Though sneakers canât give her that royal elegant vibe, they sure do make her feel secure.
Faye was so pissed her foundation was about to crack.
Her breathing hitched, but she tried hard to keep her anger at bay.
Being the heiress of the Brennan group, she had to stay cool and composed. She shouldnât act like Tha lassa, the rude chick who lost her crap.
Thalassa stepped out of the Sinclair group, bumping into Hertha parking her car in the lot.
Noticing her, Thalassa approached, âHertha, what brings you here?â
âThalassa, Iâm here to pay the compensation, David told me yesterday I needed to wire the money to hi s account by this afternoon. But all I have is cash,â Hertha said, patting her purse.
Thalassa quickly grabbed her arm, whispering. âKeep it lowâkey so that you wonât get rubbed.â
Hertha got cautious, lowering her voice. âShould I go find David then?â
Thalassa guided her into the car and hopped in. âYou said David asked you to wire the money to his ac count. Did he give you the account number?â
Hertha nodded. âYes, he texted it to me.â She showed Thalassa the text on her phone.
Thalassa saw a string of digits, the bank account number.
She said. âYour cash is from your parents, right? Give it back to them. Iâll transfer you five grand, then y ou can wire that to David.â
Herthaâs parents were both civil servants with stable jobs and decent salaries.
Although Hertha was working, sheâd always spend her entire salary each month.
Thalassa knew that Hertha wouldnât have five grand, so Hertha mustâve asked her parents.
Whenever Thalassa was in a tight spot Hertha was always there to help, no questions asked.
She was truly touched and grateful Having such a devoted friend like Hertha was the biggest luck in Thalassaâs life.
Herthaâs eyes widened in shock, âThalassa, did you do anything stupid?â
Thalassa asked, âWhat stupid thing would I do?â
âYouâre not actually considering accepting Lysanderâs offer, are you? Paying him out of his own pocket, Thalassa, have you lost your mind?â Ever since hearing about Thalassaâs story with Lysander, Hertha had been strongly against them continuing their relations hip.
It was clear that Lysander was just toying with Thalassa with no attempt of marrying her.
How could Thalassa be so naive?
Thalassa was taken aback, then laughed. âYouâre overthinking it. The money is from the Sinclair group as compensation for firing me.â
âWhat? You got fired?â Hertha was even more shocked.
Thalassa nodded, explaining everything about her promotion to secretary and being fired less than a day later.
Hertha gave her a thumbsâup, âThalassa, thatâs some nextâ
level move. But this just further proves that Lysander doesnât want to marry you. If he did, he wouldâve married you right away instead of firing you when he heard the rumor.â
Even Hertha could see the logic here.
Thalassa said. âLetâs get going. No more visits to the Sinclair group.â
Hertha started the car and drove off.
Meanwhile, David was driving a Maybach. With Lysander in the car, he pulled into the Sinclair groupâs p arking lot.
