It was at this point that Leopold had a eureka moment and walked up to the bar with Lysander.
They both ordered a glass of whiskey âI bumped into a college reunion here, and Thalassa was a classmate of mine in college,â Leopold expl ained to Lysander.
Lysander casually took a sip of his drink and didnât respond.
Leopold then asked, âDo you know Thalassa?â
âShe used to work for the Sinclair group,â Lysander answered in a low, calm voice.
Leopold suddenly remembered in Thalassaâs resume that she had worked as a CEOâs secretary for the Sinclair group for a day.
So she used to be Lysanderâs secretary.
That would explain why they knew each other.
Then the doubts in Leopoldâs mind vanished.
He originally thought that Thalassa and Lysander may have had some special relationship, but it turned out they were simply superior and subordinate.
Leopold breathed a sigh of relief and began to confess to Lysander.
âThalassa is the woman I used to talk to you about, my exâ
girlfnend,â Leopold suddenly revealed his secret.
Lysander was holding the glass, but then his hand paused slightly, his eyes deep and indifferent.
Leopold did not notice his change, and continued, âBack then, I did betray her, but that was not my inte ntion. She is the only one I love. I know she loves me too. Otherwise, she would forgive me easily if sh e doesnât love me. She doesnât forgive me until now just because she got hurt.â
Leopold went on talking, completely oblivious to Lysanderâs icy gaze. A storm was brewing in his eyes.
Thalassa and Hertha nervously left the bar.
Sitting in the car, Hertha wiped the cold sweat from her forehead. She swallowed hard and said, âToday was really thrilling. Not only did we run into Leopold, but also Lysander. And the kicker is, theyâr e relatives!â
The thought terrified Hertha.
Thalassa was also taken aback, shocked to her core.
âWho would have thought Lysander was Leopoldâs uncle.â
Leopold was actually a member of the Sinclair family, the wealthiest family in Starhaven!
When he was in college, he was lowâ
key. He didnât drive fancy cars, and didnât wear designer clothes. Thalassa and Hertha thought he was j ust a regular kid.
They never imagined his real identity!
âBut now that I think about it, Leopold is more sincere than Lysander. At least he knew about your back ground from the beginning and chose to be with you,â Hertha was unusually composed to speak the tru th.
âTheyâre all the same. A regular girl like me is out of their league. After all, didnât Leopold go to the coun tryside with me five years ago just to sleep with me?â
If Leopold truly respected her, he wouldnât have mistaken Isabella for her and slept with Isabella.
Lysander and Leppold were the same. They were just toying with her.
And she didnât want to play their game.
She would never forget what Zephyr had told her nor would she delude herself about marrying into a w ealthy family.
Hertha came to her senses, nodded and said, âYouâre right.â
Hertha dropped Thalassa off at the entrance of the residential area.
âJust stop here, I can go in by myself. This way you donât have to turn around inside the complex,â Thalassa said. âOkay.â Hertha stopped the car.
Tasse get out of the car and they waved goodbye.
