When Thalassa saw Charlotteâs air of superiority, she felt as if Charlotte was on a high horse, looking down at her.
This made Thalassa super uncomfortable. She didnât want to fight Charlotte for Lysanderâs affections.
All she wanted was to find a quick way out of this mess.
But she couldnât stomach Charlotteâs high-and-mighty attitude.
With a forced smile, she said, âWhatâs so great about you? Has Lysander taken you home to meet his family and acknowledged you as his girlfriend yet?â
Charlotteâs mood plummeted at Thalassaâs words.
Zephyr had told her that Lysander had taken Thalassa home to meet his grandparents and acknowledged her as his girlfriend. He was even being urged by Sybil to tie the knot.
Zephyr said Lysander genuinely liked Thalassa, so she needed to be more careful. If she wanted to win Lysander over, she had to make Thalassa disappear from Lysanderâs sight first.
What did Thalassa, a mere cleaning lady, have to make Lysander pay her such attention? He even took her home and he was intimate with her!
She was the Ravensong family heiress, but she couldnât even catch Lysanderâs eye.
Charlotte was green with envy, but she still maintained her poised posture, looking down at Thalassa.
âLysander has brought home many women. Being acknowledged as his girlfriend isnât a big deal, as long as youâre not his wife. Iâm different. Iâm engaged to Lysander and recognized by Zephyr as the future Mrs. Sinclair!â
Thalassaâs heart sank.
So, Lysander already had a fiancée, chosen personally by Zephyr.
No wonder when she and Lysander went to his house before, Zephyr said she wasnât a good match for Lysander and she didnât even deserve to enter his family.
It turned out that Zephyr already knew she was just one of the playthings Lysander had before marriage.
She once thought when Lysander said he would take responsibility, he meant marrying her and giving their kids a complete family, allowing them to feel loved by their father.
âMs. Ravensong, youâre worried about your status being threatened, arenât you? Otherwise, why would you bother telling me all this?â Thalassa kept her smile, but it was cold.
Charlotteâs face darkened. She thought she could embarrass Thalassa and make her back off, but Thalassa seemed unfazed.
It appeared Thalassa wasnât as simple as she thought.
âJust a friendly reminder. Donât cling on after being dumped. Itâs too pathetic!â Charlotte couldnât help but stand up, huffing coldly. She gave Thalassa a final look before leaving the office.
Once Charlotte was gone, Thalassaâs tense shoulders relaxed. Her breath quickened as if she had lost her strength.
She had to figure out a way to get Lysander to dump her ASAP.
This kind of high society game was too much for her.
In the afternoon, it was time to clock out.
Lysander was about to call Thalassa to ask her to wait for him when his phone rang. It was Zephyr.
Lysander answered the call.
âLysander, today is your parentsâ death anniversary. Your grandmother and I are waiting for you at the cemetery,â Zephyrâs voice sounded.
A shadow passed over Lysanderâs eyes. âHmm.â
When it was time to leave, Thalassa was ready to go, but she wondered if it was inappropriate for her to leave before Lysander as his secretary.
She didnât dare to check if Lysander had left from his office.
If he called her, she might not be able to leave.
So, she dawdled in the office for a while.
Half an hour after clocking out time. Thalassa couldnât wait any longer. She wanted to go home and be with her four lovely kids, thinking of their round little faces, adorable expressions, and soft voices.
