In the car Leopold was driving, he took a glance at Lysander in the rearview mirror.
Lysander was leaning back in his seat, eyes closed, trying to catch some zâs.
Out of curiosity, Leopold couldnât help but ask, âLysander, what brought you to this neck of the woods?
Something up?â
This place was far from bustling and it was mainly a haunt for the strugglers heading out to make a livin g.
Normally, Lysander wouldnât be caught dead in a place like this.
His lifestyle was more high end, and his usual haunts were business hubs or bustling areas.
âHmm, Lysander responded with a monosyllabic grunt.
âWork stuff?â Leopold asked again.
âHmm.â Lysander responded again.
He looked beat and not in the mood for chitâchat.
Leopold got the hint, and he didnât bother him anymore.
After dropping him off at the company, Leopold was about to take off when Lysander suddenly asked, â
What are you heading over there for?â
Leopold was taken aback, realized what he meant, laughed it off, and said, âWork stuff too.â
Lysander encouraged him to win back Thalassa, but he ended up getting the cold shoulder from her.
And boy, did Thalassa shut him down, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
If he spilled the beans to Lysander, heâd probably think Leopold was a total screwâup.
Nonetheless, he was still after Thalassa, he can tell Lysander once heâs won her over.
Lysander didnât say another word, he just walked into the elevator.
Leopold turned around and left the Sinclair group.
Thalassaâs place.
Evelyn stormed in with Elowen and Sophia.
Sheâd expected to see two people when she opened the door.
But instead, she found Thalassa alone, sitting at the dining table, munching on chips.
âHey, youâre back.â Thalassa turned her head, greeted them with a gentle smile, then went back to her chips.
Seeing Thalassa act as if nothing happened, Evelyn got ticked off.
She let go of Elowen and Sophia and stormed through every room, but didnât find anyone.
She stormed up to Thalassa, hands on her hips, demanding, âWhere the hell is he?â
âWho?â Thalassa was clueless.
âThe dude!â Evelyn stated it bluntly. âElowen saw a guy dropping you off.â Evelyn stared her down, not l etting her dodge the question.
Thalassa finally realized, so Elowen did see her.
6 ? F F F Z SEPT Thankfully, she didnât call her mom at the time, or the cat wouldâve been out of the bag and Lysander w ouldâve found out that she was his daughter.
Instead of answering Evelynâs question right away, Thalassa picked up Elowen and gently stroked her li ttle face. âOur Elowen saw mommy, huh?â
âMmâhmm, Mommy, I love you the most, I knew it was you right away,â Elowen replied in her sweet baby voice.
âThalassa, tell me, was that guy your boss?â Evelyn was adamant.
Thalassa had already experienced her momâs interrogations and knew she wouldnât let it go easily.
She replied, âMom, thatâs all water under the bridge; itâs over.â
âWhat do you mean itâs over? He tells you youâre not good enough for him, then drives you home. What âs he really after? Is he trying to dodge responsibility?â Evelyn was getting angrier the more she thought about it
