Thalassa parked her car and hurried into the lobby.
It was just past eight and some change. Work didnât start until nine, so she wasnât late.
âMs. Everhart,â Cherry, the receptionist, called out to her as she passed the lobby.
Thalassa paused. She looked back but didnât say anything.
Cherry walked up to Thalassa with an apologetic look. âMs. Everhart, Iâm so sorry. I had no idea what was happening yesterday. Otherwise, I wouldâve never invited you to dinner. I was duped too.â
Cherry was genuinely sorry.
Having spent some time together, Thalassa had a good grasp of what Cherry was like: she wasnât into cliques. She didnât spread rumors nor look down on others. She was a young woman with a strong moral compass.
Thalassa believed Cherry was indeed tricked.
âNo worries, I donât blame you. Donât beat yourself up. Just focus on your work,â Thalassa said.
Cherryâs guilty expression instantly disappeared, and she flashed a smile. âThank you, Ms. Everhart. I promise Iâll help solve problems for you in the future.â
Then Cherry happily returned to her post, her previously serious face lightened up immediately.
Thalassa was satisfied, and she stepped into the elevator.
For the entire morning. Thalassa stayed in the secretaryâs office, refusing to enter the CEOâs office unless Lysander called for her.
This way, she could avoid facing him and reduce the psychological pressure.
In the lobby, at the reception desk.
Charlotte came looking for Lysander again.
Cherry recognized her. She was here yesterday, claiming to be an old friend of Lysanderâs.
Thalassa also gave her permission to go up.
To lighten Thalassaâs workload and not disturb her, Cherry let Charlotte go up directly.
This was Cherryâs small contribution in helping Thalassa out.
Dressed to the nines, Charlotte sauntered into the elevator and knocked on the door of the CEOâs office.
After getting permission, she walked in. Her steps became softer, exuding feminine charm.
âMr. Lysander, itâs almost noon. I came specifically to invite you to lunch,â Charlotte said softly, sitting down in the chair opposite his desk.
Lysander just signed a contract. He put it in a folder and glanced at her.
He knew that it was his grandfather, Zephyr, pulling strings for her to have her around him.
And he couldnât disrespect his grandfatherâs wishes.
His words were cold, âI donât have time. Find someone else.â
After saying that, he picked up another contract and began to read.
The hopeful look in Charlotteâs eyes dimmed a little, but she didnât get discouraged. She smiled and said, âMr. Lysander, I happened to see Ms. Everhart and Leopold at a restaurant yesterday. They seemed quite close. Is Leopold getting married soon?â
Lysander lifted his eyes, his gaze icy.
Charlotte felt a bit uneasy under his stare, subconsciously nervous.
But she tried to steady herself. She took out her phone and opened the photo she took yesterday.
She pointed her phone screen at Lysander. âIâm telling the truth. I was curious when I saw them, so I took a sneaky picture. Take a look.â
Lysanderâs deep gaze swept over the phone screen.
Though the photo only captured their backs. It was obvious at first glance that it was Leopold and Thalassa.
Leopoldâs hand was on Thalassaâs shoulder, his face almost touching Thalassaâs cheek.
Their actions were so intimate and they were walking away together.
Lysanderâs body was instantly surrounded by a chill, his eyes filled with frost, and the surrounding air pressure dropped to an extreme low.
