.
When she was little, she saw other kids being pampered by their fathers and she too wished for a fatherâs love.
But the harsh reality shattered all her beautiful illusions of her father.
She didnât expect her father to be such a man.
Men truly were no good.
When she was young, she believed in love, only to be betrayed by Leopold Sinclair.
Later, she thought she could stay with the father of her children out of responsibility.
But the father of her children didnât want to marry her at all.
He didnât like kids and even had a fiancée.
In his eyes, she was probably just a toy to play with!
She and her mother were so unlucky, encountering such men after more than twenty years.
After finishing the pizza, Evelyn lay down next to the kids and went to sleep.
Meeting Bruce today made her so angry her stomach hurt, stirring up unbearable memories of over twenty years ago.
Evelyn had no mood to play poker anymore, better to get some rest and sleep.
Thalassa was also exhausted. She took a bath and hand washed her new skirt to make sure it was spotless. Then she dried it with a hairdryer and even ironed it.
She planned to bring the skirt to the office on Monday to return it to Lysander.
Before she could finish ironing, her phone rang.
Seeing the name on the screen, she answered unhappily, âWhat now?â
Leopold was so annoying. He always called her at night!
And he always called after she had finished her bath and changed into her pajamas.
âI miss you,â Leopold drawled lazily, sounding a bit whiny.
This gave Thalassa goosebumps, âLeopold, are you sick or something?â
âYes, Iâm sick. And itâs all because of you,â Leopold admitted.
This left Thalassa speechless. âWhat does your illness have to do with me? If youâre sick, go to the hospital. What are you calling me for?â
âBecause Iâm sick with missing you and only you can cure it,â Leopoldâs deep voice was thick with emotion.
Sheâd heard enough sweet nothings during her college years.
Back then, she was completely charmed by Leopoldâs sweet words.
Looking back now, she felt ridiculous.
It was undoubtedly due to her being young and naïve.
The more sweet nothings a man said, the poorer his character!
Just like her father, his character was also extremely poor.
Thalassa was now immune to such sweet nothings. She said coldly, âIf you donât have anything else to say, Iâm hanging up now!â
