âMr. Sinclair, if you check the surveillance system on your computer, youâll see I didnât eavesdrop on your conversation. I want to underline that I was not lurking around your door, and the cameras outside can back me up on this.â
Joie was about to leave after today, and it was already five oâclock in the afternoon. If she didnât handle this situation now, she might never get the chance.
Thalassa was stressed out, knowing that Joie and her gang were the ones who started this rumor.
Zephyr, sitting by the side, was giving Thalassa a cold, eagle-eyed stare.
Lysander chuckled, âThis is a minor issue, not worth wasting everyoneâs time.â
Seriously, whatâs wrong with this woman?
Canât she read the room?
Lysander was at a loss for words.
When Thalassa heard what Lysander had to say, she didnât know how to respond. His words were exactly what Faye had said.
He had no intention of wasting his time clearing up her misunderstanding.
Thalassa was even more anxious. She pleaded with Mr. Sinclair, âI know Iâm not important at all and Iâm taking your time, but this is about my reputation. Please, just check the surveillance footage on your computer. It wonât take much of your time.â
Lysander looked up at Thalassa, his gaze turning icy cold. The tension in the office was palpable.
David, standing nearby, wiped sweat off his forehead.
Thalassa sure had guts. She knew all about Mr. Sinclairâs temper, yet she persisted.
She held her breath, waiting for Lysanderâs response.
Suddenly, Joie barged in. She approached Lysander and blurted out, âMr. Sinclair, I was the one who spread the rumor and framed Thalassa. I was just jealous because she used someone elseâs identity to get a job here and didnât get fired for it. And I was jealous because she got to clean the top floors on her first day.â
Thalassa was taken aback by Joieâs sudden confession.
Joie continued, âIâve realized my mistake and handed in my resignation. After today, I wonât be part of the Sinclair group any longer. I did something wrong and Iâm ready to face the consequences. But Thalassa used someone elseâs identity to get a job here, which is against the company rules. She should be punished too. I donât understand why she only had to correct her personal information and didnât face any consequences, not even a pay cut âAre you questioning my decision?â Lysander asked coldly.
Joie was startled. She lowered her head and stammered, âNo, sir.â
She hadnât realized that it was Mr. Sinclairâs decision not to fire Thalassa or dock her pay.
If sheâd known that, she wouldnât have said what she did.
Joie was so scared her knees were shaking Thalassa was stunned by this revelation. Did this mean that Mr. Sinclair had saved her job when she was found out for using her motherâs identity to get a job at the Sinclair group? Was that why she wasnât fired?
Why would Lysander help her?
Thalassa was puzzled for a moment, but quickly shook it off.
Now was not the time to ponder these things. She had more important things to discuss.
She said to Lysander, âMr. Sinclair, someone manipulated Joie into spreading rumors and slandering me. And her gripe with me isnât about me using my motherâs identity to get a job at the Sinclair group.
Sheâs just jealous because she wants to work on the top floors, so she can get close to you and seduce you. Director Noreen didnât give her that chance, so sheâs been holding a grudge against me. In short, sheâs just green with envy because I get to be near you every day.â
After Thalassa finished speaking, Zephyrâs expression turned even more serious as he fixed his piercing gaze on Thalassa.
Lysander could feel his grandfatherâs displeasure, and his face grew even colder.
