She turned around, gave the reception desk a quick glance, and then sauntered into the elevator, back straight as a rod.
âFaye, whatâs the big idea? What do you mean we have to go to the police station to find Thalassa?â
Hertha chased after her, looking for some kind of explanation.
However, another employee stopped her and said, âIâm really sorry, but after the ruckus Mr. Sinclairâs nephew caused in his office last time, I canât just let you guys waltz in.â
The employee apologized sincerely.
She really liked these two kids, but she was on duty and couldnât let them run rampant.
Hertha looked at her and decided she was a decent person, and she didnât want to make things hard for her.
âAnyway, thanks for your help,â Hertha said, then waved at Dorian and Atticus and said, âLetâs get going.â
Atticus hopped off his chair and walked over to her. Hertha took his hand and held Dorianâs with her other hand.
âLetâs go to the police station to find Thalassa,â Hertha said with a worried tone.
Dorian was also worried about his mom. He frowned and said with frustration, âMom didnât spread any rumors. Why did they take her away?â
âShe couldnât find any evidence. She wanted to check the surveillance with Mr. Sinclair, but he wasnât in, and his secretary was being a real witch, Hertha said angrily, thinking about Faye.
âMy lovely, charming, and smart mom, I feel so bad for her, Dorian said with a tender voice, full of love His sweetness got to Hertha; she chuckled and ruffled his hair as she said, âI think the smartest one here is youâ
Thinking about Fayeâs embarrassment earlier, she felt a sense of satisfaction.
Dorian beamed at her compliment, his mood lightening.
âHertha, can you call my mom and see if sheâs at the police station?â Dorian tugged at Herthaâs sleeve and looked at her with his bright eyes pleadingly.
Legally, Hertha was their mom and their godmother too.
Whenever Dorian acted cute, Hertha would melt, she said indulgently. âOf course, Iâll call. I wouldnât just believe that womanâs words. Donât worry.â
With that, she took out her phone and dialed Thalassaâs number.
The phone kept ringing, but no one picked up.
Hertha ended the call and said worriedly, âThalassa isnât picking up. Somethingâs off.â
âOh no, mom must really be at the police station. Sheâs been framed, Atticus said, sounding grave.
âYeah, that woman is so mean; she mustâve taken mom to the police station. Poor mom, Dorian started to feel bad for his mom again.
âAlright, letâs go to the police station now, Thalassa needs our help!â Hertha said seriously, making a cheering gesture.
âYeah, mom needs our help!â Dorian nodded seriously, full of determination.
The three of them sprung into action, with Hertha driving in the direction of the police station.
Hertha arrived at the police station with the two kids.
They found Thalassa, Her usually sunny face was now looking a little downcast and aged.
