Thalassa was still rooted to the spot, completely blindsided by this turn of events. Turned out it was Lysander who had built a mansion for her family.
The reason? Last time he visited, there wasnât even a decent chair for him to sit on..
Previously, she had assumed that Lysander was Isabellaâs boyfriend and that he came to Hollowbrook specifically to see her. If he was here to see Isabella, why did he eat at her house?
She wasnât a fan of Isabella, so she started to resent him and intentionally gave him a chair full of dust and cobwebs, with one leg even broken. He was clearly pissed, stormed off, and even said that the food in Hollowbrook wasnât good enough for his taste.
She never expected that just because of this, he would demolish their home and build such a huge villa.
Talk about turning the other cheek âUm, may I ask, how much did this villa cost?â Thalassa ventured, after recovering from her shock.
The young man replied. âIâm not sure, Iâm just in charge of handing over the keys and documents to you.â
âWell, did your boss leave any other instructions?â Thalassa asked.
She had a hunch that things were not as simple as they seemed. Even if Lysander was loaded, he wouldnât build a mansion for her family over such a trivial matter, right? She would definitely pay him back for the cost of building the villa.
Once she returned to Starhaven, she would ask Lysander herself how much the villa cost and when she could afford it, she would pay him back.
Looked like sheâll have to find more part-time jobs in the future. She couldnât accept something for nothing, she had to pay him back. Otherwise, she would feel uncomfortable living in a villa built by him, especially since there was nothing going on between she and Lysander.
âNo other instructions. The young man shook his head, âI have to go back to Starhaven today and since you guys rented a car, I can hitch a ride.â
He hopped into the car parked at the villaâs entrance, waved goodbye to Thalassa, and told the driver to leave.
Thalassa stood at the entrance of the villa, staring at Isabellaâs high-rise building behind their villa, then at her own house.
-Before, Isabellaâs house was the most luxurious and tallest in the village. Now Thalassaâs house was the tallest and most beautiful.
Isabellaâs house used to block the sunlight from hers, but now it was her house that cast a shadow over Isabellaâs.
Lysanderâs move was impressive.
Thalassa was about to go in and check out the interior of the mansion.
When her neighbor Greta ran over and stopped her, âThalassa, youâre finally back. Why donât you come over to my house and check out your emerald pendant.â
âSure, letâs go to your house.â Thalassa hadnât forgotten about this. It was just that she was stunned by the sight before her and lost track of time.
Thalassa followed Greta to her house. Gretaâs house was in front of Thalassaâs. She lived in a small building which used to look more upscale than Thalassaâs house. But now compared to the villa, it seemed rather dull.
âThalassa, your family is living the good life now. Living in a villa that looks even better and more luxurious than Isabellaâs. Does your boyfriend have more money than Isabellaâs?â Greta showered her with compliments and also tried to probe. She wanted to know if the villa was built by Thalassaâs boyfriend.
Thalassa smiled awkwardly and said, âNot really, a developer thought our house was too qutdated and needed a makeover. So they chose our place to build this villa as a test site.â
She didnât have a boyfriend. And she never believed in flaunting her familyâs wealth, Life was her own, and as long as she was comfortable, that was all that mattered.
âWhat do you mean by test site?â Greta was confused.
âIt means to live there temporarily to see if there are any design flaws in the mansion. Otherwise, what if the house collapses while people are living in it? So they let a few people try it out first. Thatâs what a test site means.â Thalassa explained.
