Thalassa was about to melt with softness inside.
She just wanted to fly back immediately to her little darlings.
She called David and asked, âHas Mr. Sinclair knocked off?â
âMr. Sinclair left ages ago. Didnât you know?â David answered.
âOh, I was so engrossed in reading my documents that I lost track of time and didnât notice. Mr. Sinclair left, huh? Thatâs good then. Bye.â
As soon as she found out that Lysander had long left the company. Thalassa finally felt relieved. She shouldered her bag and left.
When she got to the lobby, the receptionist Cherry suddenly stopped her. âThalassa, the cleaning department is having a dinner tonight. Director Noreen asked me to invite you along.â
âIâm not really comfortable with dinner parties. Please thank Director Noreen for me, but Iâll pass.â She was in a hurry to get back to her four adorable little darlings.
Cherry said, âDirector Noreen said that if you donât go, itâll be like youâre looking down on her.â
Thalassa was speechless. What did this have to do with looking down on someone?
This was just forcing her to attend the party.
But on second thought, she used to be a cleaner and suddenly became the personal assistant to the CEO. If she didnât go, people would definitely think sheâs aloof and looked down on her former colleagues.
Thalassa definitely didnât think like that. To avoid being misunderstood, Thalassa had to agree. âAlright then, whereâs the dinner?â
âAt a restaurant. I forgot the name, but Iâll go with you.â Cherry said.
Thalassa took a taxi with her to a fancy Japanese restaurant.
In the private room, there were Daryl, director Noreen, and a few other cleaning staff. But, the woman in designer clothes sitting on the outermost seat was the most eye-catching.
It was Charlotte!
When Charlotte saw Thalassa, she just gave a faint smile and didnât say anything.
Director Noreen enthusiastically said, âThalassa, come sit over here. Youâre the most successful worker in our cleaning department. You became the CEOâs personal assistant in less than a month. Youâre a role model for everyone.â
Daryl also sarcastically said, âYeah, if I had that beautiful face, Iâd be promoted quickly too. Itâs a shame my parents didnât bless me with it.â
Hearing this, Thalassa felt a lump in her throat. This was a trap.
She didnât sit down but coldly said, âSorry, I donât like Japanese food. Iâll leave first.â
As she turned around, she was pulled back by Charlotte. Standing up, Charlotte slapped Thalassa across the face.
Thalassa covered her face, looking at Charlotte in disbelief and anger.
The room fell silent.
Noreen was shocked, and she hadnât expected it to escalate to physical violence.
Daryl was dumbfounded, blinking but not moving.
Cherry, who was closest to Thalassa, was stunned when she saw Charlotte slap Thalassa.
Thalassa gritted her teeth, âMs. Ravensong, there are cameras here. I can sue you for assault!â
âSue me? On what grounds? Do you have the resources or connections? Can you go up against the Ravensong Group?â Charlotte scoffed arrogantly.
âDoes your status and connections measure up to the Sinclair family? Apologize to her now!â They heard a cold and angry male voice.
